  1. Glenn, you for forgot the point to point method.
  2. Agree 100%, a simple toggle to reference something other than sea level. That being said, more and more I am able to get actual contours on line via city plans with topo lines referenced to sea level. The internet is really wonderful. I look at their topo on line, take a screen shot, import into plan, resize as necessary and then trace the city topo lines. But again, being able to reference a know benchmark vs. sea level would be a nice feature, I have been asking for this for several years.
  3. I am surprised the roof did not cut it off.... did you hit f12 to rebuild, if you did, I think the roof would cut off the walls. Not a big deal if the roof cuts off walls, all you need to do is put a hole in the roof platform and the framing of attic walls will pop thru. Nice job if it is truly working. I am loathe to drag walls up and down in elevation, don't know why, probably because I am anal, but if it works, good, but it should not be necessary, we should be able to control the height via the ceiling height default.... which of course needs a room def.
  4. Curt, I just tried again to build a chimney chase, and I do not get it. It should not be difficult, but I cannot seem to get it to work. There always seems to be some minor snafu that does not make the exercise worth doing. I use PSOLIDS for the chimney chase, not ideal by any means, but I just can't get the chimneys to work for me.
  5. This is a great question, I have fussed with this on multiple occasions and for some reason it never works for me. I usually create the chimney out of a solid. I know, not a good solution, I know it does not frame the walls...... i will give this another go, it should not be too hard.
  6. Yes, this would be nice, why can't we have it? I don't know, I know I would use it all the time.
  7. It's controlled via the text size for the layer the box is on. What layer is the box on? That layer has a text size associated with the layer. This is the controlling factor. Change the text size for the layer.
  8. Vids can be found here when done cooking. https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/1309-bosox-gable-end-vids-by-dsh/
  9. Just thinking about this...... Suppose you put a 2'x2' window in a wall, and by adjusting the sash to 12" wide, and adjusting its location in the frame, you suddenly have a niche with a backing and the backing can have an interio rmaterial and a different exterior material.
  10. Not perfect, but the best solution to date, thanks JC.
  11. Hmm, how does it look in plan view? Yo yay be on to something
  12. Great puzzle. I assume the answer would be redefining the origin. If I am not mistaken, the wall will be in front of symbol. IOW, the wall with a fill will hide the symbol that has a fill. A perfect usage of this would be a medicine cabinet. However I do not think this will work for a wall niche. I will await the answer with bated breath.
  13. We keep this info secret for users with less than 20 posts. Seriously though, I just use a double oven to represent an oven with mw above. I never knew there was a oven /mw in library. You know what, it seems to me with x6 they now allow two appliance in a cabinet...... am I correct on this.... I think I tried it once, did not spend much time on it, but was not able to make it work.
  14. Here is a question. Who uses this info? Does anybody use this info? I will say that I do a lot of terrain plans and have never needed this info. Gerry I understand that you want an answer, I bet you do not get one from anybody, and if you do get an answer, I bet there is nobody who will explain to you how to use this info. As much as I love the program, CA is not very good at explaining how to use many different functions within the program.
  15. My answer is.... who the *&*&^ cares.... even if I knew, it would be too complicated to figure out. Sorry Gerry, I really don't get it and apparently you do not get it either and apparently the CA gurus don't get it and even if somebody understood it, how would you use it? I guess the question to you would be why do you care and how would that help you do whatever you do? I suppose my answer would be there are other methods to do whatever you might be trying to do. Sorry, I was not able to actually answer your question, it would be interesting if ANYBODY can answer your question and then if they can explain how that would use this info.
  16. Been thinking about this. Seems like you build it all with 2d molding similar to a handrail. The big problem with both method is going up side of gable end.
  17. Nice job JP. Is that travertine material a seamless image and where did you get it, can I get a copy? Now you need to put in some furnishings to make it pop.u You can post more images by using the MORE REPLY OPTIONS button, I think 5 images max.
  18. Open the logo dvx and check SAVE IN PLAN or when you go to other computer select logo and open dvx and locate the file or save the logo itself in the folder that the plan is in.
  19. Hotel Del, living the good life..... no problems here with imported pdf's being huge...... I am assuming you are referring to a huge VISUAL size and not a HUGE file size .....
  20. You might look into getting "PACKRAT" which is a service offered by drop box that saves all your stuff for eternity.... if I am not mistaken. I have not had to use it yet, but it was relatively inexpensive and I guess it gives me another level of comfort.
  21. Thanks Ron, Right back at you. I went snorkling with my son yesterday at La Jolla Cove. Had a great time. I don't do enough of that.
  22. Dog gone you Jan. How have you been? Let's get together for. Happy hour soon. Monday I will have my people call your people lot set that up.
  23. Nuts Bernie, I thought you had done some vids on this, so I follow the site and it's the vids I did, I did these 4 months ago and you are just finding them. Anyway, thanks for reminding me about these, I probably should review them.
