Mark - And that is why they call it WORK! Seriously, if I were in your shoes I would want that also. I let my cabinet guy handle all that.

Copy the wall texture and rename as wanted and then you can offset it to line up with the wall. Room molding polyline for the base board

I have never had that problem. In SU, when you click on the model is the whole thing selected or just a surface or section? You may need to drag a marquee around the whole model, right click and select make component and then try the download and import.

Anyone Else See This When They Hit The Post Button?
Dennis_Gavin replied to Kbird1's topic in General Q & A
No, not here. Have you clicked on any of the GD spam messages that seem to be over-running the site? -
I looked at it in SU and it looked fine. Would not import into CA though. No 3D faces found. I think the symbol needs work.

Jenny, What prompted your move from 2020 to Chief? Never mind. Just saw your other post.
-
This if for patterns in vector views. Not sure why it didn't load when you installed Chief. YOu could probably copy it from your other computer and just put it in the location where it is looking for it.

works for me....;o)

Stairs recognize terrain. How did you make the concrete slab? Try making it as a terrain feature. My best guess.

David - on another note. I think I asked this before but don't remember getting an answer. I have your niche but cannot get it to resize below about 18" wide. I often use a 14" in showers. Is there a way around this?
-
David - Can you tell me where this ends up in the library? It is not under your normal DMDz listing that I can see. Can't seem to find it anywhere. I have this problem with other items on occasion. NEVER MIND. It was not in a folder but as a stand alone. Got it.

Thanks David. Nice to see you back. Hope all is well!

Larry - turn off edit object parts.

Interior Ray Trace, No Windows, Not Good
Dennis_Gavin replied to Dennis_Gavin's topic in General Q & A
Good tip on caustics. I will have to check if I have outside light enabled. Thanks! (I should already know this stuff!!) -

No, no foundation. This is for a bath remodel. Can try it though. -
Interior Ray Trace, No Windows, Not Good

Jintu - Ahay, thanks. One down! I did not know that was the sun coming in under the walls. How Lame on chief's part. -
I have had pretty good success with ray tracing some bath remodels but I am now working on one with no windows thus no sunlight or outside light. THe results are not very good. The overall look is not great plus am getting light leaks from under vanity cabinets. I did put a roof over the room but that did not help. I also tried with lights off except for one point light behind the camera but still not happy. This is one area I think Chief needs to work harder on. I know this could be done well in Thea but I have gotten away from it and don't have it loaded on this laptop. Does anyone have any recommendations for settings for rooms with no outside light? One other problem. One camera shot goes through two shower glass panels and the result was to blacken out the area where one panel visually overlayed another. i.e. shooting through two mostly transparent panels gives poor results. I can try another glass panel and see if that helps. Look at the difference between the RT with a window versus one without.

Tommy, Joe, Yeah, should have thought of that. Been tied up with "business stuff" and my mind has been fried! Thanks for taking the time.
-
David - you just import it and set it as an electrical item, light, switched. Set lighting in the DBX. NO need for added light source. I have done this for range hoods as well so I get a down light over the stove from the hood.

I have had that problem in the past and actually opened the material in PSP, rotated it and saved it and brought it back into chief. I don't know what caused the problem but that fix worked for me.
-
OK, At least I'm not crazy. (well, maybe....) Thanks for checking guys. Looks like I will have to trash that symbol.
-
Perry - did you take a 3D view of the symbol? IT is still huge. Not representative of the listed size. How did you reduce the size? Did you see that in my plan when you open the symbol the cad block(sconce) was not there?
-
it is not showing up. obtien BU.zip
-
OK, I inserted and changed it but now cannot find a way to associate it with the symbol. I also cannot get the actual smbol to resize correctly. It says 6x6x9 in the dialogue but the actual size is much larger. Something weird here and it might be me. Been that kind of week The symbol was imported from 3D wharehouse in the past. Oh, and I did not get notices that there were replies to my post. ??? wall sconce.calibz

Perry - the problem is I am not finding the correct place to edit the cad block. Under the CAD dbx and the CAD block management there are no options to edit it. I think I forget the process to get that block into an editable cad detail or whatever.
