  1. That is actually a hip roof, not a Dutch gable. Either takes one takes a couple of minutes to do (manually).
  2. I do all my electrical legends in a cad detail. To get the cad block (not the symbol), either place the "cad block management" tool on your toolbar and get it there or go to the cad tab at the top toolbar and go down to "cad block management" and get the cad block there to place in the plan or cad detail. If your not sure which cad block it is then go to the plan and select the symbol>open symbol (not open item) and check to see what the cad block name is for that symbol.
  3. We will have an online meeting Tuesday, July 7th. from 6:00pm to 8:00pm (Central time). Please email me at my email address below in my signature if you would like to join. Feel free to call or email me if you have any questions. I plan to go over how I do pergolas built manually. All other questions will be taken after that. Have a safe and happy 4th. Thank you,
  4. Keep in mind that if you scale the image big time larger, the more distorted it will look. You really need to start out with a larger image size in the beginning.
  5. Try importing it into a cad detail and see if that works. Hit fill screen if needed.
  6. Matt, I personally don't have any computer issues running X6 or X7 on this laptop. I know some people have complained about X7 being slower but I haven't noticed that or at least nothing to complain about. I do keep separate folders for X6 and X7 plans. The girl I mainly work for is using X6. She claims she doesn't have time to upgrade which is frustrating for me because it really doesn't take that much time. All my personal plans are done in X7. When doing plans for Katy, the girl I work for, we generally may have three people working on the plan at different times (not at the same time). We use dropbox. I do have to be careful on which version I open it with. In general, my first job is to do the existing plan which I do outside of the dropbox. When I'm finished, Katy will share a folder on dropbox with me and I'll then move the plan to the dropbox so that she'll have access to it. She then does the proposed plan. When she's finished, I'll then get it ready for the builders to bid from and or do the construction drawings. Once the plan is in the dropbox, I have to be careful which version I open it with. This method works pretty good for us. I personally don't care for dropbox but I'm probably the only person who feels that way.
  7. You're Welcome. Actually, they changed how this works in X6.
  8. When I say it works, I mean that it works for 3D views. Plan view doesn't show lintels...only casing. The program has never shown lintels in plan view. It does show sills if they are changed in plan views.
  9. Works fine. No problems extending lintel.
  10. When I get my laptop out, I'll check this out using the default lintel profile. Maybe there's a bug. I usually use a custom lintel profile.
  11. I use exterior lintels all the time. If you're still having problems, let me know and I'll help you online. When we do Victorian style houses, most of the lintels have crown above with wider (taller) casing above and the crown has to have a return.
  12. All imported images including pdfs will import on the (cad, default) layer by default.
  13. I'm quite satisfied with mine once I got the settings right.
  14. Yes you can. Right click on one of the corner handles and drag it. You have to right click while dragging. It will work. I do it all the time.
  15. The other option would be to add it to your profile plan you're using so that it would be in your wall dropdown.
  16. Here is my info in my signature. Would be happy to talk to you. I live in the Spring Branch area. Cell- 832-754-6160 (not included in signature)
  17. Chief doesn't have them. Here, the common handrail is like what you have circled at the bottom. Send me an email at my address below and I send you one like the one on the bottom left. If you like, I will show you online how to make them yourself using gotomeeting.
  18. Without look at the program, you could always take the recessed light from Chief's library and copy it to your user library. With the symbol in your user library, open symbol and rotate it to the angle desired and make it sit on floor. Place it in the plan. Take an elevation and drag it up. Probably other ways to do it too.
  19. Exactly right. Joe, I don't understand why you're asking this? This is nothing new. CA has always worked like this.
  20. Some of the plants take a while to load and most of the Viking stuff is high poly count (some of the manufacturer molding too). I generally stay away from those libraries.
  21. Basic rule: 9 times out of 10, a roof plane will always cut a wall off.
  22. You do realize that when you do the proposed plan, you need to move those existing roof planes back in order to generate the new walls to where they can be seen above the existing roof planes.
  23. If you can't figure this out, let me know and I'll help you online. I assume you're doing a "save-as" for the proposed plan.
  24. Joey, this is how I've shown pier & beam years ago in 3D. We don't show this in 3d in our plans. We only show plan views with call-outs and cad details for the call-outs in our construction drawings. In the image I show, the piers and interior beams were done manually. Floor framing and perimeter beams were created using Chief walls and floor framing. If you're interested in how I did this, then call or email me. The image was done a long time ago using V10 or X1. I guess it would work the same way. I haven't done it in a long time.
