A long arch for a set of windows.

I have a dilemma.  I'm trying to make this set of transom windows above follow an arc.  I can arch each individually but cant get them to follow a continuous arch through the set.  I could make it one big window and then use 3D solids to indicate the casing & frame for 5 individual windows.  Any other suggestions?

I took a stab at this and made some progress.

My attached test PLAN (X17) is simpler example, but should apply to your condition.

I drew CAD helper lines in elevation to be able to get exact measurements for the heights, radius, etc.

I think the key is selecting the "double arch" type for the shallow arc shape of the arch.  Right or Left Arch for the side units and Full Arch for the middle unit.

Mulling the units together did not work perfectly, but you might have better luck.

Good luck!

  1. Create 5 side by side windows that are all the same height (height of the center unit).
  2. Group select the windows and block them.
  3. Give the Mulled unit an Arch (Broken Arch)
  4. Adjust as necessary.

That's some next level thinking. I've always done it as @JKEdmo explained it.  Thanks.

Yes, you need to "block" them, which means you make a mulled unit out of all 5 of them, before you can add the arch.  You are adding the arch to the mulled unit and the program will auto adjust the individual windows for you.  It should work even if you block all of the lower and upper windows together first before you block the 5 horizontal units together.  In other words, nested mulled units.  It's the final unit that gets the arch.  If you still can't get it to work, then you should probably post your plan for someone to take a look at.

when I try to arch the options are greyed out.

Make sure that when you line up your windows they are properly spaced.

When you select them to block them together, make sure only the windows are selected and nothing else, then you will have the Arch tab available.
