  1. I would encourage you to change your methods...having worked with clouds since their introduction I would be very hesitant to trust the recent files list to always be up to date. What is wrong with getting to know your file structure and opening the files directly from finder/explorer? It's just as fast and with the added benefit of having a higher likelihood that you won't be opening up an earlier version of the file I can also guarantee that you will start getting redundancies in your library over time. I have a video that goes over a method that works for me in the symbols and content thread in my signature. Syncing the inf file will occasionally crash your computer..I've tried it personally, not to get into the finite details but it has more to do with the cloud authoring methods than Chiefs handling of it's core structure. From a programming standpoint it wouldn't be a good decision to make chief cater to a moving Target...I know I wouldn't spend a ton of money developing something to work with a platform that could change next year just so someone can have an added convenience that they could achieve by other means
  2. Cloud computing is still in its infancy and its a rare occasion when core dll/ini or other native filetypes central to a programs execution are available for authoring and syncing...for many reasons, but namely, because of its implied volitility. Need some clarification as to what exactly you are trying to sync; libraries, preferences, plan/layout defaults, toolbars? Dependent on what you are looking for I would recommend different methods or would encourage you to change your workflow. I see no reason to sync preferences as they are simple to duplicate and would only complicate things trying to sync them in cloud. Defaults settings can be saved using the SAM method or simply saving plans as templates etc. Toolbars can be synced using symbolic links, same as libraries...though more temperamental.
  3. Only in CA can you find a flying pizza saucer somewhere out in the midwest.
  4. Yeah you managed to save the thumbnail, maybe loading as you said, thumb is in the image title, funny...and thank you!
  5. I think it happens with higher resolution images? Need to click on it
  6. Just thought I'd share a method, plain and simple, the attached image is a perspective vector overview with a 10 degree field of view and all materials modified to create the look. The view is sent to layout and sent backwards in the drawing order behind a site plan with annotations only. Enjoy!
  7. Here's a one I put together, Please note I have an eased edge molding on the custom countertop. RABS FARM SINK ASSY.calibz
  8. By adding a reference layer you have modified the saved plan view "Working Plan View." You will either need to save the plan view or if you switch to a different saved plan view CA will prompt you with a dialogue on whether you would like to save the modified plan view.
  9. Would strongly advise against this and is unnecessary as illustrated by Michael's post.
  10. If you cranked roughness of the material all the way up and set it to a matte material the issue may go away, but you have no gloss then
  11. thats not dismissing the issue or putting you down, PBR just illustrates the corners we cut for sake of production and hoping the tool will work in the end..unfortunately PBR has some core flaws that are difficult to fix
  12. It's all in the way you build, cutting corners on the railing end up causing an issue, elements need to be contained to one source of illumination. There are some funky things going on with that scene that I could probably help with, though I know its a pain to share your particular plans
  13. Can you zip it? Did you check the elevation of those lights? Maybe they are in the cabinet or above/below the floor height
  14. Typically happens when an architectural feature spans multiple rooms or breaks a plane to exterior
  15. Possible that your electrical is not on the electrical layer?
  16. You could accomplish this with a text and blank leader using macros as well which would leave the label alone
  17. Ahh, I missed the specifics. Thinking outside of the box I would probably modify the window labels to include the relevant information and drag the label to align as a sorted list on a side bar
  18. Only include the windows in that schedule from that active floor via the schedule
  19. CA severely limits the resolution of the spherical image upon import and their is no known work-around to speak of( that I know of). Typically it's worth the lil bit of effort to create an environment yourself...it will look more realistic that way anyway. There are a few empty house models I uploaded in my symbols and content thread located in my sig to create a realistic scene, take a look.
  20. In the last few years I started working with a gentleman that coached me into drafting complete plansets using the prescriptive measures of the code coupled with energy calcs; the various counties we work in have been very accepting of this practice..no engineers/architects stamp on a 2 story additions on raised or slab with 2x4 walls and batt fill only. If you reasonable show "competence" around here they let you through.
  21. No I didnt. Not sure that is entirely true.. from the NBCC referencing the NECB: "A competent person may also submit an alternative solution demonstrating that the performance of the building satisfies the objective and function statements attributed to NBC Section 9.36. as a means of compliance. Local authorities have the discretion to accept or reject an alternative solution."
  22. Just an FYI I do the same analysis in California for performance calcs using CBECC-RES to avoid adherence to table JA4 and adding rigid insulation to additions.
  23. under the framing tab in your window .dbx add a 1/2 inch for rough opening
  24. Shoot, I no longer have x-10 installed, here are the 3ds files you can use to import yourself..you will need to set the cutting plane on the center component yourself: 7 INCH CENTER COMPONENT.3ds 7 INCH LEFT COMPONENT.3ds 7 INCH RIGHT COMPONENT.3ds
