If you want specific help, please post the actual plan. Otherwise, you'll just receive other people's best guesses.
-
There could be several reasons, but I'd suggest you start by editing or checking the material defaults. Select: Edit>Default Settings>Materials
-
You could post a plan file here or send me a PM. I'll take a look at it and then get back to you.
-
You would need to post both the plan and the layout for help. Or you could send someone a link using a PM if you don't want to post it here. I'd take a look...

Time tracker starts from zero for a template plan but is cumulative for 'save as'.

What is the top of the foundation wall....concrete or sill plate?
robdyck replied to Ed_Orum's topic in General Q & A
As mentioned, a ramp or solid will do. A solid can be easier to edit but this is somewhat dependent on the user's mindset. A ramp requires an intuitive knowledge of the buildings heights / elevations and a ramp can only be square or rectangular. A solid can easily be drawn in section view using the snap points generated by the cross section lines. This way, it can be very easy to adjust for a slope by 1" increments or by percentage. And the solid can then be shaped in plan view to account for jogs, corners, or doors. In either instance, I like to place these on their own layer so that I'm not constantly having to 'tab' my way around them when trying to select something else in that room. -
Take a camera view and use the create symbol tool from there. Much simpler.
-
Keep in mind you can't 'move' a referenced plan. When using a referenced plan, the x/y coordinates remain in the same place. For a pool house or detached garage, I draw them in their own plan file and if I need to show them together in a model, I convert the smaller building to a symbol and place it in the larger plan file on its own layer. It's very simple and then I can keep both plans starting at 0,0 on the grid. I never draw 2 buildings on the same plan file. Mostly because of the defualt / height settings, but also because I'm probably going to re-use the accessory building plan over and over. I shouldn't say this out loud, but by doing this you can draw a 'new' detached garage plan to completion in about 5-10 minutes.

@Alaskan_SonWhat are you doing on the forum anyhow? Don't you have anything better to do? Your presence has been sparse over the last several months!

I was expecting this to be driven from the layout box to the camera view, but it is the opposite. It's simpler to number and organize your drawings in layout, isn't it? Shouldn't the camera view plan display have the ability for it's callout label to be driven by the layout box? This isn't a huge problem for a page of 1/4" sections that might only have 3-6 drawings on a page but it will still be a bit of a bugger for detail pages with many drawings per page.
-
I figured it out. Yay! This is the layout box label dialog box:
-
I notice that the 'Automatic' check does not exist for the callout label of a Cross Section or Elevation camera. So how do I get the camera's plan view callout label to match the layout box call out label?
-
I'm looking to use the callout to create a number for the layout box. I was hoping that number would then display as the top portion of the plan view callout for that particular camera.
-
OK, that makes sense. Thanks! For my first project with X14, I hadn't gotten to the section views yet, just the elevation views and I don't show those callouts in plan view.
-
If I'm not mistaken there is no automatic numbering of layout box label callouts, is that correct? We still need to number these manually?
-
No, it doesn't. For some reason it'sbuilding a drywall layer at the default ceiling height of 109 1/8" even though I lowered the shelf celf ceiling to 97 1/8". The ceiling plane is NOT using room ceiling finish, nor are the roof planes over that area.
-
I have the same issue. There's no getting rid of it! Using shelf ceilings has not been a problem in the past. I'll send this to Tech Support.

Interior Walls, Exterior Walls, Walls Normal, Definitions?
robdyck replied to HumbleChief's topic in General Q & A
It's the changes in wall types not following the default layers that makes a deviation a hassle. No big deal if design development is done and you'll never re-use the plan. I re-use a lot of plans and then make edits so following defaults is critical to simplify that process. -
Interior Walls, Exterior Walls, Walls Normal, Definitions?
robdyck replied to HumbleChief's topic in General Q & A
If you change interior walls to a different layer, then when / if you change some of those to invisible, or no-locate, or railing, you'll need to manually change their layer as well. -

Because that's the default. Just like if you change a wall to invisible or no locate, its layer changes to follow the default. The default is key! -

You can change the layer of existing exterior walls while leaving the default exterior wall on the default layer. Then Attic walls will generate on the default layer. -

To clarify: Attic walls will generate on the layer of the default Exterior wall. They won't just follow the exterior wall below. -

No. It will follow the exterior wall below. So if it doesn't have the default layer checked, then you're SOL -
