Separate Schedules For Each Unit Of A Multi Apartment Bldg.

Hi everyone. I am working on a multi unit apartment building that requires information for each unit. I am having difficulty breakdown separate door, finish and cabinet schedules for each apartment. Each apartment unit is unique because each one is different in size, kitchen design and number of bedrooms. I am not sure if this is possible to do it automatically.

 

Can someone tell me if this is possible. If so can you please let me know if I have to do something to describe each unit before I lose my mind. It would be greatly appreciated.

Draw each apartment unit as a separate plan file and copy paste in a new plan for the building plan as a whole.

If each apartment is in a separate Plan File then the Schedules can be done in each Plan and sent to one common Layout File.  Each appartment Plan can then be pasted into one overall Plan and that can also be sent to the common Layout File.  That's what Perry is talking about.

I knew what Perry meant but can all those apts be pasted into the

main building using edit area - maybe with hold position

If each component (door, window, etc) was given a unique prefix in it's label that keyed it to an apartment then they would be separated in the schedule by apartment. You could not generate individual schedules, but you could organize the data in one schedule.

The thing is, like so many of the features in Chief, with a little creativity a myriad of useful tools can be had such as this one by adapting tools that already exist.    

 

 

Yep, but just like we can choose which rooms are counted in the living area

it would be nice to be able  to control which rooms or floors are placed on a schedule or material list

We can already control what floors are included in a schedule.

Not that this has anything to do with Tony's problem, but I would love to be able to make a schedule for just one room.  If I am going to do a cabinet schedule, I want separate ones for the kitchens and baths instead of just organizing them in one schedule.

room by room would be nice also

same as we do for "living area"

Hi Everyone,

 

After reviewing all the responses to my question, I have altered my design to what Kevin Moquin suggested by placing a prefix on the tag of the component like the cabinets for creating the cabinet schedule. It works for now on this project. But like most members suggested, it should be separate schedules for each room that is what I was really looking for.

 

I am sending a suggestion directly to Chief Architect for their programmers to look into situations like this for any future updates (if this is possible). If the program is created to doing both residential and light commercial projects, it would be best to separate each unit instead of combining all as a whole in a schedule.
