Are you getting the rafters but without the tails or are you not even getting the rafters? Hard to tell from the pictures. If your not getting the rafters, you could always just put them in manually, maybe by copying the ones that are already there. If your getting the rafters but they are not getting the tails, then you should be able to select them and add the tails manually. If this doesn't help, then you probably need to post the plan for someone to poke around in.

Stairs on the side of a building to show on second floor plans.
DBCooper replied to StephenM's topic in General Q & A
There are at least two ways to do this. You can either use the "reference display" with a view that is setup to just show the stairs on the first floor (but it will show with an up arrow instead of a down arrow), or you could create a room using invisible walls and make it an "open below". -
You can setup your door defaults to use the headers you want. Just set the count to 1 and the type to LVL. Also, you can group select your door defaults if you want to change them all at once to be the same style. I don't think there is anything automatic. We have some things like poche fill and "below grade" display settings in the cross section camera dialog but these won't give you a fill style for the terrain itself. I usually just use add cad manually when I need to. You can sometimes use the view to cad detail to make it easier to get a closed polyline that you can add a fill style to and then copy back into the elevation. Someone else might have some other tricks to make this easier. And, as Jason mentioned, adding pictures for what you want can really help people understand better.

quad outlets multi-gang boxes (2,3,4 and sometimes 5), As noted above, if you just place the outlets and/or switches close together they will auto gang in camera views. quad and duplex outlets in ceilings, inside cabinets, ..., There is a ceiling mounted outlet in the library but as far as i know there isn't a quad and you can only auto gang outlets and switches that are on walls. You might be able to build your own quad symbol pretty easily though. If this is something you want to learn how to do, you might want to post it as a separate question. As for placing electrical inside cabinets, if you want it on the back of a cabinet, you can just place it on the wall behind the cabinet and set the distance from the wall to 3/4". If you need it somewhere else, I usually set it into a floor mounted outlet and then manually position it where I want it. 240V in the ceiling, You can usually convert any wall mounted symbol into a ceiling or floor mounted symbol by changing where it is mounted in the symbol options and then rotating the 3D data. Lutron switch keypads, If there isn't one that is close enough in the bonus libraries, you could probably find one online that you could import. You could probably also make your own but depending on how accurate you want it to be would make this either be simple or hard. differentiate between low and line voltage lights, How do you want to differentiate them? You can always copy an existing symbol and modify the cad block that displays in plan views. You can also modify the line styles used for your electrical connections. depict under cabinets and toe kick lights There are a few different options in the libraries but if you need something specific you will need to import a symbol or build it yourself. I can almost always find something in the library that is close enough to what I need. a way to depict hardwire terminations (e.g., run 240v to in-floor heating) You can probably show what you want using a cad block. Might be best to post a picture of what you want to show to be sure. a modest variety of devices (e.g., bathroom fan, range hood, ...) as elements of the electrical layout There are lots of these things already built into the libraries. For anything you want that isn't, you can always import it or build it yourself. Hope this helps. If you need more specific answers or examples of "how to", then ask.

I don't think it has anything to do with the cabinet settings and I think it is all controlled by the dishwasher symbol. You either need to build your symbol exactly the same way that Chief builds theirs or you need to place it as a free standing symbol and then put a custom counter over it (like Jim suggested).

I suspect that it is related to your display resolution and scale. If you can increase your screen resolution, that might solve the problem. If you are running at a scale that is more than 100%, you might try setting it to 100% and see if you still get the problem. In either case, you might want to report it to Chief as a bug but I'm pretty sure they will tell you it's all your own fault for messing with their toolbar buttons.

Just place a fixed window and go to the shape page and set the right height to 0 (it will make it 1/4" but that should be close enough).

Your first mistake was trusting google AI. Are you trying to download bonus libraries or core libraries? If you messed with your "library database folder" in preferences, you might want to reset it back to the default because you may have done something strange by accident. I think this tech article covers a bunch of library download issues: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00090/obtaining-and-updating-library-content.html My next guess is that maybe you downloaded libraries that are not compatible with your version (assuming you are still using X15 like your signature says). This tech article might help: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-01759/troubleshooting-compatibility-problems-with-library-content.html If that doesn't help, you probably need to give us some more info about what you did and what messages you are getting. Or, contact tech support.

