  1. Genius at work.... again.... thanks Glenn....... however, I am not sure why a symbol used as a panel for a railing at stairs would not work just as well or better. I think the OP's beef was the cable railing was using small diameter rails whereas he wanted to use 1-1/2" diameter rails...... if that is the case, create the panel symbol with 1-1/2" dia. rails ..... would also read better in plan and newels may also be employed.
  2. Are you kidding Rich, I have a 43.67 kadoodleterra byte size hard drive. I could put the entire Library of Congress on my 'puter. I have progressed mightily from the 40meg hard drive that was on my MAC SE30 BACK IN 1989....... jeez...... am I really that old? I wonder if my wife is going to put me down in a humanely way soon........
  3. Take a look at the attached plan and see if this might help. rod and shelf.plan
  4. Probably roof intersection points. Easily deletable.
  5. I apologize for wasting your time, it won't happen again.
  6. Yes. If you can't figure it out and the plan is in front of you, what are the chances of me figuring it out without the plans in front of me? I already took one stab at a solution and I failed miserably. Do you want me to keep guessing until I get it right or would you mind posting the plan so I can help you out in one quick shot? I swear, 90% of the time if I try to help somebody out without a plan, I end up spending 15 minutes instead of 4 minutes solving THEIR problem.
  7. Nuts, that oil is hot,,,,,,, I had a feeling I was not going to be successful without a plan.......
  8. I feel like I am walking under a bridge that has 37 men and 3 damsels poised to pour red hot burning oil on me............ but here goes,....... I know guys, I know guys, no plan, I am going against my animal instincts, this is a real stab in the dark but there goes....... the text style is controlled by TEXT STYLE and not USE LAYER FOR TEXT STYLE....... gosh, am going to get under the bridge without the wrath of 37 men and 3 damsels or will I feel the hot gooey oil pour down the nape of my neck Time will tell.
  9. That works, but you lose the ability to have a ROUND CROSS SECTION AREA for the molding that is converted to a solid.
  10. I swear, Joe is always busting my chops, notice that Joe talked about a MOLDING PROFILE, he did not talk about a MOLDING, so Joe is moving the line in the sand...... you lost this one Joe. The question was can we convert a molding to a solid.
  11. I don't think so, you can convert the molding to a symbol, but a symbol you cannot convert to a primitive solid....... interesting question, why would you want to convert a molding to a solid, it seems that by doing that, you are dumbing down the molding........ but maybe you want to take the molding along with a symbol and convert all into a primitive solid..... I am just musing.... To answer the question, I do not think you can convert a molding into a primative solid.
  12. The 2.50/mo. (30.00 for a year) sounds more than fair. If I get one macro a year out of this, it is money well spent. I can think of at least one macro that I need, can you suggest a few others you might be able to provide. Consider me signed up. I will pay you as soon as you get your system set up. Thanks Joe, much appreciated.
  13. This is a great suggestion, CA, please make this happen for X8, thank you. You know Johnny, using color for CD's is too expensive now, but I am with you, very soon the color prints will be very cheap and all plans will be in color. CA, please give us the ability to send colored renderings, whether standard, vector, glass house etc. to layout. Thank You..... by X8 if you have time to fit it in.
  14. I say put it on its own layer, it is not necessary to block.
  15. Okay, so Johnny and Rob started this mess, there is not a go to method for doing CAD details..... the beauty of individuality...... I think I can count 6 different methods, of course I think my method is the best, but who cares....... you know, maybe one day we can do a workshop on this and compare methods...... it just seems that there must be "The Method"....... putting CAD details in a plan is not rocket science..... I have been doing it since 1975 and Joe Carrick has been doing it since 1875...... Joe's the best, thanks Joe for all your help with the macros, much appreciated by me and I am sure by the other folk.
  16. Yeo, and you do not need to block...... BTW, if blocked, there might be an issue with the line style and line weight.... but I assume you already know that.
  17. WOW! I find that hard to believe. I wonder how many other users use a separate plan file for each detail. Seriously, if it works for you great, but I bet I can show you how to put all details in one plan file which makes managing the details easier... at least I would think it makes managing detail easier. My brain and machine would be overwhelmed trying to keep track of as many as 30 or 40 different plan files...... I will keep an open mind if you do.
  18. Yep Rob, that is why I find it helpful to throw this stuff out there and see what sticks, many different methods.
  19. Here you go, you have to change it to a line on BOTH SIDES, note I can control line weight for the bubble and the line independently. But the answer is it must be both sides and not centered. As an option, Michael pointed out you can select left or right in lieu of both sides and then relocate the section bubble to the center if you prefer.
  20. Michael, post a small plan and I will take a look.
  21. I would give Johnny a negative vote here, but he is such a great guy and an asset, I have to give him a point for participating.
  22. You got one Glenn...... anyway, you would of found it in a second..... I think I might deserve double points because I really knew the answer before I opened the plan....... Hey, thanks Randy for posting the plan, see how quick the answers come when the plan is posted.
  23. Actually the problem is because he has what is in effect a single material wall. He has a core, yet his finishes on inside and outside of wall is set to 0" thick. The exterior layer is what covers the floor joist so there is no "floating". "And the fans go wild" they are screaming that the troll deserves a few points..... I am begging, can I get some points?
