About the RAMdisk, Graham is correct in that I see the biggest benefit in Library, and though it's not quantifiable I had noticed a speed-up across a few of my active plans at the time of installing CA to RAM. an aside, the BIGGEST benefit I see from using a RAMdisk is outside of CA with the pagefile in my Adobe Suite and the temp directory for Google Chrome...adobe loading times re a fraction of what they were and Chrome feels supercharged. I have yet to have a problem with AMD's RAM drive as it backs up at close of session and automatically loads from previous state...with as much RAM as you have, changing your temp drives to a RAMdisk shouldn't effect anything, fun t play around with when your time frees up

If you have access to the X-11 machine you can go to File/export and export as DWG/DXF and then import into X-10..this would really only be useful if you were trying to grab the layout template.

Hello Fella's, framing members have their own layers, simply turn off roof planes and wall layers including attic walls etc. Leave all framing members checked to display and you will see only framing members. Don't forget the ability to back/side clip a section camera to better control your section view.

Probably, do a search in your documents folder on your old computer for ".calib" if you don't find it there do a system wide search. Once you find it you simply need to replace the existing user library with the old one. Go to Edit/Preferences/General/Folders/ and locate your new user library location. Copy paste the location in windows explorer and replace the file with your old user library

firmware for your video cards, also download geforce experience, make a google search, for some reason your monitor is not utilizing the 1060

Also you don't need to zip your .plan if it is all you are including in an attachment

I actually don't follow what the issue mightve been in the first method, can you illustrate it with a plan?

Mark has it right, your monitor is running off of the intel card, not the 1060...check for firmware updates, check options for software choosing the video card....check options in geforce experience app, you may need additional software/firmware/forceware etc.

Did you confirm that your 1060 is active..might also want to put your machine in performance mode, a lot of throttling built into your system

this help? it's not perfect, I could've busted out my calculator..I'll leave you to that...but its damn close. the other plane is -15 baseline angle with a ridge height of 100 and slope of -12 as shown.

worked on this for 5 minutes.. reduced the bump significantly on the tile ceiling, it was far too heavy adjusted all square lights to 200 lumens and set to have a slight yellow color set sun to 60000 L and applied a slight yellow color. changed backdrop..too much green, reflects into the room and tints all surfaces green. increased exposure and brightness, checked "improve lighting"

as I mentioned, you will need to adjust the baseline angle to match the slope of your roof which is 15 degrees. then set your slope of the "soffit" roof plane to the degree you want, like -12 etc.

Just remember you will need to adjust the "baseline" angle at the inverse gable ("V") side of the soffit

FYI Chief locating the My Documents Folder is simply that, it locates the folder for default settings which would store data at that location. As soon as you relocate your Data folder CA no longer looks to your My Docs folder...there is no need to mess with it

voted for floor structure, too many potential probs putting into the finish IMO. will you be incorporating your joists into the panels or a girder system under?

On X-11 now I use notes and a note schedule. There are a ton of different ways to do this, I personally use a method that most people won't adopt, as I find that most people place their details in CAD detail management. You can renumber your details whenever you delete a redundant one. You can even draw an invisible arrow from the note to the CAD detail to have the note populate the CAD details name in the text field. I personally number my sheets with a note/schedule so that all of my details auto number and auto page.

Keep in mind if you aren't using the method that I illustrate it can be very easy for one system to try to write to a folder at the same time as another system causing authoring issues. This can happen in a number of different ways...sync delay, sync errors can cause the user library not to sync at close of the program, then when you open your CA on the other machine it will use the previous library build causing you to lose your work or have conflicting and different copies of a library database. It won't matter if you are using different cloud folders so long as you are trying to sync the same library across two machines. Machine A needs CA to be shut down and the user library completely uploaded and confirmed in your cloud sync before you open machine B's CA. This can be very time consuming if you have a library that is over a gig on a slow connection...If for some reason you have a sync issue then Machine B will sometimes see a user library as locked and save its user library as "user library_machineB.calib"...making it unusable at next boot since CA will only look for "user library", and so you've lost your work.

Keep them on the second floor, you can adjust offsets in the fixture's open-object dbx. You can also edit offset in 2d sections or 3d space. The delete surface tool an d convert to symbol tools can help you if you have a fixture with a base built for a flat ceiling.

Running the data folder on a cloud sync is very problematic for a number of reasons...I would advise against it. You can however point your toolbars to the same folder as well as hotkeys etc..using the same methods for syncing libraries. Check my symbols and content thread in my sig...I go over a method for syncing libraries that a few people have had success with in an office environment.
