  1. Did you check the bonus catalogs? Chief has this one in their Modern/Retro No. 1 library...
  2. You can also drop into plan, change to floor mounted, adjust Y offset to zero AND THEN add to library. Changing to floor mounted and adjusting Y offset should be the only adjustments that are necessary though whether you drop in plan first or place in library first.
  3. Let me get this straight, you spent eight entire days talking to the folks at Chief and yet you claim they have no customer service or technical support? I can tell you for an absolute fact that you are dead wrong. And chances are if chief is claiming it's not a problem on their end that it's not. It's probably an issue with your system. I'm sorry you are having problems, but just because you haven't found an answer doesn't mean it's Chiefs fault. What exactly did they tell you? And can you describe your computer system? There are a ton of us who have upgraded to X8 and have no problems. That being said, I have personally experienced a few very unusual issues connected to windows 10 updates not playing well with a couple different drivers and a couple different programs... All different, and all on different computers. One of the issues required uninstalling my antivirus software and reinstalling it. Another issue required changing one of the drivers to an older version, and one of the issues was fixed by running a full restore.
  4. Without seeing exactly what you were doing it's hard to say, but one thing you can check for is this… When you are about to enter a dimension into the dimension field look right next to it to see if there are a few little icons. Those decide exactly how you will be adjusting the wall. Click on the appropriate icon before hitting enter.
  5. This example is one of the more complicated situations, but starting at about the eight minute mark of this video you can see one example of me stealing snapping points from a CDFV...
  6. Just create cad detail from view, place a point or line or whatever, copy from the CDFV, and then paste hold position back into your other view. All you are doing in that instance is stealing a snap point from the CDFV. Actually, you don't even have to place a line or point sometimes. All you have to do is copy an existing line.
  7. You're not being a noob. I'm just trying to start a new fad CAD Detail From View
  8. You're not being a noob. I'm just trying to start a new fad CAD Detail From View
  9. CDFV is what I always use (more often than not it only requires copying a single line and then using Paste Hold Postion) . You can also unlock your cross-section lines layer in some cases.
  10. facer, How long have you been using Chief? How long have you been using it for commercial? And why did you choose chief over the competition in the first place?
  11. No way that I personally know of to move labels to a different layer. If someone else knows of a way it would be news to me. There may be a better way, but the best solutions I can think of would just be to... A. suppress the label for one or the other and then if necessary add your own manual label B. turn one of the layers off entirely. This would turn the label for that object off as well. C. place a polyline with no line style and a solid fill set to the background color over one or more labels as necessary. Just put that "CAD mask" on its own layer and turn it on and off as necessary. D. copy/paste in place an extra item, put the copy on its own layer and then suppress the label. Turn the appropriate layer on or off depending on the view. Which method to use would just depend on the situation.
  12. I think that's actually where it used to be if I remember correctly. Probably like everything else. People were complaining because it didn't make any sense to them. So they moved it and now it doesn't make any sense. I could be remembering incorrectly but I'm pretty sure it was in the layer display options dbx when I first started using Chief.
  13. What exactly are you copying? A text box? A rich text box? Text from INSIDE a text box? Where are you copying it from? The plan? Layout? A CAD detail? An elevation view? A plan view? Where are you trying to Paste it? Into a plan view? Into an elevation view? Into layout? Into a CAD Detail? Into a text box in one of those places or are you just trying to drop right into the view? Is it text that was produced inside Chief or brought in from somewhere else? And lastly, Joe gave you a very good suggestion... Attach the plan.
  14. I'm guessing it's a problem with a material region not playing well with pocket doors
  15. A little off subject (sort of), but if you custom build a desktop (which I personally think is the best way to go), consider putting one of these on the front. http://www.amazon.com/EXCELVAN-Dashboard-Multi-In-1-Internal-Connector/dp/B00OBA6JFU I absolutely love it.
  16. If you have the option I would strongly recommend an SSD.
  17. See the specs in some of our signatures. Mine is the 8GB and I have no problems.
  18. Try cleaning the heads on the magenta and black cartridge and see if that helps.
  19. I'll give another +1 for ASUS. I have the G751JM and am very happy with it.
  20. Yes it would. I've said it before, but we can also very easily use a custom line style, double click the point marker tool to change the layer, and/or Current CAD Layer to place construction lines or points on a unique layer for very quick and easy deletion. Not exactly a hotkey, but pretty stinkin' fast. And yes...I was using points like "construction lines" but the same general method would work equally well with lines.
  21. That's a good observation Nicinus. The printer heads (or whatever they are called) might be getting old or dirty and having a harder time with thin lines. Specifically the ones for the red cartridge.
  22. You're of course welcome, and thank YOU as well for your help and for the kind words.
  23. Thank you Christopher, you are too kind. And you are more than welcome! Glad I could help. And nice work by the way. Looks good.
  24. Are you saving to your computer? To your C drive, to an external drive? To OneDrive? To DropBox?
