  1. FWIW, it appears as though you have the wrong hangers shown for 2x10 joists. As for placing them efficiently...practice. There are ways to do it quickly. It shouldn't take more than 1 minute for a typical rectangular deck, and only slightly longer for a relatively complex i-joist floor with a stairwell. Another option...don't put them each model but instead develop stock details that can be included in a plan set. Or just use Simpsons details / illustrations.
  2. Nice Video Steve. One thing that could be simplified is you could eliminate that 90 degree rotation of the roof plane. If you just start the roof plan where you want it, like you mentioned in your video, Chief will pick up the existing roof elevation. Makes crickets / saddles really easy.
  3. Maybe the roof structure thickness.
  4. A roof truss looks to build between ceilings and roofs. It looks like the floor below is larger than the floor above so the roof truss heads down to that ceiling. If the plan layout is correct, then you have 2 options: manually edit the truss polyline (this will only fix that one truss) so the other will need to be deleted and the new one replicated to replace them manually edit the truss detail (this will affect all instances of that truss but it can occasionally be unreliable. The trusses may rebuild and you may lose those edits). Of course, it could caused by something else. Without your plan file, we're just guessing.
  5. You're welcome! Now the small door bothers me! GARAGE DOOR - SUNBURST 2.calibz
  6. That's how you do it; the question was how he/she does it!
  7. dshall door.calibz I made one for you. I started with Wayne Dalton / ERP Styleline II 7', and then quickly added the sunburst trim. I haven't set any stretch planes!
  8. Hey, that hurts my feelings! Don't forget that when you have camera setup exactly how you like it, you can copy it from one file to another. I agree that when a customer sees the electrical items in the model (along with other hardware items), they start to appreciate the coordination of all the various items. And of course it helps me with certain planning aspects as well. Speaking from my own experience, it's just a shame that more customers don't get to see what I see in the model.
  9. @Larry_SweeneyIf you can post a plan, I'd be happy to investigate.
  10. Are the default wall top and bottom checked for the wall with siding?
  11. Thanks Rene, I just found that right as your message popped up! Clearly I don't use it often!
  12. AFAIK it has always worked that way. I would detach the side line, then move it where I need it, then use it to trim / extend the top / bottom lines and then the polyline will reconnect. It works as expected if the 2 sides ( in your example) are parallel to each other.
  13. You are using the dimension tools incorrectly. You're creating points only at the 2 corners and the rest of the dimensions are grabbing the openings. You need to create proper dimension default settings for your foundation plans that will locate the center or the sides of the openings. If you rebuild the foundation the manually placed dimensions locating the door openings will lose that locate. So, If using manual dimensions, don't use auto-rebuild for foundations, or the build foundation tool. Auto - foundation pairs nicely with auto-dimensions. If and Once dimensioning needs to be cleaned up manually, then make foundation adjustments manually as well.
  14. I'm not sure I'd call the omission of something as rare as an ICF brick ledge a problem. I've designed and built an awful lot of ICF structures using every brand and size and form profile imaginable and it is much easier and simpler to model a brick ledge form using a molding polyline than it would be through any configuration of dialog boxes. There simply are too many types and they are rarely used. If you use them in your drafting projects regularly, then you should have library of items ready to help you model this condition. It should take about 2-3 minutes to have that modeled accurately (the first time), using one of a variety of methods. After that, it should (or at least could) be almost automatic.
  15. Did you check that each roof plane is also set to 24"
  16. @dskogg You might find what you need here. https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/collection/5e4d0e7a-0d2d-474c-881d-66b63c5838b2/blanco?sortBy=createTime DESC&searchTab=model&hl=en
  17. Yep, I knew those were there. There used to be a double square sink called Avado. A Blanco catalog would be nice. https://www.blanco.com/ca-en/
  18. Yes. If I remember correctly there used to be a few more from Elkay, but they're gone. Elkay Avado was my go-to sink.
  19. It stops grinding when it hits that limit. Without that checked, it grinds continually.
  20. Rob, make sure that Cap Live Samples is checked. You can uncheck it for final views, or whenever you want a higher quality image.
  21. Yes. It's like pedaling in Zone 7 for more than 5-10 seconds.
  22. Thanks @solver @Chrisb222. That confirms what I was unsure of. Usually I make my file copies in File Explorer. Lesson Learned!
