Look in the library for room call-outs. They have the look you want.

Perry, did you look at the link? Apparently no one uses it like I do but it is very helpful.

Well, I happen to agree with Doug. Back then, the macro wasn't working right which was confirmed by Doug. Now it works. Everyone can do it as they wish.

Doug Park has already commented that using the layout box label is not the correct way to do this. See post #17 from this link. https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/236-x6-layout-question/?hl=%2Bscale+%2Bmacro Joey, when I do my meeting with you tomorrow, I'll show you a good way to do this. Fast and easy.

Ca Is Showing Mistakes That The Architect Didn't See In Revit
tommy1 replied to Electromen's topic in General Q & A
We see mistakes all the time in plans that are from Architects. Mistakes such as dimensions not adding up, roofs that don't work, elevations that don't match the plan, etc.. We don't really say anything to anyone except letting the homeowner know of some problems with the plans provided. We never say anything to the Architect for it's not our place to do that nor do we care. We just have to make it right. If we are just modeling the plan from the Architects plan for the homeowner and find that things are not right or don't work, then we just explain that to the homeowner. If dimensions don't add up right or elevations don't match the plans, we can simply tell the homeowner to look closer at the plans. -

Mark, a few years ago, I made some lip molded doors/drawers and paneled doors like we would actually make in the field using 3/8" lip mold. For the paneled doors, I used the panel molding that we used to make this type of door in the field in combination with 3/4" Birch or Oak plywood. The paneled doors have the 3/8" lip mold too. If you are interested in this library, let me know (and the version of CA you're using).

Todd, the only thing I would do is to unblock both cad blocks. Now draw a marquee around the cad block you want to join to the other (don't block it). Once selected and with you end snap turned on, do a point to point move. The snaps should work and you can place the selected cad object to the other one with snaps.
-
Todd, it kinda looks like the only reason you have this is to get a different room label. If so, then I would delete it and just place text for the different room name. Just a quick fix.

If you're drawing the roof manually and you want to quickly see where the roof intersect each other, use the "Roof laser tool". It's actually a setting you have in preferences so that you can place roof intersection points. I don't believe it's on by default.

I just started using X7 this week for a remodel. I really glad that I haven't run into any problems yet. I'll need a little time to get used to it for a while.

My 1st. rule is to save and name the plan before I do anything. In doing this, you won't have the problem you just encountered. An untitled plan will not be kept.

How Do I Change The Orientation Of The Whole House?
tommy1 replied to 4hotshoez's topic in General Q & A
I always rotate the site plan. I never rotate the house or building unless there is no other choice. -
I just sent you a reply.

If you would like some one on one help today for free, call or email me. I can show you via gotomeeting.

I always have to do this kind of stuff with stairs completely manual from newels to railing to get the look I need. Major pain. I won't bring up volutes. I try not to even do the railing until I know for sure how the client wants the stairs.

This is so correct. Just went through this with a girl that works with Louis. I was making changes in the drop box and she was not seeing them and was getting errors when she opened the layout. I had to go there and watch what she was doing and this is how I found the problem. She was changing the path on how she was accessing the plan and layout. Once I showed her that she can't do it that way, there was no longer any problems. She had created a shortcut to access the file. In doing this, she had changed the path of the plan and to the layout.

On a large layout, after I hit print, it may take anywhere from 1 minute to 2 minutes to bring up the box to name it and save it. Naming it and saving it goes fast. The smaller the layout, the faster it goes. This is the only thing using the program that takes any time to do. Like I mentioned, I didn't have this problem in X5 and previous versions.
-
Adam, if you're talking about printing to make a PDF, then I'm having that problem too when the layout is fairly large. It will make it though if you just wait and let it do it. I never had this problem in previous versions. I haven't tried it in X7 yet since I just downloaded it.

This sort of reminds me of the "Dealers" that Chief used to have years go.

Actually, I renewed my SSA in December 2014 (early).

Just got off the phone with Tech Support and he said that as soon as I click "upgrade" for X7, it will then give me a new Product Key. I was concerned about messing up X6. He also wasn't sure when the general release of X7 was coming out but said it should be in at least a couple of weeks.
-
Thank you. My locker says that my SSA expires Feb, 2016 so at one time it got updated. If it does come out on the 5th, I may just wait. I guess I need to call Tech Support.
-
I was about to download it but the X7 Beta product key is the same as my X6 product key. Is this right?

"If you are going to use any other files, such as imported cad files, pdfs or images, then put them all in the same folder. If you keep everything in the same folder, you won't lose anything. If you need to send the project to someone else or transfer it to another computer, zip up the whole folder and send the zip file." I can assure you that if you do it this way, there will be no problems! The only other thing I can add is that be sure the folder with everything is in the dropbox and or if you want to give the plan, layout, etc. to someone else, another option is to place the folder on a jump drive for them. I do this all the time with people and have no problems. I also work with drop box daily.
