The only other thing that's strange, is that I'm not having these issues with files that were recovered for X11, only X12.

Okay, I found the problem and it has nothing to do with "saved plan views" for I don't use them and saved plan views are always set to "none" for I don't use them. Here's what I have to do to fix this in certain plans and ('ll explain "certain plans" in a minute). In different working plans, when I send the plan view to the layout referencing the 2nd. floor, I have to open the viewport and tell it which floor to reference and not use the default setting of "automatic". It seems to reference different things in different plans so I have to open the viewport in the layout (different plans) and turn off stuff. Now that I know how to fix it, it's a quick fix. This is NOT a user error or a program error. I can open a new plan and layout and send the plan to the layout referencing the 2nd. floor and all is good. Here's what's happening. Last month, my laptop hard drive went bad and lost all my files. OMG, this was my worst nightmare for I was working on 3 very involved plans. Anyway, I did have a great computer tech recover my files. I bought a new laptop and reinstalled X10, X11, and X12. Apparently in the recovery of the files, something happened to the files that is messing up how the referencing is being transferred to the layout for it's different with different plans. Everything works fine when I do a new plan. I also noticed that a couple of the textures didn't recover right even though they should have but was an easy fix. So far, these are the only problems I've had with these recovered files. I'm so relieved that I at least got my files back!

Dermot, I don't use saved plan views. I will check this again later. Thank you.

Did anything happen in X12 when sending a plan view to layout with the 2nd. floor reference turned on? It's not working for me. I can get it to show right if I send it to layout as an image. Just tried it in X11 and the plan referencing the 2nd. floor sent just fine to the layout. (without sending it as an image). Am I missing something new in X12?

Did an online meeting with Joe and showed him some other things he needs to know about editing schedules that wasn't mentioned here which would have been difficult to explain here without writing a book. Also told him about an old schedule problem (that's been confirmed by Chief) that still isn't fixed in X12 probably due because no one complains.

My new laptop has this feature and my raytracing is a lot faster than what I used to have but probably not due to the RTX card.

I meant to say "saved plan views".

Well David, to be honest, I would have to watch you sending these plan views to the layout using a new layout to see what's happening and how you're doing it. If you're using "plan views", that could be the issue but don't know. Feel free to call me at 832-754-6160 or maybe someone here can help on this forum.

If you're sending to page "0", don't. Things sent to page "0" will be seen on every page.

Comment, if there's not enough room to reverse the direction, Chief might not let you do it. Try moving the door over first and see if that helps.

Click the edge of the polyline you want to make parallel and then dble. click the make parallel tool and select "rotate entire polyline".

I've had this happen to me a couple of times. Someone here on the forum was gracious enough to fix it for me and send it back. Can't remember who did it though.

VIDEO LESSON: The New Tray Ceiling Tool in X12
tommy1 replied to SNestor's topic in Tips & Techniques
Played with it a little today. Something I noticed is that the tray ceiling tool cuts for the roof which is fantastic. If you use the soffit tool it doesn't which forced me to do a work around before. Great improvement!! -
Can X12 open a X5 plan file so it can be modified?

I too use version folders with sub folders of the jobs. This helps me know which version the plan is in. -
Can X12 open a X5 plan file so it can be modified?
tommy1 replied to ccl2005's topic in Sales Related Questions
Simon, I'm sure Joe is right except I do what I feel is a little safer method. I keep all my plan files in a job folder for each job. What I do is in Windows Explorer, I select the file, copy and paste it into a new folder that I'm using with X12. That way for sure your original plan file can be used in the older version. Either way should be fine. -
VIDEO LESSON: The New Tray Ceiling Tool in X12

Thank you. Haven't needed to do a tray ceiling yet but your video is very helpful. -
Did you have this problem before you upgraded the video card?
-
Watch the "what's new" video closely and you'll see what they're talking about. I had to watch it a couple of times to catch it.

This is what I do and makes it easier to dimension for engineer.

From what I understand, SSA technical support and "training" are different. Technical support is really for problems caused by the program. Technical support is really not there to train you how to use the program. They have a fee for that. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

I can't duplicate your problem in X12. Are you using a downloaded dishwasher?
-
As mentioned, don't use that tool. Use an open below room or auto stairwell.

This is what I've done and used for so many years. I'll continue. Glad it will still work. Started my first plan yesterday in X12 which will have a little bit of everything. I pray it goes well. So far so good.
