They are in a Bonus Catalog.

Yup. Exterior Roof Attachments, in the skylights folder

Here you go...

Solar Tube Lens.calibz

You could also just resize a recessed light and adjust the lighting properties. And you could also change the CAD block for the symbol

If you are wanting to show the entire solar tube, you would need to use 3 parts:

  • round roof mounted skylight
  • cylinder for tube
  • ceiling lens

Chief doesn't put these things together as a unit.  It would be nice if they did but I don't think that's going to happen any time soon.

Typically I just show the 1st and 3rd items and provide notes on the roof and floor plans.  Sometimes I might include a detail but usually it's not needed.

Where did y'all find the cylinder?

If you really want to model the cylinder you can use

a 3D Solid Cylinder. Create a second cylinder slightly

smaller than the original and use Solid Subtraction to

remove the second cylinder from the first to leave a

tube. If you need to angle the top of the tube to match

the roof pitch you can also use Solid Subtraction to

cut an angle on one end of the tube.

Was curious to see how hard it would be to model

a flexible version of the solar tube since in the real

world you almost never get a straight shot from your

roof to the spot on the ceiling where you want the

tube to terminate.

Used a spline in the shape of the tube and converted

it to a Molding Polyline. Applied a round tubular molding

profile to the polyline and attached the dome and lens

from Chief's Exterior Roof Attachments Bonus Catalog

and voila, you have a flexible Solar Tube.

Now if you can get the spline in the correct orientation

in the attic to make the proper connections on each

end, well, that's a horse of a different color.

PS. Any similarity to a bent carrot is purely coincidental. B)
