X15 Crashing

So I've been working in X15 today for the first time.  I upgraded an X14 plan, and X15 has inadvertently shut down on me 5 times in the last 3 hours.

Is X15 unstable?  Anyone else experiencing instability on Mac Ventura 13.6?  Or am I the lucky one.

X15 is very stable for me but I'm still on Monterey. Do you have the latest X15 build? I think I remember that early versions were somewhat unstable.

I do have the latest version.  Must be Ventura or something else.  I've bumped back down to X14 since I hadn't done that much this morning that I could not redo.

I'll have to play later when I can to try and isolate the issue on this or one of my other machines.= and contact support I guess.

Yeah, it's saturday so support won't be available until monday.  I would highly recommend checking out these support articles while you are waiting.  Maybe you will get lucky and you will be able to solve the problems all on your own.

 

As far as the sys reqs are concerned, ventura looks like it is still supported:

I am on Ventura but 13.2.1 and haven't had any issues with crashing other than a corrupt plan from a client that crashed it.

I'm sure it's not the same, but I kept having crash problems on my 128GB iMac and it was directly related to that RAM. Scaled back to 64 and no problems since. In my case, the RAM was 4 mismatched 32's from OWC. Bought 2 new 32's and bingo. If all else fails, might be worth checking into. Even if just reseating the RAM.

That is however interesting,  I do happen to have 128GB of RAM, but it's unified memory on the M1 Ultra chip.  Maybe X15 doesn't like that amount of memory in that configuration?  I'll just have to get some time to test it on my M2 with 64GB and see what happens.

I'm not a Mac user but have you done a hardware test on your RAM?  I believe there is a built in test on some Macs at least during boot.

 

Your type of issue is often driver or other software related but I've just replaced some RAM on one of my home servers (not EEC as desktop hardware) as it was starting to have infrequent file corruption issues on very large file transfers. It turned out to be just over 20 bits (not bytes) out of the 128GB was faulty and further testing found just one of the four sticks was the cause.  It was only when the OS disk caching used so much memory to cache the error appeared.

 

It's rare to have faulty memory but its worth ruling it out at least as it does happen.

That's good advice!  I did get it checked and everything passed, so the techs were baffled, but they figured the motherboard was dying. I found the advice to downgrade to 64 GB from a user on a Mac forum who had done extensive testing and arrived at that conclusion.
