Export Annosets or just layer sets, then import into template and save as template. I always keep the most recent two or three around.

can I change direction of wood grain raytrace image
MarkMc replied to chiefcraft's topic in General Q & A
Post the plan. It's quite doable. Ray trace of custom door symbol and a couple of pline solids. -
Once you have the back matching the front you can then change it to "custom front" and change the front to blanks. You will then be configuring the back directly and won't have any extra doors or drawers floating around. Note that the side can be set to "0" if need be.
-
Start with single drawrr cabinet, front custom, select drawer, split vertical. Cabinet you show is traditional overlay, full overlay won't look right. But if you need full add a blank area to each side of the center separation can be tricky.

I make shelves from wall cabinets, partitions from tall, base, and wall respectively. All with blank face no separations, in library. Have them per brand for labeling.

Welcom to the world of semi-custom cabinets Been using macro for one brand (the most challenging of the ones I carry) for a while now with system I described. Still needs a few tweaks but generated orders for hald dozen jobs as is. Quite doable, just has to be brand specific and used in combination with library.
-
I only keep commonly used cabinets in the library, ones I don't want to spend time adjusting or that have too many options (brand w/4 pie cut lazy susans, 5 PO trash...) Not sure that a room attribute solves much; it's pretty common to mix kitchen cabinets in offices/baths, or to use tall vanity cabinets in the kitchen to avoid a mod charge. IF I were to try to base the label macro on mfg (and line/construction) I'd be looking to get the information from the door style (and construction) Don't know if that attribute is available that way (to use in the cabinet label)? It would keep that field in the OIP free for other things (but I'm not going for one macro for every brand so MFg doesn't matter to me.) Let me know what you think after you take a look.

I don't know what they based it on. Most likely have match some brands of stock cabinet, fewer semi custom. I sent you a link to a zip with several catalogues, have a few more available if you want. Places that start to vary : 4 drawer, butt doors, sink bases, appliance cabinets, trash pull outs, bases with roll outs, pantries, any accessories, more than 2 doors, stacked walls, end panels, wainscot, guess it's a long list. I'm approaching to use a macro attributes are available AND cabinets that don't take long to reconfigure in the DBX. If configuring the cabinet is time consuming I save in library already labeled, with appropriate prefix, size macro(s) suffix if need, "mod" in code field if likely and comment (both are easier to delete than add). Those are ALL on a second layer which allows me to select others by layer so I can change label macro if client changes brand. In that case the library cabinets have to be replaced with others. Not as bad as it sounds and certainly no worse than changing brands in 2020 which is just voodoo. In most cases I start design with the default cabinet and replace later. I've also taken to making almost all the library cabinets 15" wide and resizing after replacement to fit the space. Have taken to pasting shortcuts into a folder for the project and setting that to be first in the user library. (wish we could filter on sub folders in the user library; or turn one into a toolbar all at once) Since we've been making each brands library using a template I started experimenting with leaving them in the template, deleting those that aren't likely to be used and dragging the rest off to the side for use later as replacement. Not sure which is easier yet, likely a combination.

I thought it was a new feature, or some decision made based on input from folks who might not agree with how I see things I trust you guys , have sent in no shortage of bug reports (and pilot errors).

Want to torture me eh? the sound is bad-will try to improve if I ever get to it.

Just double checked this-in X8- changed a few locate objects in the dimensions default-no change to annoset listed. Then changed layer for text-no change in annoset listed. Do the same in X9 and it becomes "using active defaults"-not even clear how it decides what that means since it doesn't use the default that was active before the change? or the edited version. In any case it is not the same behavior as in x8

That I don't think is a video card issue? I get the same with a 980m which at the time I started using X9 was the most powerful mobile card available. It is annoying, I've almost gotten in the habit of immediately selecting the annoset I was in-went so far as to add a second instance of the annoset drop down to the bottom of my screen. The other issue I don't get so have no idea.

As Barbara noted resize OR better move the counter away prior to placing the sink. You want to get the warning message that the sink was designed to insert into a cabinet -despite sink symbol options listing "inserts into a countertop" -it doesn't, If warning doesn't pop up the sink is connected to the cabinet.

