Dwg Import Issue

The attached DWG file is imported as a single line ?

it is suppose to be a floor plan of a suite of rooms I am renting for my Foundation's museum

I used the import wizard and accepted the default settings

is this a "bad" file or am I doing something wrong

the file is only 114 KB so I suspect it is a "bad" file ?

my experience with importing DWG's is minimal

I used to have a viewer on my prior PC

but don't remember the name

what is a decent free viewer to use ?

Todd:

thanks for the reference

I now have Draftsight

once I saw that the file was good

I played with Chief's import settings until it came into Chief properly

I was not able to get the CAD to Walls tool to work

so I had my partner/friend trace over it

I find the CTW tool to be worthless

since I already have Draftsight installed

should I swtich to Solidworks Edrawings ?

I only plan to use it to verify that a CAD file "works"

before importing into Chief

I probably won't be doing that too often either

No Lew. Draftsight is enough for you. On a dwg such as this that was so screwed up, and without you having any knowledge with autocad type stuff, it would be more a waste of your time trying to deal with it rather than letting someone here help you. That is unless you want to learn a new program?
