Isn't that interesting. All upper cabinets are relative to the floor from the BOTTOM OF UPPER CABINET, not the TOP OF UPPER CABINET. I think more times than not, all top heights line up and the bottoms do not, i.e. upper cabinet above a cooktop with a microwave under upper cabinet. The top of that upper cabinet will align with the other upper cabinets but the bottom of cabinet does not. Hey, CA, fix this please, thank you. Yeah Barry, you might want to put this in the suggestion box, they don't always listen to these threads.

How to build exterior stairs that follow the terrain
dshall replied to Riemie's topic in General Q & A
Yusef does it again, okay Yusef, how did you do it. However, I am with Joe on this one, instead of the riser heights varying, it would be better if the tread depth varied. Come on Yusef, please tell us how you did it. -

Nope, can't do it..... however, if you wait long enough, Glenn might prove me wrong. -
Very hard to find, my third from bottom is a "t" line style.
-
I have heard that rumor but never took the time to find it. Please help me out, where is it? The pic shows that last line styles but I do not see the blank line style.

X10 key for sale........ details below.... Manuf. in the year 2005......

I sold it to Wendy, she is the only one that could pay my price. -
Well, when it comes to layouts, what I find very useful is to use anno sets/layer sets to create different LAYOUT BORDERS. By toggling from one anno set to the next you can define your border (depending on the client) and you can also define the size of the border depending on the size of the paper you are going to use for a particular project. Some people might advocate a different LAYOUT FILE TEMPLATE for each client and for each size of printable paper, but by using anno sets and layer sets you can have a multitude of different PROJECT BORDERS and PAPER SIZES all within ONE LAYOUT TEMPLATE.

I get the sarcasm, it was deserved, sorry I was not of any help.

That is so true, and it is not a bad thing, it just means we are constantly fine tuning our methods. A big lesson to learn, and this was my thought 10 years ago when I started using the program... and that is...... it does not have to be perfect today..... it will never be perfect..... I will constantly be fine tuning the methodology......... but for every tweak I make...... I will be quicker at completing the subsequent project. Now if CA ever makes auto updatable elevations an option..... I swear....,.. it will increase my productivity by 10%. Do you hear that CA? ..... 10% my brothers..... auto updatable elevations will be the bomb ...... 70Buddy, point is, you will always be modifying your templates/SAM's, learn how to use anno sets and it will be a no brainer, something that will not effect your work flow, learn to be flexible, learn that you will not have the perfect layer set, your methodology is ever evolving.

Oh, yeah, i suppose I should of said 10. Anyway, the key has now been sold to the highest bidder, $357.27, I think Wendy has more money than she know what to do with. -
I am not sure what the problem is, CA has already set up anno sets for you. Use them, they are for users who do not want to be bothered with customizing their own. Please, use the anno sets that CA gave you.

If you are not on a strict budget, if I were in your position, I would definitely consult a professional. There are some nice features and some nice design ideas.... I like the laundry off the closet...... but there is so much that can be done to improve the plan that a professional can help you with. Bad design features: - Refrigerator too far from kitchen triangle - a bedroom without any windows or egress - no window in laundry - no windows in master baath - there could be french doors from master bed to porch - you should get window in front of house at kitchen these are the major items I would address..... but truly, get a pro involved, the additional cost will be worth it.

Cleaning out my office I found my old X10 key. I am willing to part with this relic for the price of $0.38 OBO ....... and if you beg nicely, I just might give it to you for free....... it's so small I could mail it to you. A photo of the illustrious key is below. Isn't that weird, it still has the sticker on it...... email me at dscotthall@mac.com

No, the fill is limited to certain objects....... I suppose that would be monolithic, i.e. terrain, concrete slabs, walls (not monolithic), not cabinets, not end grain, not counters, flooring? don't think so, great question, would be nice for a pattern for a section thru cabinets, counters tops.....

Larry, You might want to double check this. You can define the default floor structures for all floors. Build a 20 story building, they all have the overall default floor structure, you can now go into the default floor structure for the 14th floor, change it, and that new default will override the OVERALL floor defaults, and then after the 20 story building is built, you can go into the default floor structure for the 8th floor and change the default floor structure for the eighth floor. The point of this post is you can change the default floor structure for a particular floor or all floors after the floors are built. I will be glad to show you how to do it in a GTM.

As I said before, blocked framing does not show in 3d. It is a nuisance. Solution, unblock framing for 3d views.
-
Yep, attach the plan... but viewing blocked framing has always been a problem. I do not know why, but I do know going back to 2005, if the framing was blocked, you could not se it in 3d....... solution? unblock.

Agree, not sure what the mystery is.

Imagine your 2x12 form boards are 8" above bottom of footing trench. The concrete will ooze under form boards by about 3" to side of trench. Note that trench for footings was dug @ 12" wide. I need a minimum 12x6 footing with bottom of footing 2" into grade. thus we have a "stem wall" that connects the footing to the slab. Note the "stem wall" needs to be between 6"-8" wide (not s wide as footing), The point being, big time developers who are building a 1000 homes is looking to cut costs where they can, so by using a narrower "stem all" he can save on concrete materials. think about how you would dig the trench for the footing (a bit wider thane the perimeter of house), put in form boards..... think about it.... the concrete oozes under the form boards.

Joe you are correct. CA, please fix the mono slabs.