Change existing cabinet drawer to a false drawer and draw a polyline in the section view for your drawer box. Attached is a drawer box symbol if you really want 3D (dunno why) Really think about getting premier. I ended up with Interiors for a while and it ticked me off (had already spent the money elsewhere) Thankfully I had TurboCad for stuff like this but a big PIA. Finally if you are doing this to permit phone charging? If so take a look at these-made to go into a drawer and solves it all. https://www.hafele.com/us/en/product/24-slim-docking-drawer-for-24-cabinet-depth-with-2-x-outlets-and-2-x-usb-ports/000001090002516600030023/#SearchParameter=&@QueryTerm=drawer+outlet&FF.followSearch=9786&PageNumber=1&OriginalPageSize=12&Position=3&OrigPos=3&PDP=true Drawer box.calibz

Not sure about home designer-in Chief: draw half wall, in plan break wall, in select one section of wall, open DBX and change railing height.

I could swear I posted to this earlier?? must have hit the wrong button. Someone else had also? losing it In real life -too many to sort through, what brands are available to you? IN Chief-core library has some-search for "cross" (in X9)
-
IF using X9 then Cabinet defaults, general tab PLUS have the door drawer layer on. IF not in X9 then no. Good idea to put version and computer information in your signature.

Don't need to draw a polyline first. I use "build, trim, molding line" from the menu-actually I have it set with a shortcut key. Draw line (a little longer than needed to begin with so it's easier to grab) set height (which will be listed from the subfloor so add for that) then add molding (s) bring the line back to the corner you want it to meet. To add to it just grab the DIAMOND node at the end to start a new segment. I use back clipped sections because it is easier to see the in out of the moldings in the stack, also use that to make a cad detail to dimension when done and send to layout.
-
What are you using that for? I ask because it looks as if you would be better off using a molding line instead of a 3D polyline or a molding polyline. IF your moldings are all relative to a single horizontal plane DON'T use a 3D line. Does this do what you need? A standard molding line will show the width of your total profile in plan. To adjust the heights of stacked molding take a back clipped section through the molding. The moldings don't update live while the DBX is open but a lot easier than hit or miss.

This was some time ago-pre using Chief. Mud Room/Pantry-service for 19 rescued Jack Russells. We looked at toe kick feeders-dropped the idea partly because the dogs sizes (and health-blind, cancer, lame, short, tall...sweet and mean varied too much. Ended up with little stools that held bowls. Used a Rev-A-Shelf pegboard pullout for leashes, forget what we put int the one on the other side. Food went into plastic bins in drawers-note labels on counter are dog names that coincide with drawer for each ones food and medication needs. Was a doggie bath and shower around the corner from the cages. The more modest mud room accommodations for humans aren't shown across aisle to the right of the cages.

The kitchen guy would do it with cabinets far one is cabinet only-near has psolids at corners. Still need a bottom and a vane.

Here's a test-individual files printed from CA plan file (not layout) using the CA printer. Transparent circle and variations (think I can get a gallery to show?) Merged with Bluebeam PDF Revu Think I had it at 600 dpi. Appears pretty good to me. Printing to BB with transparency has the issues noted-from what I can tell not adequate control over anti-aliasing or image type (defaults to jpeg) I have no idea why merging is better. Hope it still looks good once uploaded. ca 3.pdf

Place millwork into cabinet schedule with correct dims
MarkMc replied to MarkMc's topic in Tips & Techniques
Not at computer so from memory (feeble) Make cabinet -3/4" deep, full overlay, separations "0", reveal "0", toe "0" depth and height. Cabinet material as opening no material. Adjust cabinet to size you want door. When placing bury the cabinet box (3/4") into whatever the door is applied to (use point to point or transform replicate) Will read correct size in schedule, look right in 3D, and change with the cabinet default door. If the extra 3/4" bothers you in plan view, place on a separate layer and change base cabinet lines to white, don't change door layer line. Turn off that layer when pulling dimensions to avoid extra snaps. -
Might try run as administrator. Shouldn't need to but odd it's persting in memory. Ran into that on another program once. Something to try til Monday anyway. Machine has enough juice. Also shouldn't matter but can turn shadows off in defaults. I made it a keyboard shortcut back in 8 as well.
