And we are off, another 30 post thread without a conclusion. This one will be fun to watch.

First, Looking at the photo it is difficult to see the problem. Second When chief builds a deck, it uses 2x decking with gaps between them. IOW, it is not waterproofed. If that works for you, ignore the warning. Third, if you can't draw a house with four walls the same height, you might want to look for a different program.

6 hours for the measure sounds a bit. High. For a job that size typically takes 2.5 to 3.5 hours with two people. You might want to join us this Saturday for our ON LINE MEASURING WORHSHOP. you might pick up a few tips and you could share a few tips. I'm anticipating picking up some very good tips and hoping to learn more about the laser measures.

Glenn, the TAB issue is unique to the MAC. Should work fine on PC.

this is a test. I want to know what happens if I do not hit the ADD TO POST button for the jpeg. EDIT; I guess the pix go in front of the text instead of at the end.

And since we are sharing, this project took 40 hours. Modeled off of an architects set of plans. It took an additional 20 hours to take wall elevations of all rooms sans closets, that was quite a surprise, a lot longer than I would of thought. All of these jpegs are renders and not ray traces. Again, this is for comparison sake. It helps us all know what is possible and gives us goals to shoot for.
-
Thanks for sharing that Allan. It is great when we share with others the time spent doing things. We then become aware of what is possible. Now for my blistering comments. The time spent to create the model sounds pretty good. Not sure if that included measuring time on site and whether it included a full set of structural plans, but pretty darn good. You did have a bit of time developing the site with the retaining wall, steps and slope bank in front. The 30 minute time for each ray trace is awful. Not sure what kind of machine you are running or your ray trace settings. I use the crappy ray trace method, (under 2 minutes). I think my ray traces may be better in a fraction of the time, you be the judge. You can probably speed up your production if you were to find out why your ray traces took so long and why they are not any better. (3) crappy ray traces are attached (2 minutes each).

It all works pretty well except you must TAB to the NEXT button, and then hit the NEXT button. It was reported during BETA but not fixed.
-
That happened to me also, I forgot how I fixed it or if I did fix it for that particular plan. I just tried it in new plan and all is okay. Does it happen in all your plans or just that one?
-
Yes, a very big problem with the MAC. Your pdf files are typically 80 meg, very hard to email. I have resorted to drawing on the MAC and printing on PC. IOW, keep a PC handy. Well, if you have been on a MAC, how do you print your plans?

Can't move or resize anything in perspective views
dshall replied to mydog8it's topic in General Q & A
Heck, I did not have cross hair on for perspective views. Turned it on. Makes no difference if synchronize is on or off, no lag, cross hair keeps up with arrow.- 24 replies

Okay, let me see......... yeah, mine says "LAST auto saved ......." Brian's says "VIEW auto saved....." I assume it is all the same thing.
-
I believe you get the auto save message, but do you see "VIEW AUTO SAVE" button? Maybe the "VIEW AUTO SAVE" button appears after the post disappears.
-
Occasionally for a split second something pops up while I am typing that says AUTO SAVED. I do not see the Brian's "VIEW AUTO SAVE" button. As I am typing this, the last auto save was 2 minutes ago, whoops, it auto saved at 2 minutes 0 seconds, but I still do not see Brian's "VIEW AUTO SAVE" button. Last save at 4:55:45 next auto save at .....waiting....... 4:57:45, yep every two minutes. BTW, have not seen the AUTO SAVED button pop up during this post. That is not a big deal.

I completely agree with you Joe. With the size projects we do, faster to keep it down to one prison per project except for cad details.
-
I was thinking of this just today. In the past I would put these in the job folder. But why not put these joeys in the library. Is there a downside?
-
Actually the forum is 4 minutes faster than my iPad time which is set to the atomic clock.
-
It looks right to me. Maybe it's your machine.
-
Jon, sure wish you would join us Saturday, I would be interested in hearing your methods.
-
I am thinking about getting a new Disto. With P.'s help I am sure I can find one. The big feature is the auto leveling. Auto leveling allows you to measure a true horizontal distance even if the line of sight is at an angle up to 45 degrees from horizontal.
-
CA, you hear this? Two experienced have almost given up on stairs. Let's please improve for x7
-
I can't explain it Joe. I think others have mentioned this. Maybe it is our particular computers. All I know is if I take too long to type my answer and then hit the post key, it does not get posted. Everything I typed disappeared into the abyss.
-
I just spent 10 minutes putting together a post and because I did not hit the POST button soon enough, all that info was lost. Please guys, fix this along with not timing us out. Ain't it funny, seconds of our life are so important these days that minor inconveniences like this are exasperating.
-
I agree with Ron, a closed pline is the most accurate way to go. Now if CA would just work it out so that the pline has a label that includes an area, we can take that macro and shuffle it around to our own area analysis text blocks. Hey CA, do us a favor and work this out, thank you, thank you very much.

That is exactly what I am saying, and if I did not have to talk to Lynn when she got home 20 minutes ago, I would of said that........ you guys know how it is........ we have to pretend that our wives are more important than Chief Talk........ oops, I hope she did not hear that. Give it a play Andy, check and see what level the roof framing will show on IN PLAN depending on what level. Do an experiment..... add 5 floors to your house, move the roof plan up 5 floors, check and see what level it displays on.
