24" Wide Doors?

I tend to only use 24" wide doors I closets & some tight toilet rooms.

They seem too small but I'm 240# & 6'.

Do you use them for rooms other than closets.

The short answer would be No.

 

However there are plenty of other things to consider.  Such as there are still plenty of people that are taller and wider than you are.

Also the classification of the building and the use of the room need to be considered as well as anything that will ever go though that door for any purpose.

Never smaller than 28" unless a closet or pantry.

Unless they are in a Pair   or there is no other possibility, I prefer to to stay 30" or bigger if I can.

 

Personally if there is room I put in 34" but some ManuF. class them as special order for some reason, while a 32" or 36" is not.

I will use a 24" door for a walk-in attic access door.

I try to use min. 32" for interior doors when possible. 24" only when necessary, and only for closets or pantry.
