  1. The status bar can be turned on/off in your preferences. I don't think there is a way to turn off the edit toolbar but it might not be visible on the screen. Try using the Reset Options in your preferences to see if you can bring them back. If all else fails, then you should try contacting tech support.
  2. You might want to review the list of new features that were added to both X12 and X13. There are a lot of useful new features and most of them have very little to do with rendering/raytracing. https://cloud.chiefarchitect.com/1/pdf/marketing/x12-new-features.pdf https://cloud.chiefarchitect.com/1/pdf/marketing/x13-new-features.pdf
  3. If you are not using Windows 11, or you are not using an Nvidia series 3000 video card, then it is not the same problem and you should follow the instructions in my first post above:
  4. Robert, Your problem sounds like the problems mentioned here: https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/32694-x13-internal-rendering-error-crash/?tab=comments#comment-256615 JPCompass has not provided enough information to know if his problem is the same.
  5. Just wanted to give you all a quick update... Our testing team is still having problems finding a reliable way of reproducing this problem or any reliable workarounds. They have setup a special test machine with a specific test case that will randomly crash but they have found it can take anywhere from 20 to 2,500 consecutive tries to get the problem. We are trying out new fixes using new theories daily but this random behavior is making it very difficult to find a solution quickly. Our current theory is that this is a video card driver issue with the new Windows 11 OS. We are also trying to work with Nvidia to see if they can help us find a solution for this problem. When we last spoke to them, they said they could not reproduce the problem. Unfortunately, they were not actually using a 3000 series card on Windows 11 when they tried. Hopefully, we can get this problem looked at by someone else there that is a little more experienced. If you are having this problem, and you have a reliable way of reproducing it or a reliable way of avoiding it, please contact our technical support team and give them whatever information you might have. Also, if you have an Nvidia 3000 series card and you are still using Windows 10, I would highly recommend that you do not upgrade to Windows 11 just yet. Again, we apologize for any inconvenience that this is causing and please be assured that this is still our top priority.
  6. This training video about creating a story and a half roof might be a good starting point: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/6130/story-and-a-half-roof.html?playlist=95
  7. There are a number of training videos about wall framing that you might find helpful: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/playlists/145/wall-framing.html?playlist=93
  8. First, you should check out this tech article: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00106/troubleshooting-3d-camera-view-display-problems-in-chief-architect.html If that does not help you to solve your problem, then you will want to contact tech support: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/
  9. Default Settings -> General Cabinet Defaults Turn on "Show Closed Doors/Drawers in Plan Views"
  10. Look at your locate object settings in your dimension defaults.
  11. Chief is very good at math. It could still be a programming bug, but I don't think its a math bug. Do your results change if you change your dimension defaults from "Grid Rounding" to "Distance Rounding"? Are you 100% sure that your dimension lines are actually locating the same thing? Are you 100% sure that the lines you are dimensioning to are actually parallel? Are you 100% sure that your dimension lines are using the same dimension defaults? Are you 100% sure that you did not already override your dimension string? There are probably lots of other things that could cause this problem but these are the most obvious things I could think of first. Assuming that it is not one of these issues, be sure to send your plan into tech support and someone will look into this further.
  12. In theory, yes. I would recommend that you close all programs when you do this though. Some of those temp files may by in use.
  13. Some appliances are designed to insert into cabinets and some are designed to be placed into a plan as a free standing object. The ones that are designed to insert into cabinets will have the 3D data offset so that it will be aligned with the cabinet face. If you place one that is designed to insert into a cabinet into a plan as a free standing object, the 3D data will be in the wrong position. If you place one that is designed to placed into the plan as a free standing object, the 3D data will be in the wrong position. In either case, the solution is to adjust the position of the 3D data using the Open Symbol dialog.
  14. See this tech article: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00106/troubleshooting-3d-camera-view-display-problems-in-chief-architect.html
  15. For some more info, see my post here: If all else fails, I would contact technical support during their normal business hours.
  16. The dialog box does not look normal in the picture you posted. Maybe this is a problem having to do with your screen resolution or maybe you resized something and got into this state. If the problem was the result of some manual changes you made, you could try going into your Preferences, and under the Reset Options, click on the Reset Dialog Sizes button. In any case, it looks like there is a scroll bar at the bottom of the dialog box. You should be able to use this scroll bar to see all of the controls. If all else fails, you might want to contact technical support for more help.
  17. Instead of putting a check in the material list column, you are going to check the display column. If something displays, then it will be used in the material list. You might also find this document helpful: https://cloud.chiefarchitect.com/1/pdf/documentation/chief-architect-x13-migration-guide.pdf
  18. You just need to use a different layer set with just the things you want to see in the material list turned on. I think it is actually simpler then the old system and just as powerful. You can see this tech article for some more info: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00510/controlling-the-information-that-s-displayed-in-a-materials-list.html#Layers
  19. As far as attaching lights to roof soffits are concerned, see this thread for some more info:
  20. In the future, I would also encourage people to review this tech article: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00521/troubleshooting-slowness-in-chief-architect-plans.html Turning off auto rebuild framing is a ways down the list, but it is there.
  21. If the warning is indicating that you have a wall that is set to an unusual angle, you will typically see another indicator attached to your cursor. You can actually turn the cursor indicators off but I would strongly recommend against this. Also, you should be able to hover over the icon or click on it to get more information about what the warning means. Regarding your plan file being too big to upload, the first thing to try is to save the file in a compressed archive folder (zip it) so that it is much smaller. If that is still too big to upload, then I would recommend removing things from the plan, that don't affect the problem area, until it is small enough to zip up and upload. One easy way to do this is to use the Delete Objects tool that lets you remove whole groups of objects quickly. And, as always, if all else fails, then you should contact our technical support team during their normal business hours. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/
  22. It helps to post a picture of what you are seeing. It also helps to add the program version to you signature because some things won't be the same in all versions. If your soffit is against the ceiling but it is not bumped up against a wall, deleting it will not automatically fill the hole the way it should. All you need to do is rebuild floors/ceilings (F12) to fix this. Lot's of other things will automatically rebuild your floors and ceilings so this problem is pretty well hidden. Regardless, when you run into problems like this, feel free to report them to our tech support team.
  23. This should not be necessary. If you ever find a case where you can't control the display correctly with the draw order tools, then please report this to our technical support team. Please include a plan that demonstrates the problem along with a picture of what you are seeing and a detailed description of what you are trying to do.
  24. Please see if this training video helps: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/61/controlling-the-drawing-order-of-objects.html?playlist=97 If you are still having problems, then you might want to post the plan so that people can try and figure out what is going on. Here is a post with some tips on how to get good answers when you post: https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/23-how-to-get-good-answers-when-you-ask-questions/ If all else fails, then you may want to contact tech support. Please note that this forum is not part of tech support. This forum is setup for users to help each other on a strictly volunteer basis.
  25. The ability to display multiple floors or other plans as a reference is only available in Premier. See picture below from the product differences.
