Like other said, it's where I do most development. I also use them for some dimensioning. I have some default sets for cabinets, doors, windows that trigger a layerset and a specific dimension default. i.e wall cabinets only show so I can drag manual dimension (in one sweep) that gets placed a fixed distance out, another for base cabinets, another for centers, have one for opening centers. Those dimensions all go onto layers that show up in appropriate plan views, just faster to pull them that way. I also use the primary working layer set for placement of CAD guide lines and occasionally for making notes during a phone call things that I don't want to show up elsewhere or have to clean up. Lastly I share most files with others, many who have trouble with all of this-layers, views, sets.... I teach them to leave the plan views and associated layersets that ARE sent to layout alone. Instead have them use the working PV with the working layerset. Cuts down on getting revisions back that need a lot of fixing.

Set deck room to match height of main floor-or the other way around whatever you want-right now deck room is higher. Change to Dutch Gable per DBX here, reduce overhang some- not really a shed roof which would be near impossible here.

Dug out one I had from a while ago then made a style pallet. Attached is library with drawer box and style pallet to paint cabinet with, and a plan (X12) This won't show the pipe chase in plan, for that you have to use Michaels method. But you can include Comment or other OIP fields in it which I find more useful for ordering. Which method to use depends on preference, how cabinets are being done, and by whom.

16 GB min, I've got 32 and never seen it all used, get an RTX video card, 17"has more heat dissipation and gains 1"of screen width but a little less portable for job site. Almost all have both good and bad models, some better though. That said I'm on my second Sager (Clevo-1 from Sager, 1 from Xoticpc) and likely getting an Evoc (Clevo) from Hidevolution.com shortly. I like the i/o ports and the ability to specify specifics for more than most. Typically I check the forums at notebookreview.com about specific models wading through the gobbledygook. You can call places like Hid and Xotic etc to speak with a human, (just got off the phone with Shane at HID very helpful) A forum search here will find lots of answers too.

Mostly what Michael said-or make a symbol to be part of the cabinet. You can show a cabinet that would have retractable doors closed where you can open the doors and show them ready to retract. Requires custom door symbols specific to the size you need to do what is shown. This only shows the closed and open ready to retract. To show fully retracted you need to do what Michael said and if you want to show both use layers.

Eric-Did you use the default metric plan or the imperial? I get what you have from the imperial but from the metric I get this- Now that template is from Beta so maybe? Add a molding For the boxes if it is really important you can mess with it several ways per attached-none are finished and I used some parts I already had so they are not exact-Cleanest result is a lot of extra work-on the far right. Other two look fine inside the cabinet but not from the side.

I can't offer more than Dermot said. I only ever use custom counter tops and always send for a quote. Chief deducts the footage of the sink cutout, does not account for undermount charges or for any extra charges caused by corner configuration or seam placement. I would not expect them to. I suppose you could solve some of those with a macro (and throwing extra $$ to CYA) Laminate counters are even worse with varied charges. Then you still only get a countertop drawing if you use custom counters-regular counters don't show up unless the cabinets are included. So I use custom tops which as Dermot points out are a breeze nowadays.

Been using Bluebeam PDF Revu standard for 10 years. Upgraded twice may again. The included Studio cloud is handy. Closest alternative is PDF Exchange, cheaper but missing some tools.

I've used 15's and currently a 17, was using a 13 in for field measures and travel. I might likely go to a 15 next since I use a 27 and a 24 attached at the office and would save about 1/2 lb. While I already have an Everki backpack to fit 17 the bag I use for the 13 fits a 15 and it also a lot lighter. Since I want external monitors I look at ports (the Evoc machines). Would be swell if one of the 13" two in ones converted to a 17

If PBR is something you use X13 is likely to make use of RTX video cards.

As I said- I can't find ANY properties in the layout that to the layout file name that can be accessed. From what I can see no matter how you slice it your are sending something from plan to get the information. Happy to be shown otherwise, I just can't find it.

I got %referenced_filename[0..6]% to work so long as it referenced a layout box from the plan. Can't get it to work otherwise, can't find anything in the layout that has any file properties. But a text box with arrow is an improvement as is [0...6] thanks

Tried all that without success, likely pilot error but once I get something to work I stop running down the rabbit hole.

Zip file with layout and plan that does what you want. Downside is you text size is controlled by layout box text style. It's a small section of plan sent to layout page "0". Requires both macros in the layout (included) It reads from the filename from the plan file sent not from the layout (used Michael's suggestion about referenced_filename-thanks) Found the truncate code on Stack Overflow. (elipse may be unnecessary? ...) Personally I'd be looking at using the shorter filename and finding a way to add the other information in the OS. File names that long get to be annoying when a lot of tabs are open. I did this one quickly in Directory Opus. Have not checked to see if there is a way to automate the comment there but I would think it possible. Maybe in windows too but that I'm not looking into since I already use Dopus to set up folder per job. Truncate.zip

Change deck floor sturcture so planking is defined as opening no material. Add a custom counter top, place hole in counter, change counter materials to planking, alter height and thickness, manually change framing around hole.

Welcome aboard. First your post really belongs in Q & A. Ruby in Chief can't access mouse or keyboard. It is primarily for accessing information from objects and outputting as text. Still very useful. Best place to start is in the help and the tutorial on the Ruby console built into Chief. A forum search couldn't hurt.

Only reason I used a cabinet was OP said he wanted a cabinet centered between two openings. In which case no need to move out of the way, stretch between casings open DBX and resize-will be centered when done. Other objects might do differently depends.

What Dermot said but if you want the clips as deep as you show you'll have to cheat the depth. For a standard depth wall cabinet the software limits with width/depth of the clip 4-1/2 for 12" deep and 4 5/8 for 13". I rarely see clips over 6" but it is possible to order those.

In a Chief floor plan make the profile. I'd start with a polyline box and add breaks and adjust (good practice) , or with polylines and adjust in which case when done make sure it's closed. Add profile to library, rename it. With profile selected in library go to build menu, draw MOLDING LINE, say 15" long. Should have your new profile, check to be sure. Select it, convert to symbol, cabinet door, chech "advanced options and name it. In theDBX that pops up check xyz axis, you may have to rotate it. Set a stretch zone so the height resizes between the bottom and a line below the handle detail. Read up on ciustom symbols/ stretch planes/zones in help or reference manual (my preference) You could draw the profile in ACAD but itbetter to learn how to do it in Chief

Here is an end view of a drawer from the catalog Greg mentioned-only available in X12 but you can get the idea. This works. You can also search back on the forum. I posted some C channel cabinets where the handles were metal but set in like that, and parts some time ago, was at least X11 might have been X10. Could be in the Symbols section-don't remember so you have to go looking.

Make a cabinet match the appliance specs. If you need the panels for a schedule to order from make each panel and block them all
