  1. It's not you, it's the symbol. Place symbol loose in plan, Open symbol, change the Y origin, add to library, replace the one in the cabinet. FWIW- I almost never place fridges or dishwashers into cabinet. I always either place the appliance in plan and move to the cabinetry OR in some cases (dishwashers) I hack the appliance symbol down to just the door, convert that to a cabinet door symbol which I use on a cabinet. I do that on dishwashers so I can get a counter. Keeping the appliance separate makes labels, dimensions, and schedules easier IMO and allows better adjustment of the appliance which is often needed for accuracy
  2. Just saw this today, then after I did it saw you are on X11-I did this in 12 but principal remains. Simplest way to do this is to use a custom cabinet door- place door in plan change height to what you want final height of door to be convert to symbol, cabinet door, advanced options go to sizing panel and set the Height stretch plane somewhere beyond the height of the door Don't forget to change material to "Use Default" Place this door on cabinet, alter cabinet so you have a left and right door with the top section as opening at whatever height you want. Change shelves in each door section to manual, set as rollout and change symbols used as desired.
  3. I use a little program called Legal Billing from chaossoftware. It interfaces with their PIM Intellect, which includes email, or with Time & Chaos which doesn't include email but also available as a free version which works. It has a staff field among others. The programs are inexpensive and lifetime license and have trial versions. I've been using Intellect for over a decade legal billing for a few years. I also sync both between machines and Intellect to my phone. Originally had a Blackberry so had to use Chaoshost to sync, still do since it's easy and familiar but there are other sync options) The only down sides are you have to start/stop/pause the timer manually (I start it by habit right a way, keep on second screen and set to "always on top") and since it is originally designed for lawyers the default field that I use for Project is listed as Matter. Easily changed in the ini file (highlights in the screen shot) The advantages are you can easily track time across multiple files for a project, can adjust the time listing if you forgot to pause or turn on, exports to multiple formats, can control which of the columns shown are exported and export based on date. I have a spreadsheet template for invoices that matches the fields I export which makes invoicing a breeze. It also helps to remember to make entries for payments.
  4. Or back clipped section, deyail from view. I have a layerset for it.
  5. Works the same in black and white
  6. I understand now; never been an issue for me and I find it useful to have the same elevations for the client as I am sending to the mfg, to each their own. Until you get what you want this works. If I wanted what you are after I'd be doing this before playing with materials. Take elevation with cabinet module lines ON, take a detail from view, when that opens select only the module lines, I blocked them but can be done otherwise, copy, go back to the elevation and turn module lines off, paste and hold position. At least until you get what you want quickly. Only downside is the lines are not live if you make changes. Blocking them gives a visual indicator if something changed. Then can either redo the detail and block OR if only one or two changes unblock and point to point move the desired lines.
  7. Molding Symbol? Easier to reuse or alter run and height. Would need a different symbol if offset changes. Easy to change run too. CMU offset.calibz
  8. Then why not simply turn them off in that view? you can either do that on the fly with the ALDO of have a dedicated layerset. I reallly don't understand. What type of view are you using, vector, standard, watercolor w/lines, other? Post a screen shot. Follows Module lines ON, then OFF, then watercolor w/lines module lines off. I used an old plan of beaded inset just in case there was a migration or other issue, didn't bother with toe kick as I rarely do. BTW you can usually get rid of the toe on the ends by making the side unfinished. I always specify finishes in the OIP rather than rely on the automatic ones so not an issue for me in schedules.
  9. Do you have Cabinet Module lines turned on? They show fine for me without messing with textures. These ALL have the same material, and use the OOB K&B template I've been showing inset cabinets correctly in elevation for quite a few years now without messing with materials or jumping through hoops (toe kick is a bit of a PIA). Perhaps post a screen shot and a quick plan with a saved camera? As Alaskan Son said last year- feel like I'm missing something?
  10. Without a plan or at least a dbx my guess is the cabinet doors are overlapping. Maybe door symbol not set to size properly,,? Else more info needed
  11. Graham I think this is a new person not the OP. Only for desktops-laptop 3000's won't show for a while, likely Q1 of 2021 (or I would have not gotten a new laptop now and curious just how much we will benefit in CA?) Really ought to start your own thread, particularly since it's a laptop and not an AIO as the original poster asked. Aside from KitchenAdobe's useful comments (though he and I don't exactly agree on mult-threading) I'd do two things. 1-check owners in forums about heat-maybe that vapor chamber is magic but putting that much juice in a 1" chassis is asking a lot. I'd at the very least do .. #2-spending that kind of money go to a BTO (build to order) dealer where you can get real world advice about the machines thermals, get pasting and pads added, select the actual drive brand instead of whatever they decide to stick in there, lok into minimize backlight bleed..... Might look into other brands while there.
