  1. Zowie, No need to edit the texture file. You can do it all directly with the material that contains the texture. Go 3D...Materials...Plan Materials. Select the material. Copy. On the Texture Panel Change the Angle. Do the same for the pattern. Change the material name if you want. OK out. The new rotated material will now be available in Plan Materials. Save it to your library for future use if you want.
  2. You should be able to model a roof like that all in one go automatically. For the Verandah and main roofs (gull wing), open theWall Specification dbx for the verandah railing wall. Go to the Roof panel...Pitch Options. Check Upper Pitch. Fill in the other boxes as needed. Define the walls under the gables as Full Gable Wall in the Wall Specification dbx. Auto build your roof.
  3. You have posted the .layout file. You need to post the .plan file.
  4. Alan, Save it as a symbol and then rotate it.
  5. Nicinus, There is no particular reason why your screen and printed line weights should be the same. Screen weights depend on the resolution of your monitor and zoom level. In your Drawing Sheet Setup dbx, the Drawing Scale should be 1/4" = 1'0". Not 1" = 1" as you show. This should be the default for floor plans if this is the scale that you would normally send a floor plan to layout. Secondly, with Line Weights toggled on, the line thickness in plan will change as you zoom in and out. The display of line weights in floor plan are not absolute in that they can be influenced by your monitor resolution. Zoom right in on a wall and see the line thickness increases - this assumes that you have some thick line weights in your wall definition and: There are some catches though, especially with walls. Wall lines (and cad lines, etc) can be defined by layer OR by the wall (or cad line) definition. I always like to define my wall layers Line Weight by unchecking "By Layer" in the Wall Type Definitions dbx. This then overrides the Line Weight setting for the Walls, Normal layer in the Layer Display Options dbx. Now, there is a further setting that can affect the display of line weights. Go Preferences...Appearance...Line Weights...Minimum Display Weight. Try setting this to zero.
  6. Lew, Stop stalling. You have been going on about recordable macros for years. It shouldn't be that hard to come up with a couple of examples. I need to draw a wall on most projects and build an auto roof - how will recordable macros speed that up? There are things that are repetitive like typing text, taking views, etc, etc, but there are better ways to repeat those sorts of things than recording a macro. The library, cad blocks, etc, work quite well and are easier than macros. I'll wait for you to give me some examples - how about even 2 or 3?
  7. All the Defaults are saved with the plan, so you only need to copy a template plan (or any plan) to another computer. Export and Import Hotkeys. Import toolbars with Toolbar Customisation. Preferences can be done manually. Graeme, I see you just posted as well - the Preferences transfer is always a pain, but doesn't take that long.
  8. That's just it Lew - I am having trouble thinking of a use for such a feature.
  9. Keep in mind that with this settings a line weight of 25 will print at .25mm thick which is easy to relate to the old Rotring pen sizes that us old fellas will remember.
  10. Then you need to set your garage floor height to zero. At the moment it is set at -18 3/4".
  11. Lew, I am at a bit of a loss imagining what I could use recorded macros for. Could you give 6 or so specific examples of how you think recorded macros could be used?
  12. How far below the main floor level is your garage flloor meant to be?
  13. If all you want is a flyaround movie, just use the Spin command on a 3D overview. No setting up paths or cameras, etc. I would still prefer to do an interactive Skype session and share my screen.
  14. Warning: You are drawing a wall. Did you really mean to draw a wall? If so, click OK to Continue or Esc to abort. Warning: You are drawing a roof, ........................ ...........
  15. Opened in Adobe Reader - no problems here.
  16. Rich, That picture would make the perfect icon for the Rotate Plan View tool - it describes the tool perfectly.
  17. Alan, They are .png files - images (pictures). They do not show up in a vector view sent to layout because they are not vector items. Read my previous message again.
  18. Alan, What sort of trees did you use - images or 3D trees? If you used images (pictures of trees) these will not send to layout with a vector view. If you want trees to display in a vector view sent to layout, you need to use either 3D trees or the Image Cad Blocks...Plants in the Bonus Catalogs library (these are 2D cad drawings which will display in vector views).
  19. Rich, The sun angle is the easy one. Your whole co-ordinate system will be messed up. +x will be up the screen (12 o'clock, instead of 3 o'clock) and +y will be at 9 o'clock (instead of 12 o'clock). Try it. This can get really confusing when using co-ordinates!
  20. Rich, Notice that the tool is called Rotate Plan VIEW, not Rotate Plan. ...the help file is quite clear: and If that is really what you want to do then go ahead and use that command. I was just trying to warn Timmy of some of the consequences of using that command. I have posted before that I believe that command should be deleted from the program (although there was once a user that said they used it), or at least a warning during it's use of the consequences of using it.
  21. Bob, I am a little unclear. Are you trying to get your toolbar back to normal and out of Space Planning Configuration? If so, click the Default Configuration icon on the toolbar. Or, right click on a blank toolbar space...Toolbar Configurations...Default Configuration. Toggling the room boxes doesn't change the toolbar, it just toggles the display of room boxes on and off!
  22. d dot, You knucklehead... Can you please stop referring to a dialog box as "dvx" - it is DBX!
  23. Generate a Perspective Full Overview. Start the walkthrough (fly around). Use the left or right arrow key to rotate the model one frame at a time. Instead of using the arrow key to rotate the model one frame at a time you can use Ctrl+Alt+S to auto spin the model continuously. There are all sorts of commands to move the camera in any direction you want, including up and down.
  24. Timmy, I strongly advise you to NOT use Rotate Plan View as Rich indicates as it will only cause you more problems. That command rotates the view OK, BUT, it also rotates the whole co-ordinate system. ie, it rotates the "drawing board". Use it and have a play to see the results, but do not use it to rotate your plan. You should be able to use Edit Area (All Floors)...Transform/Replicate...Rotate. I don't know what Ctrl-A is as I have my own shortcuts. Or, once you use Edit Area (All Floors), and then selected everything (including the terrain) with a marque, you should be able to grab the the rotate handle and rotate the whole lot with the mouse.
  25. Most of your problems are caused by your Attic Wall type being incorrect. When you designate a raking ceiling, you see the Attic walls above the normal flat ceiling level. The last picture looks like you have drawn a manual raking ceiling. To eliminate the newel post from the railing, increase the Newels/Posts spacing until it is eliminated. You will get more accurate answers if you post the plan.
