I think those are always just 1 pixel.

You should ask questions in the Q&A Forum. This Forum is where people post their Tips on how to do something that might not be obvious. But to answer your question: It's not going to be easy. You will need to create a series of 2D Molding Profiles & 3D Molding Symbols and add them to a Molding Polyline. You will also need some additional Symbols for the ends and for the "Lintels" over the windows. All of the above would probably be easiest to create in SketchUp but they could be created in Chief using a variety of Solids and PSolids.

In the NVIDIA Control Panel select Configure Surround, PhysX PhysX Settings Auto Select (recommended)

It's in the Wall Definition. "Foundation to this Line" set to the sheathing.

There's no way to do this currently. What exactly is "Toned"? You can however edit the "Comments" field in the "Components" dbx and that will appear in the Schedule. Note that if you subsequently edit the Cabinet the Comment will be removed and you'll have to enter it again.

Is there any way to save the current "Custom Colors" with the Plan/Template? It would be nice to have a set of standards that you can repeatedly use without needing to recreate them every time you start Chief. I can use the Windows Snipping Tool to save a pic of the Custom Colors and then Import that into a Plan. But then I have to copy all those colors back into the Color Chooser each time I start a Chief session. PITA! It would be much easier if it could just be saved with the Plan/Template.

Check to make sure you are in either Standard or Vector mode.

Simpson DTT1Z and DTT2Z Deck Tension Ties
Joe_Carrick replied to Northriver's topic in Symbols and Content
Normally the Sill Plate is above floor sheathing which is of course way above the bottom of the Deck Joist so I can't see how that would be possible. -
Simpson DTT1Z and DTT2Z Deck Tension Ties

Greg, Obviously you mean the "Top Plate". It would be impossible to attach to the "Sill Plate". -
You can create an opening in a cabinet and then place the appliance freestanding and move it into the opening. We really should be able to use the "Specify Appliance" to do that. Of course, you could always just put that appliance in a blank plan and convert it to a Cabinet Drawer Front Symbol

Putting people in views for renderings - where are the objects?
Joe_Carrick replied to Clemsongrad's topic in General Q & A
I had posted some image libraries of people some time back. Search the forums. -
Thanks Kirk, these are great.

No, it's built-in to Chief. I use Adobe-PDF or Nuance-PDF. IMO those are much more capable and actually give better results.

But you can't format the blank line
-
No, When using a Rich Text Box, you can place the %room.name% macro on line 1 and the %room.height.ceiling% macro and any other text you want on line 2. You can set the formatting of each line (Font, Color, Size, Justification) and the border and fill for the entire RTB. Copy/paste that RTB into each Room. You can even place it outside the room and add a leader line with arrow to connect it to the room. Make sure you turn off the Room Label Layer. You've created your own custom Room Label.
-
You also need to turn off the Layer "Rooms, Dimensions" and in the Default Room Label insert the macro as Eric pointed out on the 2nd line of the Room Label. You can also enter " Clg.Ht. " either before or after that macro. Note: If you want to control the text size to be smaller than the Room name you will need to do it all in a Rich Text Box.

Call Tech Support, you pay for it, use it!
Joe_Carrick replied to DavidJPotter's topic in Industry & Design Resources
I called tech support about an issue I was having and they referred me to a post on Chieftalk. It was my own post. IOW, I knew more about the subject than they did. But my post didn't answer the question I had. -
If you place the Framing Schedule directly in a Truss Detail it will be just about perfect. You can suppress the Title since it will only apply to that particular truss. Some manual dims and you've got just about anything you could need.

My tendency is to have full height panels between openings and use short walls below windows and header walls above doors and windows. I don't include panel framing in the materials list.

Need help finishing remodel plans for city of tustin, ca
Joe_Carrick replied to Snafu2016's topic in Seeking Services
I see a lot of problems: 1. Door to Bath 2 is way too small 2. Access to Garage is thru the Master Bath a. You would have to carry groceries thru the Mast Bath, Master Bedroom, Hall and Dining Room. Is this an existing house? The plan just doesn't make sense - if that is anything near the current layout then you should consider a complete redesign. -
One of my systems uses the configuration shown in my signature. I have another that uses a 55" 4K TV mounted on a sloped desk top. It's set up like a Drafting Table so I can stand or sit on a stool with my head tilted down. This works much better because I can see everything without turning my head from side to side. I have very little neck strain with that system than with the 3 smaller monitors. I'm thinking about adding a couple of 24" monitors on the wall above the drafting table so I could have eMail & Chieftalk live at all times on one of them and have my Layout and/or a 3D Perspective displayed on the other - without covering any of the Plan on the 55".

So if you are going to change the displayed layers, Copy the Layer Set to a new name and make the changes on the Copy. The Annoset will remember the original so selecting the Annoset will get you back to where you want to be.

CAD Block Template - Creating a Detail Plan Database
Joe_Carrick replied to Joe_Carrick's topic in Tips & Techniques
Steve, The Plan File Details are linked to the Layout Template (assuming that you have sent them to the Template and saved the Template). There is no slowdown associated with this. There is no need to have the Detail Plans in the same folder as the Project Folder. In fact, only the Main Plan File and the Layout should be in that folder. By keeping the Detail Plans in a single "Detail Folder" they will always be found by any new Project's Layout created from the Layout Template. You never have to relink them. Each Layout Box knows where it's contents came from (full path and file name) so as long as that location doesn't change it will always be found. -
Richard, You're learning ;)