  12. None with the machine, no. I'd thought I remembered seeing AIOs during recent shopping so checked. I bought the Sager in my signature from XoticPC. Ended up getting my new laptop from anothe BTO dealer and found myself wishing I'd stuck with Xotic, comminication during build was better with them. BT is suggesting 8GB Ram drive. That X12 doesnt maximize the video card is also true BUT video memory of 6 or greater does make a differance. I still say to get an RTX card- I did in new machine
  13. Custom gaming all in one with some suitable options
  14. How about converting pdf to png? Lots of programs can do that, some free.
  15. Get an RTX card no matter what. I just got a new (possibly interim) machine with RTX 2070 Super in anticipation of next release. If the never use physically based render it might matter less.
  16. IF you did not change the default door/drawer AND didn't specify a different style in the face items then changing the default door drawer will automatically change them all-no need to change one at a time. IF you some cabinets are not using the default then the suggestions given so far all work well, take your pick. One other choice if some cabinets either by room or design have face items specified as a different style then I find the most efficient way to deal with that is to open a 3D perspective, go the library and select the new door/drawer style and drag it onto each cabinet. This works when style pallets don't though they are fabulous for changing the entire face of cabinets-make em and collect them. Last thing to note-unless you are doing ALL drawers for a project it's not the best idea to make a drawer base the default since then every new cabinet you add will be a drawer base-OTOH face configuration is not a dynamic default so it won't change existing cabinets.
  17. I had the X3 and worked just fine doing mostly interiors. I had been and still am input directly into CA via bluetooth without issue. (ran into a suggestion from Al Frey to take the numbers and enter manually from the device memory-will be trying that next time) I started to get more full houses where I needed to get exterior pitch and other dims. Sold the X3 and got the 7500i which Al suggested. It has a point-finder camera to see the dot long distance. The X4 also has a camera not sure the difference between it and the 7500i. I did have to get the firmware updated at the local Leica store since my phone wouldn't do it. The only downside is learning what each function does and how they work.Basic straight measures are a breeze though I bring a tape for short ones and just in case :) I keep a print out of the full manual which has more than the little quick start guide that travels with the device. I practice a bit the day before a measure, getting the hang of it. One of these days I may spring for their tripod and the simplest attachment, currently hacked onto a camera tripod I have. Look over the functions available, double check for the ones that require an adapter (more $$) and get the most you can justify out of the gate. BTW saw the 7500i on sale somewhere recently as an option. Shop around prices vary.
  18. Scott Harris of Chief and Al Frey (sort of Chief did a webinar recently on site measures. Worth a look. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/10212/as-built-measurements-best-practices.html?playlist=171 I use the same laser as Al (per his advice some time ago, newer models may be better?) but had been sending measurements directly into Chief on a 2 in 1. Likely to try his method next time though since he says it's faster and he does more of these than I do.
  19. Do what Eric says then select the one you flipped, convert to symbol, fixtures interior, hangs on a wall. Now you have it in your library to use as part of the window
  20. Headboard on the left is The head board you used with material made from your posted image, 2nd is the same headboard with a copy of the material with global symbol mapping selected, 3rd is the same headboard with another copy of the material scale of the altered per attached, and the last one on the right is a second headboard from the same catalog (Gismondine Upholstered Panel Headboard 2) with the original material applied.
  21. I had read them; did not see anything about CA. If building a desktop as originally planned I would do exactly what I suggest. Things changed so getting a new laptop. The only suggestion I managed to get was definitely get an RTX card. Mobile 3000 aren't likely until Q1 or 2 of 2021 so not waiting on the lappie.
  22. From what I've read it would be worth the wait...at least to find out after launch.
  23. Are you trying to make a blind corner cabinet? Little more info, screen shot, what have you tried?
  24. Not sure if this helps or not. I did a hospital cafeteria with a lot of custom symbols that was getting unmanageable. I put all the furniture and symbols into a separate plan. Then just referenced it both in plans and in 3D. In 3D the only option for reference is standard view but when used in a PBR it appears to take on some (maybe all) of those characteristics. At least the refelection in the tables is better than I see normally in Standard view. Put this one together on the fly (faster than looking around for the old ones) It made working a lot easier, less lag. Yes it does update live. NO you can't RayTrace-the referenced files won't show up.
