I find it hard to believe that Canada is more invasive than California., I really don't think so ,.but I have never drawn a job in Canada ,and if so I would never want to..

Chief has a very nice building , has everything they need probably not cheap. But very nice., reminds me of silicon valley.

stir up those cans of worms, we'll have lunch someday. I'll bet your worms are so much better than ours. Plan views rule for me.
-
You could also just turn off rafters in that view and use soffits (sloping) for the rafters you want to show, any way this has sometimes been a problem for a long time.
-
make sure your valleys are correct and re-frame just those intruding roof planes.

with all the building height limitations here sometimes you have no choice but to use double gables with crickets.

Adding additional sill plates after the fact?
DRAWZILLA replied to woodcraftdesign's topic in Tips & Techniques
sometimes shear walls need to have a double bottom plate. -
runs fast on my system. It may depend on your video card and updated drivers or the whole system you have.

Funny ,I still get discrepancies between using the p-line method and the finish schedule method, they are not the same. When I use the p-line square footage method and split the house to garage wall, ( and I always use both ) as a check it will come close to being equal. I use p-lines for site plans and property calculation's. I have never had them match exactly and have thought of removing the s.f. column from the finish schedule.

I have done several of these in California and the answer is each city has their own set of rules and they all differ.. As for square footage all of the cities I work for use the exterior walls as a typical method of figuring out the square footage all around. you can use the finish schedule to automatically show square footage if you add that column in the schedule.--Be aware that chief splits the wall between the living area and the garage, everyone else doesn't..

It seems a long time to me also, I have also submitted it to tech. support but it might not be something Chief can deal with. I have 30 page plans that take forever to print.
-
Call tech. support , you should be able to re-install X8 and just keep it on your computer for this purpose.
-
Snagit for me also, never had any problem, for an extra fee you can use their online storage so you don't load up your hard drives

I have been using Joe's macro's for many years now without any problems what -so-ever.

I don't add any 3d osb or plywood to my plan b/c it's all covered up anyway, right now its all 2d cad lines on their own layer so I can show the holdowns and shear walls on the foundation plan also. I f I try to show any 3d plywood then it will create a line on the elevations b/c of the wall thickness difference. In real life the contractors will feather the stucco or fir out the rest of the wall for siding to match.
