Difference between export PDF and print to PDF?
robdyck replied to Renerabbitt's topic in General Q & A
I did a text search to try and locate a setting for 600 DPI and found nothing. Every instance is set to 300. I'll keep looking and if I find anything, I'll post the results for future searchers. -
Difference between export PDF and print to PDF?
robdyck replied to Renerabbitt's topic in General Q & A
Is this OK to change? Would / could it cause any unwanted side effects? Just checked that out...on mine, every instance is set to 300. -
@BrownTiger @DzinEye Actually there is a specific date and time that is by far the best to use for sun angles...August 16 @ 4:00 pm. Quitting time on my birthday! Seriously though, if planning for summer shade, I do use that date and time because it's around the time of year where the sun's at its most powerful and starting to be noticeably lower in the sky...and so I feel that's when shade is most important. At least North of 49. I've had many people ask: why aren't you planning shade studies for June 21? Answer: it ain't that hot, and the sun's too high, giving you a false sense of the efficacy of your shading.

Difference between export PDF and print to PDF?

Another little difference: The Export PDF tool will automatically set the page size and orientation based on the page setup, where as the Print tool will not. Still gotta set the DPI manually, though. I assume Export PDF defaults to 600 DPI for everyone else... -
But are you having the fun of submitting some drawings in metric and some in imperial? That's where the magic happens!

How to change "R" symbol on 6" recessed can light

How about that...metric in Texas? Well, I'll be doggoned!

Did you search for the TAS? They have graphics for quite a few requirements. Copy and paste if it suits your project. 502.2 Vehicle Spaces. Car parking spaces shall be 96 inches (2440 mm) wide minimum and van parking spaces shall be 132 inches (3350 mm) wide minimum, shall be marked to define the width, and shall have an adjacent access aisle complying with 502.3.

Chief does have a basic library of CAD blocks. Accessible CAD Blocks...copy that into your library browser. It might be a start.

PBR Object specific lighting render issue?
robdyck replied to ChristinoDesign's topic in General Q & A
Something is messed up with your cameras...the backdrop isn't showing. The backdrop, sun angle and sun color will drastically change your images. Open, the camera, move it outside, and with the library browser open, swap out a different backdrop. Just select one in the library, move the pointer to the camera and with one click it'll swap out. Then, with your camera in its final position, change the sun angle and direction so some sunlight comes through the windows. Turn the shadows off for the 2 chandeliers. Change the drop off rate for the recessed lighting to 12 or 15 for a less harsh effect on the wall. 1500 is my favorite sunlight lumen setting. -
Export PDF tool helps with most of these except DPI apparently. It keeps coming up at 600, even after previous use at 300. The Print tool, however, remembers the last used DPI setting. Both different, both not helpful! They need to remember a DPI setting for that particular page setup.

I can't be the only one who'd like to save that time changing printer settings each time I use a different layout page. Seems like low hanging fruit, which is why I was wondering if I was just missing something obvious. HOLD ON...it would appear as though the EXPORT PDF may help here!!! I'll dig deeper. @Renerabbitt

@BrownTiger Fair enough. When I switch from a layout using Arch D sheets to 8.5x11 for a brochure I need to change the DPI Paper orientation paper size print source
-
Which allows for different materials.
-
Wall DBX, components, footing, create a component using the plus symbol, go through each available row as you see fit, apply a formula to the source object that will populate your desired result based on the wall length. AFAIK, you cannot copy component setting from one wall to another.

How to change "R" symbol on 6" recessed can light
robdyck replied to Ronniesha's topic in General Q & A
right click the light, use the open symbol dialog and you can generate a cad block, or choose a different cad block. -
Is there no way to set the print settings (in the drawing sheet would make sense) so that the print dialog is always correct for a particular layout file? I must be missing something simple...

I believe the only difference is the word Export or Print in the dialog box name. All other options remain the same AFAI can tell. -

I do believe it is the same creature using a different name. That was the conclusion I arrived at. -
You can also edit that component for all your railings like so: =automatic_count/96 Then delete the 'ft' unit indicator
-
Hey Shaun...just noticed this. To get someone's attention, you need to tag them like this: @sdfg111 Take a close look at the screenshot. This is one way to get the reporting you want. Note...height and depth don't matter for the count.
-
Thanks for trying Mark. I figured out how to add a formula to the automatic rebar counts that calculates the increased amount needed ...and some other components like rebar 'L's from footing to wall really quickly. Next Question: how do I copy components from one wall to another?
-
Does anyone know how or where one could set different rebar options for different types of walls, or is the components tab the only place to do this? Example: I have retaining walls that require far more rebar than my default foundation walls. And unfortunately, one cannot copy a component AFAIK. Side question: is there a simple automatic way to get no. 4 rebar to report as 10M in a material list? And no. 5 as 15M etc.

Knock yourself out...it's your plan! Just post some pics of the carnage.
