  1. Todd, You can set the limit on number of passes in the DBX. Usually 10 is plenty. Try some sun light in the scene for effect. set for morning or afternnon when sun is low in sky and will come through windows. Adjust sun angle as needed. I use both the north pointer and sun angle and rotate the north pointer which rotated the sun angle. Also allow environmental light.
  2. In ray tracing ALL lights that are turned on process. So if you have lights on in an area or room where you don't need them for the scene turning them off will increase the speed of the ray trace.
  3. Maximum of 8 lights in STD render for most video cards. Chief will turn off lights based on proximity to camera.
  4. If CA would provide an option for open doors or a check to not show doors this all would make more sense. Otherwise just modifying the cabinet name should work.
  5. if you click yes it will take you to the folder where you can delete unnecessary saved archives. One thing that buds me is when I get this message on closing down, the file closes without taking you there.
  6. Always nice to have named brand items. Thanks Gene!
  7. That light bleed is a real PIA!. A rood never fixes it for me. Maybe turning off the sun. I personally think it is a BUG that CA should fix.
  8. Is it on a layer that is turned off? It can be on in 2D and off in 3D.
  9. Scott - a video on some of the more common uses would be interesting. Don't know that I have ever used them. I think many others would be interested in this. IF and when you have time......
  10. PS's are not in the CAD drop down menu. But whatever......... You could also use the terrain tool. There are however cad and PS items within that tool. One thing I don't think you can do though is make the actual bath ROOM. NOt as recognized by Chief anyways. You could probably also use roof planes and manipulate them. I am not inclined to actually do the above though.
  11. you can make many items form polyline solids. mirror, tile, glass doors and panels, cabinets, counter tops, lights, a tub, sinks
  12. Perry - it's a Logitech wheel mouse. Not sure of the series. I wonder if it has anything to do with the buttons on the side. Maybe I clicked one not knowing it and caused the changes. I will mess with it and see if anything changes.
  13. Is it just me (probably) or has the default edit behavior for the mouse changed? I find the right mouse button is now acting like the left one and visa versa. I changed to alternate behavior from default and now it is OK. I don't remember having the preference as alternate before the latest update. Has it always been this way (probably)? Am I losing my mind one little gray cell at a time? Thought alt behavior changed things but not. Why has my mouse behavior changed out of the blue?????(rhetorical) I have not installed any new/updated drivers. WEIRD........
  14. I think you may be able to draw a portion of the wall dimension it and then select the wall and click on the dimension and set it to what you want. Not positive but think that will work.
  15. I think in "real life" you would use a false front cabinet anyhow. Unless you get it custom made by a cabinet shop. Kind of a waste of money because the final amount of usage would be minimal if any.
  16. for a niche use a pass trough, polyline solid to close the back, no casing. Just size as needed.
  17. There is a video on that somewhere. I saw it not too long ago. Can't remember where though. Try chieftutor.com. I don't think it was called a California tie in though.
  18. Not sure why it is not there. That's where mine was before I moved it. Anyone else have it go to another location?
  19. I usually use railing walls customized for the job with material regions (now that we have that) and other miscellaneous polyline solids for corner seat, sill for niche, glass panels etc.
  20. SPEO is what I needed to know. Got them! Thanks.
  21. here is what I am getting. I got something else on another attempt. I think your green button was in with it but not now.
