  1. Thanks Glenn, I'll keep that in mind , I actually didn't find a light Issue in the Stripped down Plan , but there is alot of Wall mis-alignments etc due to some weird wall definitions, it is obvious the plan has been played with alot over the years. M.
  2. Did you just Open the plan in X10 or did you Try copy and pasting into a X10 Plan? copy and paste could be an issue yes. M.
  3. This was My initial thoughts on walls but I have seen a numbers of plans now from here on the Forum with Light Bleed Issues and most were fixed by changing the Wall type to an Exterior Type...what that change also does I am not sure, in regards to how the Light engine works, ( maybe nothing?) , so I am only speaking from personal experience and maybe it was purely luck? but it's not the 1st plan of Aamir's I've seen this the Issue...or maybe it is the same plan ? worked on over the years?
  4. As you will see I changed many of the Walls to how you normally build there , as well as playing around with a few other things to make it work better, if the Building is between two other Buildings it maybe better to ROUGHLY model them too so you can pull the Roof Plans right to the other Buildings. I think I remember working in another plan of yours and the Issue there was also that you had use Interior Walls for Exterior walls and light was bleeding into the house.... There shouldn't be any reason you can't move the plan into X10 or even X11 if you have upgraded this week. Mick.
  5. It calculates Sqft/Sq/m just fine George , the Issues normally show up when you use Count (Sheets) not Area , that was why I suggested Michael use Area and then use the Macro to convert to Sheets for better accuracy. Not sure if it still does it used to have an issue with Conc. Block Calcs as it only used Sqft/Sq/m for the Calc. which means the Order was normally short. have not checked in X11 if that has improved. M.
  6. Unzip Rene's .calibz to it's own Folder and you should have all the .jpg and .png Files, copy to the Data\Textures Folder , then you can re-associate them...
  7. try this : Use the Library Import Button , don't Drag and Drop I have seen this on some of my shared Libraries too. Imported just fine for me from the Symbols Forum. 10 items correct? Package Imports into X10 as well ...but won't open there , I did it 1st there by accident Mick
  8. As Eric said Q&A is the best spot but you could export the Annosets and Layerset and Defaults from your Template and then Import them into the new Drawing overwriting the Existing in all cases. Worth a try with a copy of the plan anyway. M.
  9. You need to set ALL the wall Roof Directives not just one to 1/4" for a Hip Roof , if it is a Shed Roof (Mono Slope) you want you need to set the right and left wall to Highshed/Gable and the Top wall to Full gable an the Wall's Roof Tab. In the Build Roof Tab is a Tab called Roof Styles that shows you how to build all the Common Roof Types or check the KB Tutorials too : https://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00359/automatically-building-the-basic-roof-styles.html Have fun ! M.
  10. Thanks Rene....only 1/2 way through the Video so far.... PS post 12 looks like it lost an image of your Toolbar... Mick.
  11. ML Macro and image above is X11 that's why I asked....
  12. Set the Material to Report Area as I said above ... in the Material Properties ...are you on X11? this is in the Code Column macro =(count/32).round to get the 8' Sheets (4x8=32sq/per) =(count/45).round for 10' x 54" drywall with 9' ceiling M.
  13. 3 for each wall and 4 1/2 sht for the ceiling right? , so it would allow 18 same as we would as that's what you need to buy in this case....it isn't always that accurate though as the 10' x 10' room proved
  14. It only allows full sheets , even a 1/2" strip 8' is gonna get a full sheet if needed in the ML as it measures each wall , not allowing for the 1/2" thickness in the corners for sheets already on.
  15. - Couple of thoughts...... are you 10' x 10' to framing or Drywall? 1" makes a difference to CA , as allows full Sheets, so for example you would have 4 on the Ceiling, plus 3 for each wall. (16 x 32sqft/sheet = 532sqft) so best to Set Area not count on Drywall and use a macro to get Sheets (count/32) Personally I'd use 10' x 54" Drywall , so 11 sheets ( 10.5 actual ) , can be done in CA ... just don't use the Default Drywall it may = say 12sht due to room size though, their are 8' and 12' x 54" libraries , so I just copied a Set and made a 10' x 54" Library - got Gable Ends? CA adds Drywall on the inside as it uses the Default exterior Wall for Attic Walls , you'd need to change the walltype..
  16. I have seen a few Reports that 418.71 is the best driver currently , .81 and .91 have a few Issues , though the issue may not effect your set up? I am back on 418.71 at the moment as they were better than .81 for me. My Issues are not CA related though. 17. Ok got it Aamir..... did the Room have any light Fittings in it before you strip it ? CA will add a ceiling light to the Room if there isn't one placed by you as CA needs "light" for the 3D views. Are you still using X9? is your Signature correct? I will need to use the same Version as you.... - Always a good idea to build a foundation , even if you don't need one for the Project , as CA expects one and so Lighting works better.. same for a Roof , add one or a floor above - I am not sure what the Large Brown "Boxes" are ? see red arrows, are they Correct ? just decorative? - You can see the Roof needs to come up perhaps another 2-3", using Main Layer only for your Walls means you can't see that the Roof is "in" the Wall. - The Gap is in the room on the 3rd Floor Correct? not the 2nd floor where the "light issue" was? ( I don't see the light problem now either ) I think it maybe because like on the lower roof (2nd flr) the Roof plane does not extend fully over the walls, except at the front. *Walls in CA NEED a Roof / Ceiling to Build upto. *** I think that was the issue - You are also Using Interior Walls, as Exterior Walls in the Plan which may or may not help with the "light issues" you are experiencing. I'll make a Wall Type and see. It isn't Perfect , but here is your Plan back to have a look , done in X9 .........................Aamir77_gutted_MHD_Rev1.plan M.
  18. Using the Plot Plan and symbol ( and perhaps a Plan Footprint) are really only for Siting and generating a few Views and doing those few pages of your Layout , you would then Work back in the Main Plan, if you need to make changes to the Existing house as the Symbol isn't editable once made. If you decide to do it all in one plan since you have a workshop to do too now, it maybe easier to Copy the Terrain into a copy of the House Plan ( always make a backup copy before doing this type of thing in case it all goes pearshaped) Sounds like it's all going in the right direction now from the rest of the comments.... M.
  19. If you use it or xvid your file sizes will be much reduced as well.
  20. I can't tell from the Pic what the White "gap" area is .. stripping the plan is still be best idea if you want some help. One thought is that perhaps you have two roof planes there drawn one on top of the other by accident? ie one roof plane hidden inside the other? The Roof does not continue over the wall at the top of the Building , not sure if that is where the Light "leak" was , see my image below , the roof plane should be like the Blue lines I marked. the yellow arrow is where the exterior wall layers look messed up , where the Gap or 2nd roof plane is... that wall looks really think but it maybe correct? M.
  21. Not at all my friend , just pointing out the error of your ways and even gave you your answer, even though you were too lazy to do it properly.....
  22. So the material is that building's Siding? , I did not pick that up from the material name or the Material Image , I was looking at the Red Tile in the Image .... but thanks
  23. Why would you quote a 4 year old post about a missing floor to ask about sloping Walls? ..........which by the way CA can't do.... Post your Own questions over in the Q&A Forum.... M.
  24. they work pretty nicely for quick and dirty false Beams etc with the Sloped Soffit Setting but as Perry mentioned you don't see Moldings once they leave the horizontal plane and you have to check ignore Room moulding too as they will only follow the Plan View shape of the Soffit on the Horizontal too even though the soffit is sloped.
  25. Hi George , thanks for this , it looks really nice .... question about the 1st post .....what is a Mini Micro? what am i missing in the images above?
