  1. Thanks , but the Solution was really Chopsaw's I was just reinforcing his post incase you had doubt's. Mick.
  2. Check that some roof planes don't have the material set to 0" thick = invisible And for existing Roof planes Use Edit All Roof Planes , not the Roof Defaults. or post the plan....
  3. The stairs are actually a curved section as you can see in plan view but the treads extend out to the Wall in the corner if the Winder setting is checked, but AFAIK CA still "thinks" it is a curve stair , hence some manual cleanup above the Winder Treads, though personally I find the Auto Stairwell Hole is rarely correct and needs adjustment , though it is a good place to start. M.
  4. Have you worked through the Tutorial Guide by Chance? it's all about Defaults at the beginning.... ie the Walls , Roof, Foundation etc etc and only then Drawing.... https://cloud.chiefarchitect.com/1/pdf/documentation/chief-architect-x13-tutorial-guide.pdf 1. Yes every new plan uses the same Plan as a Template and apparently Auto Roof is On in your Template. 2. The Template also controls the Wall Type, default is Siding, so no it won't look like your House ...how would Chief know what your house looks like? 3. Place a Full camera inside the house instead of using the full overview and turning off Layers> Ceilings or use Floor Overview instead 4. No...don't use a Slab.... build a New Floor Foundation > Mono Slab. 5. at minute 4 approx, you are on level 0 , you are taken there on making a Foundation, so all you see is the Monoslab, then you delete it, which immediately takes you back to level 1, when all you needed to do was go up one level to level 1. Mick You might want to attend this on Friday too ? https://register.gotowebinar.com/register/3788144529700321551
  5. I tend to agree with Eric especially if you plan to pass off the Plans for ConDocs later. HD Pro is now $600 ( Sept 1st 2021) but they immediately put it on Sale again , so it is back to $500 currently for HD Pro 2022. M.
  6. I think you got it now ? but Chopsaw is right...... Existing Roof planes do not rebuild via Defaults ....in newer Versions it will warn you that you need to use Edit All Roof planes instead.
  7. I had thought that too ( getting old?) and tried that 1st, (*) but ended up having to use the method above with the Terrain Wall. (On a slope the no room def. setting seems to be ignored and 1 wall replaces the other ) I can't remember if this was an official method and we lost some functionality somewhere along the line or if it was always a "workaround" in earlier versions. M. Edit: *I missed you said both walls were No Room Def. you need 1 of each as mentioned below....
  8. Yes, that was what I was thinking , it was changed years ago in most places I've worked. M.
  9. just curious if that is allowable in Oz? it wouldn't meet Code in most parts of Nth America AFAIK due to there being nowhere to step. (Put your foot) M.
  10. I don't think I have any "inside" info in that regard , but can imagine it may have something to do with certain Wall types, having (auto) framing which wouldn't be possible. ( programming nightmare ) If you can't get the look you want ie the Lattice, then the Option, like I did above, is to make one Panel ( polyline solids multicopied ) and save it as a Millwork Symbol (Railing Panel Option) and apply it to the Fence. Mick.
  11. Perhaps you should put a tutorial in the Tips Section , since you seem to have the DL on this problem as related to Chief at least.... M.
  12. You can place a Railing on a Terrain Wall and use the Follow Terrain Setting ( or Step as below ) https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-01003/adding-fencing-to-stone-walls.html M.
  13. What did it say? pretty sure I used X12 as I saw it in your Sig. ...try the ones below as the plan is definitely in X12 I actually think you would be better off just making the Door a symbol ( no frame or transom) and installing it into a Hinged Auto Door Frame and configure from there.... Front Entry Door - Half Circle Motif.calibz Arched Front Entry Door.calibz
  14. Setting it to Fixed , not Auto in the Symbol Options , should fix that. Once you place it in a new plan you need to set the height to 152" ( will pick up default 80") and set the Arch to Broken at 32" Arched Front Entry Door.calibz ** see note in my 1st post
  15. Zip the plan File or if needed a Link to the file on a Cloud account You can use the Windows Snipping Tool ( or mac equivalent ) to screen grab pics and post Images as well. You might want to do your Forum Signature too ( see mine below) making sure you mention X10 as the answers maybe different for X10 vs X13. Mick
  16. What you saved to the Library and Exported is actually an Architectural Block not a Symbol, ( drop into a new plan to check it) once it is a Symbol ( convert it ) you should be able to use the CAD Block you show as the Symbol's CAD Block by assigning it to the Door using Open Symbol>CAD Block Tab. ** If you convert it to a Door Symbol ( door's are parametric ) you can't control the CAD block but can still place the cad block Manually. and maybe the easiest way to handle this particular Door to get the Round/arched Hole in the Wall. Mick.
  17. Kind of..... Chief uses the Floor Structure Hgt + 6" or 8" if it is left on Automatic in the Terrain Spec. DBX...... pg 1172 X13 Manual The program automatically positions Floor 1 a set distance above the terrain. To do this, it first finds the center point of the building footprint. Then, it determines the elevation of the terrain at that point. Finally, it adds the thickness of the floor platform to this value. If a foundation is present, it also adds the thickness of any sill plates plus either 6” (150 mm) or 8” (200 mm) depending on the foundation type. The resulting value, referred to as the automatic Subfloor Height Above Terrain, is how far the default height of Floor 1 is above sea level in the current plan.
  18. There are also other known issues with older MAC systems listed in the known incompatibilities page : Intel Graphics Error Associated with macOS 10.15.5 Update Products & Versions Affected: Chief Architect X12, Chief Architect X11, Chief Architect X10, Home Designer 2021, Home Designer 2020, and Home Designer 2019. Platform: macOS 10.15.5, Macs with Intel UHD 600 series graphics Description: Starting with macOS update 10.15.5, Macs containing a single Intel graphics card may experience a graphics card error message followed by freezing or crashing when applying a material in a camera view. Solution: There appears to be a problem within the graphics driver that is packaged with the macOS Catalina 10.15.5 update. We encourage you to report the problem to Apple here: reportaproblem.apple.com. Additionally, when the program crashes you'll often be presented with an option to send a crash report to Apple. Please click the option to send that report to Apple so they have more information on the problem and can hopefully get it resolved quicker. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/products/known-incompatibilities.html
  19. I remember you uninstalling Nahimic last year but a Dell update may have slipped it back onto the system? Chief now acknowledges this Issue as a Known incompatibility along with RivaTuner and several other Apps. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/products/known-incompatibilities.html Mick.
  20. No time to look at model sorry , but have a play with the Wall Edit Layers Tool , the issue in the 3rd pic is common at railings.... M.
  21. Are you still on X12 ? I never had the issue on X12 but did on X13 during beta, made it un-usable, but it has stopped since the latest X13 Update for me. M.
  22. That's what I said 3 posts above and posted this on Tues. https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/16205-nvidia-drivers-updated/page/3/?tab=comments#comment-251107 Mick.
  23. David ( User Parkwest ) is in Boise https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/profile/11182-parkwest/ @parkwest
  24. Elevations are still 3D in Chief , they just look like 2D CAD..... you don't have any hardware details in you signature , but it is possibly a VideoCard Driver Issue I have a 3080 and am still seeing lots of flickering and corruption in 2D views.... M.
  25. thanks for the Reply Ed , it does seem like no one else has seen this issue yet.... Mick.
