need help with 13X and graphics card

Hello

I've read all the suggestions and I believe my card is well within the minimum requirements.   But I'm still getting the card not meeting the requirements and no 3d modelling.

i7 4790-k

32 GB ram

SSD drive

Nvidia Quadro K5000 4 GB  latest driver 472.12 installed.

When I start CA X13  I get the your graphic card doesn't meet the requirements.  I checked both the directx  which is version 12 and the shader which is 6.5   So not sure why I would get this error.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I'm using an 2yr old GeForce GTZ 1080 (8mb) card with minimal issues (screen redraw when sending elevations to layout is slow and looks glichy while sending) and cannot utilize the New Zooty Real Time Ray Trace Feature without purchasing an expensive new card.

Also, I'm using a Ryzen processor (AMD Ryzen 7 2700 Eight-Core Processor 3.4ghz) which for some reason is quite a bit slower than my co-workers Intel I-7 processor, Nvidia Card Combo. I'm currently having a helluva time with slow screen redraws (like watching grass grow) and dodgie mouse snap behavior on a project that I started in 2015 and noticed the slow down when I first saved it as an x11, then x12 and now x13. I can't remember what I used to initially draw it. I've turned off textures for section and elevation views to make it less snap dodgie when in section and elevation views.

Sorry, a bit off topic. Just wanted to let the OP know that on newly created x13 jobs, my 3d works fine except for the real time RayTrace feature.

I think the problem is that your card does not support the "Extended formats TypedUAVLoad".

This is from the tech article about finding your shader model:

Note: Some older graphics cards, such as the NVIDIA 700 series, may support shader model 6, but may be lacking a critical feature called "Extended formats TypedUAVLoad". If a graphics card does not support this feature, the word "No" will be mentioned beside this feature in the image above, and the card will not function with newer versions of Chief Architect software.

I believe the quadro card you are using is similar to the 700 series cards and was first released in 2012.  You could try seeing if you can install newer drivers but I think based on the age of your card that it is unlikely that you will be able to use X13 with this card.

Yes I think a 900 Series is the minimum , so anything in the 900, 1000, 2000, or 3000 Series should work.

Anything in the 600 and most 700 Series ( Kepler based) is no longer supported by Nvidia as of the latest Driver

release about 10 days ago. ie Driver 496.13

just FYI , that issue is not just you and happens even on my 3080 system, and 2070 Laptop ( see Sig), and I am aware of several others, with the same Issue, where the screen goes black/flashes for a sec. during the Send to Layout process.

Not sure if it is Astral or the current Nvidia Drivers but has been pretty consistent in X13 so far. ( no crashes though from this, still see the odd crash in Older plans while turning a 3D camera though. )

And this just adds to my frustration.

Unfortunately it appears Dermot is right about the   critical feature called "Extended formats TypedUAVLoad"   not being supported on the K5000,

and if ( No Forum Sig. - see mine )    it is a laptop?  it mostly likely is not upgradeable , be sure to check though.

My preferences look just like inArtifex for a GT 640 4 GB.  Everything is right and up to date except for "Extended formats TypedUAVLoad" is NO.

How on earth does someone know when their shopping for a cheaper/older card if it has this feature?

See my post from Oct 22nd ...... most Cards starting with Maxwell Architecture ie the 900 series and above Support it.....

You may be able to have the Seller run the DirectXCaps Viewer test and show the results 1st.

Here is DXCapsViewer if you need it ......dxcapsviewer_2021.zip

Hello Kbird1,

Thanks for your reply.  I did read your post and ran DXCaps.  But are you sure about 900 and above.  How do you know this?

*** Note that none of these Old Cards will give you FULL PBR-RT Views in CA Premier X13 , that requires RTX hardware which they do not have, But you will get X12 Type 3D Views though  ( A RTX 2000 or 3000 Series Nvidia card is required for full support)

I did a google search on Extended formats TypedUAVLoad

https://microsoft.github.io/DirectX-Specs/d3d/UAVTypedLoad.html

* do your own research and confirm before putting down any cash

It is part of the DirectX 11.3 architecture, (2014-2015)  it appears which was supported fully by Maxwell 2 Chips like the 900 series eg gtx 970/980 though the 9 Series is DirectX 12 compatible too ( and thus all versions before it )

* Chief recommends a card Capable of DirectX 12.3 though.

If I had too ...... some have found the AMD 560x works in situations like this....

let me see if I can find that thread.... here is that Info

Some people have replaced their 710/720 GT cards with this AMD Card fairly cheaply.

Kbird,

You've got a lot of energy and I appreciate the effort.  There is a lot to consume there.  I think your probably right.  Maybe Dermot can provide some clarity.  He is the top dog software engineer.

I can now confirm a 970* will run X13, I had to take my 1070Ti out of my old system today, so stuck my old 970 in temporarily to test it,

no RTRT in PBR of course but 3D looks fine to me.

"How on earth does someone know when their shopping for a cheaper/older card if it has this feature?"

Personally, I would not consider buying a card that is more than 3 years old.  Video card technology has been evolving too rapidly to make an older card a very good choice.  Also, if you are not interested in the new real-time raytracing feature, you do not need to buy a video card that supports it.  They are rather expensive and still pretty hard to get at the moment.

Here is a blog article with some good info about buying a new computer and/or video card that should give good results with Chief:

Should "Extended formats TypedUAVLoad" be added to System Requirements for CA or would that be redundant?

That info should probably be added to the Blog post, the KB article on Shader 6 and System requirements as there seem to be quite a few posting about this Issue.

Unfortunately not all have the budget Dermot, for even a 3060, let alone a 3080 at today's crazy pricing , and for most it isn't a matter of using the new RTRT in PBR , it a matter of even being able to use X13 at all since they can't generate ANY 3D views as you noted several days ago....... so a 900 Series card off the 2nd hand market or out of a Family members' Closet will at least mean their SSA has not been wasted this year.

So I ordered a GT 1030 2 GB.  Not much of an upgrade so I hope it works.  Newer boards are out of my price range and seem to be mostly out of stock.  I don't use Chief often enough to justify a new system.
