How to create a shower wall/door that has metal frame ?
Kbird1 replied to nancyscial's topic in General Q & A
a .jfif was a new one on me for sure..... There was a Thread on doing these Shower wall types earlier this year...... OK finally found it ...I used a re-configured Railing in this post.....(get download for railing) the rest of the thread has other Ideas too. https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/31295-setting-default-cabinet-frame-and-panel-thickness/?do=findComment&comment=246884 -
Eyedropper inactive in MAKE NEW MATERIAL action
Kbird1 replied to GeneDavis's topic in General Q & A
Sounds like worth a report Gene , since Mark was able to duplicate the Issue. M. -
Probably my choice too but I'd make a copy of your default Ext. and Int. Walls and change the Interior drywall to 1/16th thick the Black metal material ( Library ) and change the Default Wall Material Region to 1/2" or 5/8 Drywall with the cut parent option on , then with one click on each wall you will have drywall and just need to pull the region down at the top the required Reveal (1/2"?). * I guess it's pretty much the same thinking about it, but was thinking this might be easier than dealing with 1/2" thick MR's up at the ceiling.

It maybe that your SSD/NVME/HDD is currently using an MBR Disk Partition Type rather than GPT which UEFI needs, but there is a free built in converter in Windows 10, which does not loss any Data , though it would be prudent to use Macrium Reflect or some other type of Imaging Backup type Program 1st just in case. https://www.windowscentral.com/how-convert-mbr-disk-gpt-move-bios-uefi-windows-10 https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000024558/memory-and-storage/intel-optane-memory.html https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/deployment/mbr-to-gpt Mick.

I suspect a Layer Issue in this particular case unlike the other Thread here : https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/31870-why-are-my-cabinet-labels-disappearing/?tab=comments#comment-253406 Mick

I believe She means Premier X10 , so the answers maybe slightly different than if X13 was in use. Mick.

I was wondering why the Detail you showed didn't show Ceiling or Wall linings..... With Chief's Room based paradigm and everything being life sized 3D Objects , you really want to build your structures ( walls, Floor Structures, Roofs Planes etc) just like they are built in real life otherwise you will (could) see weird things happening as all those structures interact with a Wall's Main Layer to some degree. M.
-
Once done you can move the individual lines (row) up and down with it's grip handle and organize them by Room for example. (Making the Room Column , the 1st Column may also achieve this , as it should sort alphabetically then instead) M.
-
Try making them .25" or .5" radius , then they are barely visible....they are usually 4" by Default. M.

That is what I did above.......and you can see the Brick building upto the Soffit only. I am not sure why you have 1mm plaster on the 99mm block or for your Ceilings though ..... Mick.

At least in this part of the world you have some strange wall definitions and roof baselines build directly off the outside of the main layer , but after a few changes and building the Roof with the Trusses Check Box on it seem to work ok? but I would still contact Tech. Support. Mick
-
I haven't looked into it but the Baseline should generate at the VSD Height based on the Pitch and the Rafter Size , and the Wall Pitch ( RWD) should override any Default settings in the Build Roof DBX. Unless something got messed up in X13 and only just came to light . MY VSD CHART :

Instead of a Fixed Window you can use a Pass Through instead and as it is a type of window you can also get it to corner join and turn off the Corner post , and then use a Single Panel Sliding Door Symbol which is easy to Transform the require number of copies along the wall while offsetting them their own thickness as well. You can either then block them together if needed or leave as single Units, so you can slide them open or closed as needed.... Here is the Plan File to play with..... Corner Sliders from Pass-through.plan Mick.

This is my experience with the Auto Bay/Box as well..... Mick

Your Images aren't showing Joey..... M.

And on a fixed price contract = good enough is good enough However I like to think Clients are/will be long-term and try thinking beyond the immediate future...... I am surprised more don't these days especially when 5-10yr Warranties are mandatory in many places now... M.
-
Course you do you are the Architect , and if it's on the Plans it should be on the job...... No doubt Fascia mounted costs a bit more but long term there are no issues and you can gain 3-4" more space in the Deck too M.
-
Okay that explains it , I don't allow Railings to be installed ON the Vinyl Membrane at all , seen way too many leak issues over the years. I typically always Fascia Mount Railings these days whether Wood or aluminium. Mick.
-
Not necessarily , but may depend on what you need to show and in what view . As you already Noted windows will join on Corners..... so Configure a Fixed Window to look like a Sliding Door , ie Floor to 8' (?), no frame, casing or sill, and setting the Sashes to the needed Sizes. You can then show it with or without a corner post...... Mick.
-
I am curious why you'd want the Railings sloped and not level in this situation? personally I wouldn't build it that way ITRW..... M.
-
you can also use a Polyline Solid drawn in Elevation , though normally I'd think that deck would have a waterproof membrane on it not Planks. M.
-
It maybe one of these two settings causing it, read up on them --- I have not looked at the plans...
-
I am curious as to the Reason of why use 3D Views rather than Standard Elevation Views in this particular case? M.
