  1. @Lighthouse Temp Dimensions follow your Active Dimension Defaults. Consider making a new dimension default with 1/4" arrows
  2. POST 31 Free Vanity Symbols, download from YouTube Description!!: CLICK ME TO GO BACK TO THE INDEX!!!
  3. @dshall AND @Kiwideziner Those symbols relate specifically to the symbol classification of the available snap point types as it relates to the proximity of your cursor. Circle being a center point and square being an end point. If two snap types exist for one point, the program will use the "Extension Color" designated in your Preferences/Edit/Snap Properties/Snap Indicators.
  4. Maybe I’m missing something. I did want baseboard in the bathroom, just not against the curb. Is that what you’re saying we can do now? Edit: ah I see it now. Nice!
  5. Thanks Kbird- I forgot to address this but my SHWR room in the style pallette did not have room moldings so they were removed when I applied it to the room. You can see it in the video..there were a few tricks I didn't mention..oops I'll try and upload the shower glass texture tomorrow
  6. Either make room polylines for every room including the "exterior room" or create a reference plan
  7. Give me a call-(925) 300-7004, I've got a small window of time before a late dinner
  8. POST 30 New tutorial for building showers efficiently in Chief X-12: CLICK ME TO GO BACK TO THE INDEX!!!
  9. Thank you kind sir. I personally use my Library 90% of the time I am designing or drafting. I periodically update symbols in my library from Chief's updated items.I would say that I am well outside of the norm in this regard. I tend to improve Chiefs symbols substantially, and catered to my workflow. So even if Chief updates its symbols they are still of lesser value to me than my own modified version. I have 5 naming conventions I use throughout the several-100K files I store outside of chief that I carry to inside of my library. They change dependent on the level of importance in the sort order. "/" indicates a folder level. /(date)-(version/stage)/(name) i.e. /200330-DRVA/MOSSWOOD.plan /(date)-(version/stage)-(name) i.e. /200330-DRVA-MOSSWOOD.pdf /(classification)-(name) i.e. /Door-Green /(class)/(classification)/(name) i.e. /Doors/Green/2868-LH-OUT.calibz /name+folder of assets of the same name i.e. Door-Green.calibz and Door-Green/Diffuse, Roughness, AO, Sketchup file etc. Keep in mind that my best laid plans for naming conventions tend to get modified every 5 years or so. Also my actual filing system is far more complicated when you consider storing assets that comprise symbols/jobs/materials/photos etc. I would encourage users to spend some time setting up filters. It makes a huge difference. Also, maybe of interest to anyone here that designs for several different municipal/county requirements, you can make a separate user library for separate jurisdictions. So that if I am designing in California my windows all carry macros with specific energy code requirements.
  10. Add search attributes as you go. I also personally like to name in ALL CAPS to distinguish my symbols. I make duplicate symbols and store in multiple places that would be common to my workflow i.e. wet location LED in BATHROOM folder and LIGHTING folder. I add the last date the symbol was updated to comments in the symbol. Helps me keep up with symbols that contain macros or custom fields.
  11. Importing windows and creating windows has been a problem in the program a very long time... still wish I could make my custom Marvin Windows work correctly.
  12. I doubt you will have much luck in this venture, I am only aware of a few high schools that use the software in curriculum. It would take years for CA to be accredited curriculum for an Architects license, keep in mind it isn't just the residential sector that you have to learn to become an Architect. Drawing a few house plans is only a very very small segment of what it takes to own that $30K+ stamp. On top of a BA you need to past a host of tests and complete 1000's of NCARB hours under a licensed professional. It's a goal of mine as well, but don't expect to have tutelage in CA, I could almost guarantee it doesn't exist. I personally get plansets through my local county/municipalities without an architects stamp for most of the remodels and additions I draft for using the prescriptive code.
  13. Guess I should be more careful about my vector lines, doesn't look as great in watercolor :/
  14. POST 29 Place this sink into your cabinet and paint it the same color as your countertop to create an integrated sink top. Download: RABS INTEGRATED SINK CLICK ME TO GO BACK TO THE INDEX!!!
  15. I whipped this one up real quick, maybe a bit nicer: RABS INTEGRATED SINK.calibz It will cut the countertop flush and just paint it the same as the counter. Also you can play with this molding edge profile: RABS INTEGRATED SINK EDGE MOLDING.calibz
  16. Solid tools or if you dont want to model it, take a look in the kohler cat
  17. Cheryl, mind posting the .plan file as a backup with materials and that saved camera view?
  18. Remember that X-12 has a fantastic new tool "Save As Template" You can use it to save your improvements to layout and plan as you go and replace the default template with your new and improved one.
  19. POST 28 Sometimes you want to show the housing. Here you go. Halo 4 inch new construction with LED. Download: RABS NC HALO 4 INCH WITH HOUSING CLICK ME TO GO BACK TO THE INDEX!!!
  20. There used to be an inactive cameras layer. The OOTB template in X-12 doesn't have one, just "cameras,-type of camera-" which I believe functions the same for your purpose. This give the end user greater control OOTB for which camera's they want displayed
  21. What are you up to? Just updating old plans? i will be uploading some new PBR tutorials in the next few days
  22. Need to create your own macro, maybe DM @Joe_Carrick or @Alaskan_Son
  23. I would use separate .plan files for each design iteration. Send each to layout, you're on the right track
  24. Chief is vector based and is lossless/infinite/scaleable, when you go to print to PDF the vector graphics must be rasterized. Printing to PDF is not lossless. You have too many vectors in your pattern fill. Maybe try a solid fill instead.
