The camera view where the floors are missing, I would guess is a "Floor Camera" render. The "Floor Camera" is pre-programmed to exclude everything that is not ON the floor where the camera viewpoint is created. Therefore you probably have pre-programmed by accident or on purpose unknowingly the floors are "Provided by the foundation layer below" and in a "Floor Camera" view would not by default show floors that the foundation level provides. That is my supposition based on what you have shown. Use a "Full Camera" or set your "Room Specification Dialogs - Structure Tab - Floor Under This Room" instead of what you are doing that does not work. DJP

Where is the fireplace tool now in X11?
DavidJPotter replied to DavidJPotter's topic in General Q & A
Thank you, I am not sure what you are showing as the "Fireplace", exactly what I am speaking of is the "Fireplace" that existed under the "Build - Masonry Fireplace" tool for many versions, now just deleted from the "Build" menu in X11. Is that what you are showing? and if so, where did you find it in X11 please? DJP -
Where is the fireplace tool now in X11?
DavidJPotter replied to DavidJPotter's topic in General Q & A
Thank you, your post reminded me that i can add it from x10, plan to plan to Library Browser but I also think that their apparently eliminating that tool is rather weird after all these years and versions of having it in the "Build Menu". DJP -
The "Help Files" say that the fireplace tool has been removed from the "Build Menu" (not very helpful, thank you). Where is the thing now, please? Anyone figured this out yet? Please help an old man. DJP

I use a software program called "Handy Back Up" to back up my plans on a daily basis, I also use One Drive and Carbonite as a redundant backup service. I have One Drive with my Office Suite but it does not reliably back up daily like Carbonite, that is why I also use Handy Back Up in concert with One Drive. I like One Drive for also for sharing large files with clients. DJP

I am no genius, I just noticed that fact after years of trying to edit and straighten out the terrain, an empirical fact. DJP

The shared .dwg does not show any of the floor plan or elevations of this intended home. Is this all you have to offer as help? DJP -
Things we take for granted in Chief Architect.
DavidJPotter replied to Michael_Gia's topic in General Q & A
I looked at a trial version of Revit back when it first came out in 1999. I thought to myself "nice try but no thanks".(I had been using Chief for five years then. I never looked back. DJP -

I can help DJP -
I will delete the .zip file (which is a huge file) and upload individual library files that you can download, one at a time. That should make it easier on your internet connection. The "User File" library is over 2 GB but all the others are a lot smaller. They are still uploading as I write (6:02 PM CST) DJP
-
The "User Library" is uncompressed and the "Library Files.zip is. DJP

Here is a link to my One Drive account which will lead to over 7 Gb of X5 Library and User Library files:https://1drv.ms/u/s!As4dA60og8JIrJ0n9Y0gfKqBKGCRzA?e=ocxwFy It will be available for one week only, after that time, I will delete the files. DJP

All visual-virtual objects in Chief Architect are parsed on screen (shown or seen visually) by placing a series of triangles to represent/emulate actual objects (doors, windows, furniture, fixtures). The more detailed a symbol the more of these "triangles" are used to represent the actual object digitally. The number of 3D faces is also expressed as a "Count" (total number of 3D Faces or triangles that a symbol contains as a whole). DJP

Not enough data from you to be sure. I would guess that you created the terrain plane on another floor than the one in the posted image? (I do not see a Terrain Plane in the image you posted, so it is on another floor or its layer is turned off. Your best resource for things mysterious to you is your Reference Manual (found under the "Help" menu - All possible answers are to be found there) DJP

The only other thing it could be is that the elevation camera's "Back Clip" setting, excludes the appliances. It is probably just a "Display Options" dialog omission as has been suggested above. DJP

Most visual problems come from out of date software drivers for the video card you have or the video card you have does not meet "Minimum Requirements" stated on the Chief Architect Website, take a look. DJP

Been using X11 for Months and nothing like that has happened on my PC. Update your software drivers and if that does not help, contact Tech Support. DJP

Template files Since Version Four when I started (.plan and .layout) are stored on a PC in :C:/My Documents/ChiefArchitectPremier Data/Templates". They still automatically install there in the latest version, like they always have. DJP

I upgraded to Windows 10 as soon as it was first available. I run X1-X11 on Windows 10 on a single PC with total smoothness and reliability. If you have a dongle (software lock) you MUST first install upgraded drivers for your dongle for it to work. If no dongle then you just make sure to "deactivate" your license before moving it to your new computer. DJP

How to change furniture style and keep same attributes?
DavidJPotter replied to Max3732's topic in General Q & A
Modify your favorite symbols and once modified, place them into a custom library in one place. DJP
