Question on creating non-linear property line walls
ericepv replied to KTLAdesign's topic in General Q & A
For your block wall, right click the symbol and select 'Transform/Replicate Object'. Once you are in the DBX, you can specify how many degrees to rotate the wall. For your slabs, you can build them from poly lines to your desired shape and then convert to a slab or solid. -
Open the model in SU, right click it and then choose 'Explode'. From there, you should be able to delete the items you don't need and export what you do..

You can import the CAD into Chief and then use it as a template to draw over. Be sure to turn on object snap when you draw your walls. There is also a feature called CAD to walls on Chief. I've never used it but this article from the knowledge base is worth a look. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00170/using-cad-to-walls-from-an-imported-dwg-dxf.html

Adding downlights/spotlights to wall niches in a media wall design
ericepv replied to Chill1212's topic in General Q & A
Place a ceiling mounted recessed light in your niche and then adjust the offset from ceiling in the general tab of the DBX for the light: -
While PNG files are generally preferred for editing (they allow for a transparent background), a JPG files are smaller which can make a difference if storing a large number of files. In either case, saving as a higher resolution (300 dpi or better) is generally required for print quality.
-
I supply my clients with a JPG file. Also,it's important to save at at least 300dpi to be suitable for printing.

Using invisible walls, I created a room within a room with a ceiling height that is 12" lower than the main room. I then placed the vent as shown:

You can use the CAD as a pattern to trace over.

Need advice on how to do this the easiest way possible
ericepv replied to DH7777's topic in General Q & A
I had a similar situation with some townhouse units awhile back. As I recall, it involved a lot of cut and paste. Take a look at this article from the Knowledge Base (scroll down to 'To copy and reflect a structure') https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00284/using-the-reflect-about-object-tool.html -
Make sure your video card driver is up to date.

I had a job like this recently, I drew the walls with poly-lines. It came out pretty nice but as Perry said, it's a pain.
-
This is what I get when I import the file into Chief: I think what you need is the ability to export as a PDF which my DWG viewer won't do. Perhaps someone with a full version of AutoCAD can accomplish this.
-
I was able to open both files in Autodesk TrueView 2021, this is what I got:

Place a doorway (blue) into the wall sized to the dimensions of your wall cabinet (red) and then place the cabinet into the doorway...

Trying to generate an exterior ray-trace view at night
ericepv replied to ADallas's topic in General Q & A
I've found that it takes some experimentation with the direction and tilt angle along with intensity of the moon. Have you toggled off the sun? -
Trying to generate an exterior ray-trace view at night
ericepv replied to ADallas's topic in General Q & A
Have you tried working with the 'Generated Sky' controls in the 'Background' tab of the camera DBX? You can control the moonlight intensity, direction and stars. -
Trying to generate an exterior ray-trace view at night
ericepv replied to ADallas's topic in General Q & A
If you want to create a nighttime scene, you should start by changing the color of the sunlight (as I did with the early evening scene below) . Your background makes a difference as well. It would help to post your plan. -

I ran into this same problem on a project last year.

One more option for the unwanted Freize section is to unlock the 'Roofs, Trim' layer and then individually select and delete that one section.
-
Just a few simple changes will take care of your issues The gutter is there, you just need to change the color so you can see it or view in Vector For the roof section where you don't want a Freize, open the DBX and in the "Freize 'tab, delete the molding profile For your protruding fascia boards, change the Eave fascia to 6"
