  1. I have taken a truss as a template and changed the members in size to do this. There also is a "timber truss 1" in the lib.
  2. Did you make a reference layerset and is it turned on. Post the plan and so we could know exactly what's going on
  3. Barton, the answer is that if you want to change anything within the text, all instances of that macro changes with it. Like code references . Just open the ruby macro and change it there.. Scott, I'm happy to turn you on, anytime
  4. If you draw a wall over an attic wall it will remove the attic wall, in fact you can do this with any wall.
  5. I also use Adobe in a P.C. without any of those kinds of problems. I think it has to do with the add on (whatever they call it) that Chief uses for PDF's in the mac I don't think its Chief's fault though. They are working on it.
  6. Right now the apple products are experiencing problems with pdf's creating large files, Just ask Scott. Try a free pdf program and not use the built-in one Chief provides.
  7. Just turn off attic walls--no need to start over.
  8. Barton, text macro's are so easy to do, you just type it in and save it. Then you never have to save it again. Here is an example just copy it to your plan and open ruby and look at it. This is the easiest macros you can make. text macros samples.zip
  9. Listen to Gerry, he and Joe and some others are master macro makers.
  10. Camera's never copy transfer and never have, you can't copy them either. if you opened it in x6 then you might have to edit the camera's. There were changes in X6
  11. I know that if you have 2 monitors going and drag one plan to the other monitor, you then have 2 chief's going at the same time. Then if you drag it back it can look like that. One time I had 5 going at the same time.
  12. That would be nice but most of my notes wouldn't work for an other areas than Calif. b/c we have our own codes like CBC1405 etc. california building codes. Some of the macro's would be ok, it seems to me that a lot of people here just don't use macro's like they should be. Most of my macro's were given to me by others here over the last few years. Not sure if they want me spreading them around.
  13. I never use Nortons, and won't ever again.
  14. Your missing out on a lot of tools that can have you drawing much faster, upgrade if you can or don't and suffer like we use to.
  15. In the (print) dialog you can just state what pages you want to print and what you don't want to print also. Even if stuff is on that page you don't want to print.
  16. Just in case you didn't know Glen knows everything, you can count on his advice every time.
  17. Love Ruby too, even though, I use it as much as Chief lets me, and want more. Almost all my plan notes are saved in a text macro. If you place many references of the same macro in your plan, then that note changes, just open up ruby and change the text and all instances of that macro changes automatically. Nifty if you ask me. TIME SAVER!!!!
  18. Macro's are King, I use lot of them. They save me lots of time on every plan I do. Everyone should be using them, of course unless your retired.
  19. If you did the plan in X5, why don't you just open a copy of your plan in X6. These days the transfer is working very good, not like it use to many moons ago. I have brought up many plans from X5 to x6, without much problems at all. The problems come from much older versions, still can be done, but much fixing. if you had said what version you were using, this would have been my first answer.
  20. I don't think I could shower naked in front of her.
  21. If you can post the plan someone here can actually get you the answer. Looks like the roof gable is not connected well, try to re-connect that roof edge with the main roof. but without looking at the plan file, not sure.
  22. I also use 1/4" and also set my snap grid to 1/4", things for me go well.
  23. Can you post a picture of your problem?
  24. or create your own text style just for roof labels.
  25. Yes, worth it, for sure, but I do plans everyday. huge time saver with each new version.
