  1. Try FoxIt. I am using it right now. Pretty robust with editing, signing and comments. Printing has looked good so far on both my Brother All In One type printer and HP110p.
  2. Building area also for me sometimes. That would be the FAR + decks over 24" above grade or overhangs/eaves that project farther than 18". Fireplace footprints go into the building area and FAR.
  3. Post your plan. It might be an easy fix. It might be flying monkeys (whoa, there goes another one).
  4. Also, post the plan that you are having problems with. Chances are it is not broken at all. This is most likely a U18 error.
  5. There is a back up of your file and archived saved versions in the data folder "Archive". Unless you modified the path location it will be something like: Drive: Users/"Name"/My Documents/Chief Architect Premier X7 Data/Archives Find the folder with the title of your plan file and look for a usable version.
  6. Drag the attic wall over to be long enough to cover the gable. Hit the check box for "Roof Cuts Wall at Bottom" in the Roof tab of the wall.
  7. My thought is that you should post the plan. It could be a wall layers issue. It could be the sun (lighting). It could be your video card. Is Saturn in retrograde?
  8. Same thing at the range. I am not sure what you are doing (mostly because I am the only one posting any images and wondering why I would even bother doing that as no one but me and Micheal seem to care but I digress in a run on sentence that is not really even a sentence since it is supposed to be short aside thus the parentheses). Is the behavior I am showing what you want? If so, I did not do anything fancy. No additional skinny cabs.
  9. Oops. I forgot to mention that my image was done in plan. I can not imagine doing this in layout.
  10. This is the behavior I am getting when I have the left side of that cabinet butting up against another cabinet. This is the end of a peninsula.
  11. One way, although everything fades out a bit, is to make a polyline over the entire room and add a solid color with transparency. (x7 only) This has 80% transparency.
  12. It sounds like a job for multiple copy.
  13. You can not do this automatically.
  14. 1. HERS testing kicks in if new construction or over 1000 s.f. of addition. 2. To get a set of plans to pass the building official the first go around you must find out who to sleep with.
  15. Did you add a new object with a stainless material?
  16. If you have built the framing for the wall, the framing will show when you cut the section.
  17. Use a section view elevation camera and measure the result.
  18. You can also move the rafters and correct the framing after it is auto built by CA.
  19. It is a split level house so that may be the variation. It also may be bad math on my part.
  20. I usually am able to just use 2 files but have used 3 as described. If the demo file is extensive it is much easier as a distinct file so I can just have a demo wall style.
  21. Here is the data table I use for Carmel. Mine vary by jurisdiction as some are seeking FAR and some are not.
  22. If it is a detached garage just put the walls and roof on distinct layers and hide them. You don't have to hide a room if you hide the walls.

Hello Gerry, If you are going to do an online meeting as a Ruby primer I would love to be included in the meeting. I am just a novice (or pre novice) and would like to get an idea for a starting point. My programming in the past has been done through a lot of cut and paste when I was working on MEL scripting code using Alias MAYA. MEL is their unique code that is mostly C++ based. Thanks Alan
