  1. If you are still using X10, you need to pick "custom" for your pattern type and then use the "browse" button to find the different custom patterns that shipped with X10. I saw some board and batten patterns in the siding file that might do what you want. In X15, they are all in the library but you can also create your own custom patterns now.
  2. Not that I know of. You can setup different configurations and switch them any time you want but you can't make the program do it automatically.
  3. I think you found a bug. It looks like the "keep in sync" doesn't quite work right in metric plans. You should be able to turn off "keep in sync" and then adjust the pattern and/or texture so that they match though.
  4. My guess is that it only looks different in your cad detail because your cad detail is using a different layer set than your plan. Could also be related to the selected defaults too.
  5. I would bet that you did something in your terrain that is making the program work really hard. Without the plan, I couldn't tell you what. You could also turn off auto rebuild for the terrain but that might just mask the problem by making it slightly less annoying.
  6. I didn't download your plan but I would check to see if you accidently marked the brick as "framing".
  7. When you delete the current floor, the floor above should move down so it might not look like you deleted anything. If you have the project browser open, you should be able to look at the floor levels and see the last floor go away. If that doesn't help, then maybe you need to post the plan.
  8. For an exterior stair to show, you either have to create a fake room with invisible walls and make it open below or use reference display. I would probably never draw it manually, but if I really did want to, I would do a cad detail from view of just the stair I want and then make it into a cad block. Of course if I wanted it aligned properly, I would turn on reference display and then I might wonder if maybe I could use the reference display instead of having to draw it. So I would create a new layer set that just shows the stair and setup a saved plan view with reference display turned on using this new layer set (and being sure to turn off XOR mode since you probably don't want to ever use XOR when using reference display for construction docs). And guess what, now I have a view showing the stair that is live so that if I have to make any changes then I don't have to redraw anything.
  9. Like T, I always use the rectangular polyline tool instead of the cad box tool. The only reason I ever need a cad box is if I really want a cross box or insulation. So I never actually use the cad box tool.
  10. Select the electrical connection. Use the "open object" tool. In the dialog, go to the "line style" page. You should be able to change the layer from the default "electrical connections" to whatever you want. If you don't have the open button or the line style panel, then my only guess is that you are not using X15 Premier.
  11. Is your elevation view a "vector view" and your full overview is using a "standard" render? If so, then your problem is most likely that your pattern does not match your texture. Vector views use patterns and render views use textures and if you want them to match you need to make them match in the define material dialog. If you can't upload a file, it could be because you have it currently open in Chief. Or maybe it is too big so you need to try making a zip file (compressed archive) of it or making a copy of it and deleting everything that has nothing to do with the problem.
  12. You should usually draw your stairs going up from the current floor to the next floor. They will then show up on the next floor as long as they are in an open below room. You can handle most other situations using reference display.
  13. You should be able to open the dialog for the electrical connection and assign it to any layer you want.
  14. Try checking "open underneath" in the stair dialog.
  15. Well I certainly appreciate all of your efforts but shouldn't she be facing the other way?
  16. I think you will only get the simplify poly tool when Chief thinks the poly can be simplified.
  17. Switch to the saved plan view you want and then use the "edit active view" tool. Go to the "selected defaults" and set them how ever you want.
  18. This is always a problem if you place a sink or cooktop into one cabinet and then try to drag it to another cabinet. Chief won't transfer the ownership from one cabinet to another (must be some weird rule about license transfers not being allowed or something ) One way to avoid this problem is to just always place the sink in your plan as a free standing sink. Now you can drag it on top of any cabinet you want and it won't be "owned" by any of them but it will usually work with them just fine. The only real difference I know is that it won't automatically make your drawer box a false front.
  19. No. Lights will only sit on the ceiling surface and can't cut a hole in it. You might be able to get what you want by making a custom hole in ceiling though.
  20. @Doug_N I think you are doing it the hard way. You don't need to manually assemble your railing using 3D solids. Just select one of your sloped top balusters, convert it into a millwork symbol, and then just replace your default balusters with your new symbol. Boom, fully auto now. I think the stacked railing is a good way to handle the top rail but in my previous picture I cheated by just using the bottom rail and moved it up where I wanted it.
  21. You can't make the back of a cabinet sloped, at least not very easily. In this case I would just make a 3/4" deep cabinet to represent the front face. If you really need to show the shelves behind it, then I would just create them manually. If you absolutely need to show exactly how that cabinet would be built, then you could probably model the various parts with polyline solids.
  22. You can use as many of these buttons as you want all setup to place different objects..
  23. You can't add or remove buttons from the electrical drop-down toolbar or menu. Only Chief can do that. You do have some control over what gets placed for these tools though. Take a look at your electrical defaults. You can assign whatever library objects you want to use for them. Keep in mind that each electrical tool can place one of several electrical defaults depending on where you click. For everything else, you can get it from the library when you need it. If it is something you need to place often, you could always create a custom library button for it.
