  1. d dot, I just threw that in because the expected way didn't seem to be working. You would normally work with this setting unchecked unless you are working on an older version plan where textures were mapped differently than the later versions. It's worth a 10 second try if other things aren't working.
  2. Do you have 3D View Defaults...Options...General Options...Legacy Compatible Texture Mapping checked?
  3. Probably! This is the Chief Architect forum. I think you need to go to the Home Designer forum...or update to Chief Architect.
  4. You seem to be using mixed terminology which is confusing your request. It seems that you need to save the 2D gas symbol (really a cad block) to your library. Then, from the Image Specification dbx..2D Plan Symbol, you can click Library and then select your cad block. Once you have associated your cad block to your image, you can then save it to the library and then your image and associated cad block will be tied together.
  5. You can raise the sill of a door to any height you want. It doesn't have to sit on the floor.
  6. Is your driveway made from a floor, part of the terrain, an object.... If follow terrain doesn't work, try Wall Specification...Rail Style panel...Build From...Generate on Low Platform. Otherwise...post the plan.
  7. You need to click More Reply Options (bottom right hand corner of the reply window). I don't know why, but if you are editing a post, it's not called More Reply Options - it's called Use Full Editor. Then down below the text reply window, you will find Attach Files.
  8. Select the room box. Transform/Replicate...Rotate
  9. In relation to cabinets specifically, we have a lot more flexibility when importing a .3ds than when creating a symbol directly in Chief. Why is it so? We should have the same options when creating a cabinet symbol directly in Chief as we do when importing a .3ds - that was probably created in Chief anyway.
  10. I think you exported it as probably a .3ds model and then imported it back into Chief. This allows you to save it as a cabinet symbol (base, wall or full height) where it has all the typical cabinet parameters and it acts just like a Chief typical cabinet.. You don't get all these choices if you try and save it as a straight symbol directly in Chief.
  11. I can't remember what formats previous versions used for the libraries and I don't have V5 installed anymore. It may be possible to change the extension of a .calibz file to a .zip file and then use the contained .calib file to import into a previous version.
  12. Na, didn't forget it, I am assuming that he just wants to move a certain distance (with nothing to snap to as the target). With point to point, you need an object as a target to snap to (otherwise click a random spot).
  13. Select the object/s start dragging them in the correct direction, press Tab, check Relative to Start, uncheck Polar. Enter the move distance in Y Position. Or Set your Grid Snap to the required move distance and select and drag the object. It will snap to the Grid Snap distance as you drag. Or, instead of dragging the object, use one of the arrow keys to move it by the Grid Snap distance. Or Select the onject and use Transform/Replicate...Move. Is that enough choice?
  14. Mike, What is your Preferences...Edit...Snap Properties...Options...Snap Distance set to?
  15. Victor, I can duplicate what you are seeing. In the attached pic, everything looked fine to start. I have only changed 3 of the pages as you can see. What I did was to select the layout box and uncheck Retain Aspect Ration of... I then dragged the top down and the bottom up to make a smaller box. I then used the corner handle to drag the corner and make the box larger. This results in the effect you see. To get things back to normal, I can select the box, open it's dbx and check Reset Cropping - I then see the full page.
  16. You can save wall types in the library. Open up some template plans and have a look at the wall types and save to the library the ones that you want. Or create your own wall types - it doesn't take long - a minute or less per wall? You could have done either of these in the time you have spent here.
  17. Victor, I am on Windows7. I can click on the multipage pdf's and change the page that displays. I don't see anything apparently wrong with the .pdf's I assume you are seeing the problem on page A4 where you have several .pdf's. There are 4off 81/2"x11" pages and 4off 71/8"x51/2" pdf's. Pic attached. As you can see, I can select the multipage .pdf's and change the page that displays. I am not sure if that is good or bad - but things are really slow with this file.
  18. Victor, I have had a look at your file and can't see any .pdf's that are huge or don't look correct. What pdf's are you seeing as huge? One thing that I did notice was that some of the .pdf's were multipage and you are only displaying one page. ie, CDworksheet current.pdf on layout sheet A4. Maybe why everything is so slow? I haven't had a play yet, but have you tried creating and importing .pdf's that are only 1 page per file?
  19. In plan: Preferences...Appearance...Display...Images and Pictures...Display in Color When Possible? In Layout: Open the picture's dbx. General..Display Options...Grayscale?
  20. You should probably ask this question on the Home Designer forum. When you select a layout border and open it's dbx, do you have a setting called Dimension...Number Height? You can change the dimension text size there, but you shouldn't have to if that is the correct size.
  21. Joe, Are you talking about snapping dimensions or snapping generally?
  22. Or... Preferences...Edit...Behaviors...Primary Movement Method...Orthogonal Alt+Q...Resize About...Outer Surface Turn on Reference Display Turn on On Object snap Select wall and drag and snap to outside of referenced wall.
  23. There are also lots of things that can be done with Chiefs tools. Why go to other programs when you can do it directly in Chief? This is done very easily in Chief.
  24. Mick, I don't get the shimmering, but what you describe is Z fighting which occurs when you get 2 materials sharing the same plane. Wall dbx attached.
  25. Mick, All looks good so far. One caveat - v5 may do things differently than v6. If it were me, I would get rid of those zero thickness wall layers unless there is a special reason for them. Now create a very thin wall (3/32") and make it No Room Def and give it the Opening (no Material) material, make it invisible. Draw them in the corner as shown in the pic below - but keep them a bit away from the corners at this stage - you can move them closer to the corners later.. Then use the Break Wall tool and break the main railing at the wall junctions. You can drag the very thin walls and the break in the main railing will follow the walls as you drag them. Select the corner rail sections and make them Open, no bottom rail, The only problem I am now having with your drawing is getting full posts closest to the corners, Chief only wants to do half posts. I need to have another play - I forgot what I did to get the full posts.
