How to fix wall length Or lock the wall dimentions
SHCanada2 replied to hamedDesighn's topic in General Q & A
feel free to make a suggestion in the suggestion forum. I would agree it would help in certain situations. For most situations i do, i just approximately draw the walls, and then go around the building and adjust them to actual dimensions I use the auto exterior dimension tool to make the dimensions, and then click on a wall, click on the dimension and then enter the dimension). but if you do not do that and put in interior walls, you will be stuck resizing walls everywhere, if you have to resize the exterior walls later. although your rack problem is intriguing, I cannot visualize the problem, so you may want to post the problem in a series of screenshots -
i gave up, deleted the joists and redrew
-
even if I pull back a deck wailing wall and change the size, it is keeping the joists in the same position. if I lower the room floor in abolsute elevation, they still jsut stay there. I think CA thinks I have "retain deck framing" on, even thought it is off....but odd it is only the joists if I delete the the entire deck room, they are still there:
-
unfortunateely it did not work. i think maybe it is because I have the deck next to a covered deck (both are decks). And the covered deck is 2x10
-
no ...see second screenshot (which looks like it is part of the first)
-
so I saw this yesterday and then redrew the deck to fix it, but now it has happened again today. I was resizing the joists in the deck from 2x10 to 2x8, and now it looks like this, with the joist protruding through the deck boards. Anyone else seen this? xsec shows the rim board dropped properly I thought maybe it had to do with this setting, but even if it does, how does one "fix it" now, as changing it doesnt seem to do anything even if I resize now to 2x6 changed to 2x6 and now it is worse I tried rebuilding all framing, no luck I could just lower them all manually, but really there must be a way to get them to move, without having to redraw the deck

for that budget that is simialr to what I would buy(i would buy intel, but that is just because I have no idea on AMD), as long as the memory is expandable. i have a 17" screen. I wouldnt go back to anything smaller
-
looks like the 3080 laptop GPU is pretty close to the same as the 4070 laptop so the one you pointed out is a later processor than mine but without the 32GB for $2450, $200 less than what I paid 18 months ago. and it is ddr5 for the ram so that is good
-
i think you have to watch a little bit, on the 40 series, some of them are ranked lower than the 30 series
-
nice price for a 17" could do this for $1150 and buy more memory if you needed it https://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX00122400 they look about the same, although it is DDR4, not sure what your MSI is
-
I'd try and find a better video card, that is the thing that seems to get pinned for me. I wouldnt go lower than 32GB There were some with 3080s at memory express for the past 6 months, but they seem to be gone

4/12= manufactured homes in my mind. I try and avoid that pitch, except for the exquisite modular homes I do , because any higher wont make it under the bridges when it is on a truck but your 5:12 does look like a lot of roof. I might raise the heel hight or change the pitch over the deck so it is broken up https://www.architecturaldesigns.com/house-plans/country-house-plan-with-wraparound-porch-and-three-bedroom-suites-68660vr?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI7sLrwNTI_gIVSTWtBh0VgQZDEAQYBSABEgKJwPD_BwE but I prefer gables personnaly, so take my opinion with a grain of salt you could put some skylights in there to break it up or hip the ends for less roof

my template has 4 walls in the basement, main floor and second floor. When i start a project, first thing I do is adjust those walls to match the design.
-
I rarely if ever change the wall in the elevation view (which is where I think this is the place it can be done) and I just started this project today which is why it was odd ...but I took a different template today (one i use for floor plans), and sure enough, that wall had it unchecked. I need a test suite for my templates I guess
-
weird, I dont remember changing it, thanks
-
anyway to get rid of this? The walls align per the align tool. the wall widths show the same. wall type is the same 172 Carringham Way NE.plan shows flat ,but you can see the little u shape might be because I changed a foundation wall to exterior wall. but if I delete the wall, draw a new wall and then align to above I get the same thing
-
well since the party is started, i'll throw my two cents in. I would just draw the walls wihtout concern for length, close them in, hit the auto eterior dimensions, then follow dbcooper with the correct selection of the 3 buttons when selecting the dim to change the wall length

Top wall plate on lower walls not updating

your subfloor is at absolute elevation 3/4", not sure if you want it that way.... It looks like your short wall height had been changed. i clicked the default. I also then adjusted the roof plane using transform replicate, adjusting the Z until the top plate was at 9' -
perfect glad to see I am not the first person to have this.
-
And i certainly will. Eric, it sounded like you have not experienced this problem? I always think to myself, surely I am not the first person to have this issue. and in this case I would have thought every man and his dog doing outside renders would have this issue, which is why I was asking the broader question.
-
thanks i will try that. my broader question is, what are others doing?

the water reflection in the glass (from the backdrop) is distracting. I put some trees on the left (out of view) for the left windows. But for the right windows I have an interior camera pointing that way so I dont want trees there. I suppose I could put them on a layer. I tried adjusting the sun position but it did not seem to make a difference But is there a way to dullen the reflection? or what is everyone else doing? thanks

does it happen on both your computers?

if it was me and I had that budget I'd look at AORUS 17X AZF-B5US665SP w/ Core™ i9-13900HX, 32GB, 2TB SSD, 17.3in QHD 240Hz, GeForce RTX 4090, Wi-Fi 6E, BT, Win 11 Pro or ROG Strix SCAR 18 G834JY-XS97 w/ Core™ i9-13980HX, 32GB DDR5, Dual 1TB M.2 SSD, 18in WQXGA, RTX 4090, Wi-Fi 6E, Win 11 Pro or Stealth 17 Studio A13VI-017US w/ Core™ i9-13900H, 64GB, 2TB SSD, 17.3in QHD 240Hz, GeForce RTX 4090, Wi-Fi 6E, BT, Win 11 Pro i'd put my money int he graphics card as that is the only thing I ever see pinned
