  1. Perhaps consider the company Mark got his at AVA-Direct , I am sure he can give you the skinny..... the system will be far more upgradeable that anything from Dell going forward.... M .
  2. make sure you Check their CDN Warranty / RMA .... I see a number of reports on this PS , with High performance Videocards causing Power-offs though they supposedly fixed the issue...... M.
  3. I have 3 monitors and use two for Chief regularly but always use the ALDO and PB and Library on the other screens now that it seems that particular issue is gone, ( Scrambled toolbars) at least for me. Windows PowerToys (PT) has Fancy Zones which similar to Ultra-Mon. and also lets you use Multi Monitor Configs now... but I use PT for the Image Resizer mostly , which the Author had re-inserted into the Modern Powertoys about 2 years ago.... PT is now on Git-HUB since M$ now owns it. M.
  4. Yes big price drop in the last month or so , that's why I thought you maybe going for it.... M.
  5. Make/Made EVGA's PS too, along with Sunflower who does the G Series I believe. And another Typo on that Mobo it is MSI , not MS1 Mark's thinking isn't wrong but ay the moment it maybe about supply too , getting a 3080Ti maybe easier ? I have not noticed any difference in Chief myself on either system here. M.
  6. Is just fine ! ......personally I like EVGA is all..... it just isn't that much faster than the 3080 if Chief is your only Plan? Which Corsair NMVE? the MP600 XT PRO is PCIe 4 and quick..... 7000 mbs... about twice as fast as a PCIe3 drives at 3000-3500mbs. Depending on the Mobo , only 1 nvme Slot maybe be capable of those speeds though on 11th gen....worth checking perhaps. don't cheap out on the PS 850-1000w should be okay ... ( EVGA 850 G6 here was $90 cheaper than the 1000w) except for Nvidia 4000 Series maybe.... I might be going 12th gen myself is buy now..... money saved on GPU could go to that and a 12900K or the 12900KS even ...if you can get one.... M.
  7. Happy to help , I figured it was mostly Settings and perhaps a smidgen of CA experience ( learnt the Hard way ) was all it needed, the only thing that maybe not obvious would be the pulling up of the (drop) wall ( where ceiling is lower) in elevation at the extension / bump out Room and setting the "lower wall if butting Roof" in the same wall. I would normally put a ceiling plane (or P.Solid) in the lowered ceiling area as normally CA wont fill the hole on the bottom of that wall that was pulled up manually. M.
  8. I think from your sig. (Thinkpad) it is likely you are using an Intel VideoCard (Iris?) and Chief sometimes has Issues with the Intel Driver. Turning off Global Illum. is one of the Troubleshooting steps for PBR Views....normally. M.
  9. It maybe a Driver/Hardware Issue so best to fill in your Forum Signature ( see mine below) with those Details and what version of Chief you are using as well. Mick.
  10. Hi Larry , it is do-able without any P.Solids etc but I don't believe your "Test Plan" Defaults are setup per the Real house ( in Pic ) ie the Ceiling heights, Wall Types etc which makes all the difference in this case , as you are right there is a BUG - ( report it) with the Roof plane removing the Balcony Floor automatically IF it is too close underneath( I didn't workout what the vertical limit is ) but with some guesses at ceiling heights etc and a bit of playing it all seems to work out..... Plan File : MHD_roof_deck.plan
  11. that is a turn around....No sure if it is now done in-house but it used to be the only part of Modern chief , done by a 3rd Party. *most email severs can handle 25mb, not 5 mb but I can see how 5 would be a major issue if that's what the municipality has sets theirs too. M.
  12. Thanks for sharing Alastair....... M.
  13. Once unzipped (extracted), Joe's file is a .json (or macro file) which can be import via Text Macro management as seen in Eric's posted Pic above. M.
  14. Hmmmm was thinking April 1 myself especially since someone can't spell Chief M.
  15. Nicely done Joe ...... looks good. hopefully this is a fairly simple easily "panelled" Commercial Job.... Mick.
  16. If that is a wall elevation , open the Camera's specification DBX and uncheck Clip to Room and on the Plan display tab select both sides then in Plan view you can single click the camera and grab the handles on each end and drag them whever you like them to clip the view ...or snap them to a wall etc. M.
  17. Ok I didn't realise it was for the Schedule , make sure to keep the Schedule in it's own CAD Detail as Framing Schedules "in Plan" can really slow Chief down as it needs to refresh the whole schedule every time you move the view or zoom in and out. *If you don't know Ruby PM Chopsaw , I know he can get you going at a reasonable Cost. Mick.
  18. (3) x 32" BENQ (Flat) 2560 x 1440p CAD/CAM monitors (BL3200) for me , the newer models have built-in KVM etc which would be nice ....... Tried the Dell 32" 1440p curved last year and was sent 2 Bad units and it took 4 1/2 months to get my money back... never again ... All on a custom 30" x 84" Desk I built...... I did try 4K monitors before the BenQs but found everything including text "too small" with my eyesight and the need for Glasses, for both Computers and Reading now and no doubt driving sooner or later * newer model is the BENQ PD3200Q https://www.benq.com/monitor/designer/pd3200q.html
  19. Assuming you need the Boards for an Order from the lumberyard ? Then.....In your Plan Defaults , goto Structural Member Reporting and Set it to BUY LIST , Chief will then tell you how many 8',10',12',14' etc you need to Order. Use the Edit button to set up new Materials and change the Priority Order and delete defaults already setup you don't need. * Do this in your Template Plan as well , so you don't need to do it for EVERY Plan.... M.
  20. That works and I use it a lot myself ... but most PDF Applications , even the Free ones, have a built in Snapshot Tool which I find useful. M.
  21. It is hit and miss for everyone, some are good on Win11 , some not so much , and some of us are having multiple issues on Win 10 still even with last weeks Update including but not limited to a full crash again yest. - same one I experienced as just after loading the Update.... so NO the 3D Engine apparently still needs more work.... since it underlies EVERYTHING in CA. Mick.
  22. Same problem today after another crash with the new Update..... and still get and error in my layout from the 1st crash on Thursday I can't seem to cure.
  23. I had to reset my Default Plan Snaps setting after the latest update last week, they appeared to be enabled ( icon box checked ) but I had to toggle it on/off to get them working again , at least I think that's what got it going again. Mick
  24. There used to be some in an exterior attachments bonus library from Chief. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/3d-library/index.php?r=site/detail/635 Mick.
