  1. Eric's answer in the other thread only works if you are using X15. In X14, you need to use the "open symbol" and go to the "sizing" page and then type in the width you want.
  2. As far as I can tell, free floating sinks work fine in auto or custom counters.
  3. Seems like a lot of silliness to me. If you want more than one sink, just place them free floating in the plan and drag them on top of the cabinet. Done. *eyes rolling back into the top of my head so far I think they might be stuck now*
  4. Try opening up your preferences and changing your "color off is" setting from "grayscale" to "black and white".
  5. I think you need to post the plan for help with this.
  6. I would just create the bottom frame and shelf using other tools, such as poly solids or maybe even soffits/shelves, and then either block them or convert them into a symbol. Then I would just have the vanity cabinet sit on top of it,
  7. You might not need to create a blank template page because you can always just choose "none" for the template. Now if you want some pages to use one template and other pages to use another template (that actually has something on it), then I would create a new template and assign the pages I want to use it.
  8. I think the way it works is that the program will cut a hole in the terrain based on the building envelope for the floor the terrain is on. This will only happen if "hide terrain intersected by building" is checked in your terrain spec dialog. Sometimes moving the terrain to a better floor works but sometimes it doesn't, for example when the building has a stepped foundation on multiple floors. For all cases where the terrain hole isn't the shape you need, you can convert the auto hole into a manual one using the "make terrain hole about building" tool and then manually edit the shape. You can also just draw a terrain hole wherever you want.
  9. Your zip file is empty. This means that you probably had the plan open when you tried to make it.
  10. I think it does. If you open the window defaults and change the level back to 0, the doors will then work correctly. I have been burned by this before so my rule is never change the default stacking level.
  11. In your window defaults, your "vertical stacking level" is 1. Change it back to 0. I think doors are always on level 0 so if you draw a dimension while on level 1 it won't pick up any openings that are on different levels. This is also why your doors are light grey instead of normal. You might also want to change any existing windows back to 0 as well if you want your dimensions to pick them up.
  12. Try switching the drop down from whatever you are currently on to "linear length". My guess is that you have it set to something else. Here are a couple of tech articles that might help explain how this works: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/category/59/materials-list.html https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00095/creating-a-cut-or-buy-list-of-framing-materials.html https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00510/controlling-the-information-that-s-displayed-in-a-materials-list.html
  13. Wrong on the screen? Or wrong when sent to layout? Or wrong when sent to a pdf? When you say "certain drawings", do you mean plan views, elevation views, cad details, or on a layout page? The reason I ask all of these questions is because depending on when and where this is happening it could be caused by a completely different problem. For example, if it is only wrong on the screen then it might be video card related but if it is only wrong when sent to a pdf then it is probably pdf driver related. You should either post the plan on the forum or get back with tech support.
  14. I tried raising the door but I had to raise it 2x the plate height to get the bottom plate to go through. Of course, this will mess up your header height so you will have to adjust the door height to compensate if you want the framing correct. The other thing that happens is that you get a casing below the door that you can't get rid of. When all is said and done, I think I would just edit the wall detail and just pull the bottom plate across. Need to make sure you do this last and to make sure you get all of the wall details you can find them all in the project browser.
  15. I don't know if you have ever played around with reference display (F9) but turning it on makes it very easy to draw walls on your second floor and snap to the walls on the first floor. It also makes it really easy to move a wall on one floor and then jump to the other and line them back up.
  16. You could create your own custom door panel that has the mirror built into it. You could even build it our of an existing door panel and mirror from the library and just convert it into a new door panel symbol. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-01808/creating-a-custom-door.html
  17. Do you have contour lines turned on? If so, then it's at the line that says "0".
  18. You need to turn off "auto refresh" for your exterior dimensions under "setup automatic" for the active dimension defaults. You can also just group select your dimensions and delete them and the program will ask you if you want to turn off "auto refresh".
  19. Seems fine to me in X15. Might be a system or video card problem on your machine.
  20. I didn't have time to look at your plan but I think in general you are better off moving the site plan image instead of the building model. If you do need to move a model around, you will probably have better results by using edit area (all floors) then trying to select things on each floor and moving them.
  21. You could use a room divider to split a deck into different framing sections. You can also manually edit any deck framing, but that is usually a big pain. If that doesn't help, then you should post a picture of what you want.
  22. Could be a few other things as well, such as your rooms not being connected/defined correctly or your terrain is on the wrong floor. That is why it is usually best to post the plan file when you have problems like this. Also, just as an FYI, if your auto terrain hole for the building does not follow the walls the way you want it to, you can convert it into a manual hole and then edit the shape. Look up the help for "make terrain hole around building". You can even just create manual holes if you need to.
  23. You could use match properties or marque select similar. You could also put them in different plans and then use reference display to see them both.
  24. There are some good tips in this tech article: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00521/troubleshooting-slowness-in-chief-architect-plans.html#3DSlowness
