DOH! one can only see what one is looking at.....;o)

Some do not appear free to ssa members. But if they are great. There are listings for FREE, SSA, and dollar amounts.
-
No, it's a bug and had been reported

just noticed chief has some catalogues for a small fee. Is this going to be the new normal? I wonder what the criteria is for free vs fee?

Tom - no rail style tab for stair dbx. Only for railing wall.
-
Having difficulty with getting a glass panel railing for stairs. If I use a wall that follows the stairs I don't get an option for rail to pass over newel and I get breaks in the top rail at each panel. If I use standard stair railing I don't have an option for newel spacing with panel and I am getting multiple panels going sideways. Suggestions? using X8

Changing Stain On Beamed Ceiling W/o Changing Grain Direction
Dennis_Gavin replied to capitaldesigns's topic in General Q & A
Select the texture you want click on it with the rainbow tool and change direction of texture to suite your liking. -
A lot depends on your equipment and the size of the model. Before deleting things I would first turn off lights not in the scene. Another thing you can do is use a couple 3D lights in the scene and turn off all other lights. IF you want lights to appear to be on you can set the recessed light lens to be highly emissive. IF doing these things still results in a long ray trace time then you could make a copy of the plan and delete things in the copied plan outside of the room/area you want to ray trace. Sunlight coming in through windows is also helpful and provides a nice effect.

"Any suggestions on how to model a trap door in a floor." Is this job for El Chapo? ;o)

Terry, IF you have a set up with slabs, polyline solids, material regions etc. you can take an overhead screen shot/export picture, and then use that picture as the basis for a material. That material can be applied to any slab without thickness.

Glad you found the path! Good Luck! I may have more time voer the weekend. IF I don't see a (successful) posting from you I will post my results.

Terry, First off those images are no good for making textures/materials. SHots need to be taken head on and with as little inconsistency in the finish/appearance as possible. i.e. no glare/reflectiion on a portion of the image That uneveness of look will repeat it self throughout the tiled material. YOu might be able to recreate those looks but it will take some time. You might consider using tiles from Dal tile and enlarging their size for the main field. the Cross pieces wojld be another material set to another item like a polyline solid(s) and then rotating and copying to create cross pattern. THEN when it is all assembled you could take a shot of it from overhead if created in plan view and then use THAT photo to created the material. Are you still with me? IT takes a little time and trial and error. I think setting the properties to polished would probably get the look I see in the photos you attached. I really don't have time today to work on that but maybe you can give it a try. IT will be trial and error.

you can create a material called polished concrete. USing an image from on line all depsned on the size of the sample as well as it's tilability. If you can get a good image you can tile it in a paint program. No need to have additional 1/16" if you make polished concrete as mentuoned above and apply to concrete slab on any thickness.

Some Of The Same Lights In The Same Room Do Not Work
Dennis_Gavin replied to AgChief's topic in General Q & A
lare - standard render 8 light max based on video card. No limit on ray traces which are done by the cpu. -
Also when I created a new wall type and assigned the outer layer to be stucco it was shown as siding in 3D, the default setting for an exterior wall.

Way to rock Kjellar! A hot looking lead singer in her 20's or 30's would help things! ;o) I was in a band in my teens and early 20's. Did stuff from Motown and some rock like Cream, Chambers Brothers, Hendrix etc. Had a lot of fun. Keep on Rockin!!

X8 beta is not yet released to SSA members. But I sure wish it were! C'mon CA! Oops, just saw the announcement. I have to head out but will et it later.

o to the material and make a copy of it running the opposite direction and add to library. You will then have both directions available.
