  1. Once you create a symbol, that's it; the symbol is a monolithic entity. I save my component parts file as a *.plan. That way, if changes are needed, then I can go back and edit.
  2. Scott--woof, you're asking a lot. 1) - Already available through deactivate/active. Getting CA to separate Pheobe(The internal RT engine) from the core software might be nice--some day. 2) - Export to... well, this usually involves v-ray and Adobe Premiere Pro CC; maybe some After Effects thrown in. Seriously, at what point do you say I need to hire a professional? Either that or go with the "realism" provided by Lumion. How real do you want to get? Who's your audience? 3) - Already exists within CAX8 4) - Um... 5) - Not sure I understand the collaboration part. Are you interested in Thea/V-Ray/Maxwell training? Or, do you want to look over an Archvis artist's shoulder while they do the magic? (Good luck with that) My suggestion (for what it's worth), learn the full capabilities of the toolset you have in front of you before searching for "greener grass". Have you seen the stuff Jintu is doing straight out of Chief (On the Facebook Users Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/UsersofChiefArchitect/?ref=bookmarks )? Perhaps some paid training would be beneficial to your efforts.
  3. I'm incredibly jealous of my niece, who works primarily in Revit, but her firm uses SketchUp as interop/coordination software. (Yes, they have custom software that allows rapid Revit file translation to SketchUp--amongst others). Anyway, she goes on and on about the extensive skp/dae libraries she works with that will never see the light of day in 3D Warehouse or any other public forum. I've tried to pry a few fixtures out of her greedy little hands, but she claims some proprietary blah, blah, blah. That's healthcare architects for ya.
  4. Without seeing your RT & Material settings, my guess is to reduce the Specular value of the floor material to <15%. It's a start.
  5. A small collection of prairie-style doors. (Corrected) JCC Prairie Door Collection.calibz
  6. Dan, is there an App? Or do I need to open a browser on my Andriod phone?
  7. I wouldn't say any issues. I had Chrome open and logged into ChiefTalk. Anything but images failed to upload. Closed CT in Chrome and things worked fine.
  8. Edge test part II RipRap.skp cantilever2ndFloor.plan
  9. Looks a bit cleaner. test files... Refuse_bin-commercial.skp 20151110_1028_Richmond_Onion_Roof.plan bell roof 4.zip

  11. Is the fireplace something you've imported as well? Looks like one of those Sketchup double-sided polygone SNAFUs
  12. I have never had a Max file work as Max textures are specific to that software.
  13. Or, use a custom Ceiling Plane.
  14. I create a Room Molding Polyline, and drag it into the room.
  15. Works fine on my end--using OLD laptop hardware. See if AMD has any driver updates?
  16. What's your expected output that 500dpi is needed? 300dpi is tops for most high quality digital output. If your output is to screen, then 72dpi. Or, if you're sending to Layout for inclusion into CDs, then either 72 or 150dpi should do the trick.
  17. Ours is not to reason why--just fix the darned thing. I actually checked the User's Manual and Reference docs, and there is no "whoopsy" clause for defining an interior room as a Balcony. However, the Reference Manual does clearly state that a Balcony room type is reserved for exterior use (along with a Deck and Court types). I guess we now know what happens if you define an interior room as a Balcony.