Making whole house a cad block for use on 3d site terrain model
DBCooper replied to djhplanning's topic in General Q & A
If you want to see it in a camera view, you don't want a cad block. You want to either create a 3D symbol out of the house or use reference display to show it in another plan. Ben posted a link to a video that should show you how to use the reference display. Here is a tech article that will tell you how to make a symbol out of a house: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00344/modeling-a-subdivision-or-lot-with-multiple-structures.html -
Try using landings for the first two steps. You can make them any shape you like.

I think it's a problem with mac sequoia. I found this tech article when I searched for mac + license so maybe it will help: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-03198/troubleshooting-license-authentication-issues-after-updating-to-macos-sequoia-15.html If you can't fix it, you are probably going to have to call tech support.

So the cad block for that light looks fine and I think the problem is that the schedule is using the "bounding box" size instead of the cad block size. The bounding box is being set by how big the light is in a camera view. You *might* be able to work around this by creating a copy of the symbol and making the bounding box smaller so that it matches the 2D size. I didn't play with this very long but found that I could get the row size smaller by using a negative bounding box spacing (see picture below). Unfortunately, this had the side effect of messing up the preview position in the schedule but there might be a way to modify these settings to get what you need. The bottom line is that I think this might be a bug so you might want to report it.

Yes, to 1 & 3 in Premier but I think Pro can handle them as well. For 2, there are no built in tools for elevators and I think most people will just create an elevator room with pocket doors to show them on your plans. You can even make the upper rooms "open below" type to show the actual shaft. Couldn't find a symbol in the library for the car but you could probably find one to download or build your own if you really want to show it. You might want to download the trial version of either Chief or Pro and have a play with it.

Did you make that "warehouse" light yourself or get it from the library? I couldn't find it in my library so I am guessing you either made it or renamed a library one. In either case, I am guessing that it is related to the size of the cad block it is using. The size of the cad block can change the schedule row size. In either case, you might be able to work around this problem by playing around with the preview options in the schedule dialog. Checking or unchecking the "use plan view scale" or "scale images" might give you the results you want. If that doesn't help, then you might want to post your plan.

Sure you can. Build a stair with winders using Chief's old way of doing it with 3 separate but connected stair sections where the middle one is curved, tell it to use the walk line, turn on winders, lock the tread depth and then set the tread depth to be 10" and it should give you exactly what you want. Here is a tech article that explains the process better: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00884/creating-winder-stairs.html Here is an example of winders with the walk line turned on and the tread depth set to 10" (and yes, I did draw a curved cad line matching the walk line and verified that the length really was 10"):

I don't think a soffit can follow the ceiling and also be flat on the bottom.

Try playing around with those tools that control the preview. You can switch the rendering style as well as the preview object. It looks like you are currently using a plane and you could try switching to a cube. Also, could try switching between standard, PBR, and vector. Might be a video card or driver issue too. I assume you rebooted but you should if you haven't tried that yet. Not sure about how mac handles drivers. If that doesn't help, you should probably contact tech support.

You could just fill it in using a poly solid. You could also draw a wall there and then make a doorway or a pass thru for the cabinet to fit in.
-
These kinds of problems are much easier to figure out with the plan. You might want to post it or a link to it. If I was to make a guess, I would see if it has something to do with the invisible wall that joins that stub wall.

How to isolate different on center framing areas
DBCooper replied to JiAngelo's topic in General Q & A
What do the caution symbols say? I'm guessing that it says something about having joist direction lines in the same platform. You might be able to get what you want by drawing bearing lines to split up the platform and then the joist direction lines might work. If that doesn't help, you should probably post the plan. -
You can do it with the material painter tool in a camera view. Just select "use default" and then you click around to reset the materials back to the default.
