  1. If you migrated your templates take a look here: C:\Program Files\Chief Architect\Chief Architect Premier X12 (64 bit)\Templates
  2. Is this just with the latest update ? I think something might be up. I have some walls that will not retain their materials. They rebuild and the siding falls off and other layers and materials get scrambled.
  3. I may have over reacted but I have never seen a situation like this before because it appeared as though you and another staff member have awarded and taken away possibly all but one of the reputation points in this thread unless others got involved and did not comment. I don't think I broke any rules or was rude as I was just trying to make a critical point in support of others. You are one of the most knowledgeable contributors on the forum and I have given you quite a number of your reputation points but if there is a problem with the software that needs attention or on the rare occasion you make an incorrect or misleading statement, I would hope that you would respect my opinion. I am working in a plan file right now that has a cabinet in the middle of the room that is not touching a wall or the ceiling or the floor and the Rebuild Terrain Icon pops up randomly even when the same edit is done to it. You may know the answer to that, but I just don't want to see the Rebuild Terrain Icon when working on what seems to be a totally unrelated item. What you said in the previous thread makes sense but the insight you have shared in this thread might suggest another look at the programming is warranted as it could only result in improvement for everyone.
  4. Some people can't work with grid lines or cross hairs stuck to their cursor, which I understand but they can be all be adjusted and customized or turned off. Not so with the Rebuild Terrain Icon unless you have the latest hardware that does not beak a sweat with the largest plan file and you can leave everything turned on all the time. It seems an attempt was made to streamline the software and isolate the terrain rebuild from all the other 3D items but the implementation of it is not user friendly. It seems you are frustrated by this Dermot, but taking it out on a customer is just wrong no matter how you cut it.
  5. The point is that chief gave us the ability to turn it off for performance gain. But then stuck an ugly icon to our cursor so we would not want to turn it off. You can turn off the icon but then you loose all the other useful warnings that may pop up. It is just a mess and Iggy is correct, what do kitchen cabinets have to do with terrain ??? Chief just twists the narrative to make it a sound good when it would be easier just to fix the problem.
  6. HUMM.... Has something changed ? Pretty sure your previous comment was also in reference to X12 Very confusing for a new user and frustrating for the rest of us who have been using the software for a while.
  7. David, I believe the question has been stated clear enough that it could be answered if the software was capable of doing what he needs automatically. There are a couple of small details that could be clarified but would not affect the requested answer. I am not sure I know how to do it automatically but you have a lot more experience with Home Designer than I do. Chief does not show the "Upper Pitch" in the auto Roof Baseline Polyline label. And yes maybe they should. I believe this is what he is after: Except that there was a later reference to a 12/12 section that may have been in error as it was originally described as 16/12.
  8. Don't know. Doesn't work that way for me. Ah.... It only works if your "Zoom Factor" is set to 100%. Just one more thing that could be considered misleading in the manual. "This setting only affects the text as it appears in this dialog."
  9. Just following along here Michael but a 12pt text pasted directly into plan view comes in at 6" while that same 12pt text pasted into a Rich Text DBX set to 6" comes in at 2 9/64". User issue or Chief ?
  10. Emma, give that a try in X12. I believe there were some updates that allow it to work there but not in previous versions.
  11. Sorry not seeing that Glenn. Maybe a Mac issue ? What browser do you use ? It pastes into Chief Rich Text as Arial and also works if converted to Chief Blueprint.... Also works fine as Standard Text. Humm.....
  12. Interesting that they look the same to me. Are there different font options for the forum feed ? I think it is Calibri for me displayed in Chrome.
  13. I have 3 - 24". Maybe the 32" is the issue, could it be a different resolution ?
  14. No sorry, can't reproduce unless there are other details missing. I do seem to have other issues though. My monitors are all matched though so that may be a factor.
  15. Only the person who has gone through the nightmare or not pre planning and never wants to experience that again. I have seen main beams chainsawed out for duct work. I just seems to happen somehow even though there is no excuse for it.
  16. It will at least show if you have a goofy roof penetration planned. I have a few more but have not completed my library yet.
  17. How about a 3D symbol that will show up in every view. Try this one out and let me know what you think. Nothing like having one line up with a ceiling joist and roof rafter cause you know the plumber will cut them out or go around. ABS Pipe 3 in 3D Vertical.calibz
  18. If it happened suddenly, what were you doing just before it happened ? It is not necessarily the size of the file that dictates the efficiency that it runs. Content is critical. Do you have imported cad or imported symbols ? Did you build a custom item ? What is the "system" you are using ? Upload the plan file if you want to know if it is slow on a different system. Is it slow in 3D or in plan view ?
  19. Answer for question 2: Remove the room divider or just have one label and move it so it looks like it applies to the whole area by being centered, but that may be confusing if you are using a schedule.
  20. Your Garage is already labeled. If what you want is a Grarage/Kitchen they would need to be adjoined by the Hallway. Super strange situation though. There must be an issue with your party wall. As Eric says post the plan and clarify the question. Other wise... Welcome to ChiefTalk.
  21. There are more advanced methods that you will learn later on as you get more experience but for now just create a Schedules, Doors Layer and turn that off in your Walls Layerset. Same with your Wall Schedule, create a Schedule, Walls layer and have it off in your Doors Layerset. Welcome to ChiefTalk.
  22. Frame your wall and make sure Framing, Headers are turned on. Then select header and insert label macro etc. Make sure Framing, Header Labels are turned on.
  23. Occasionally I do find myself scrolling in an awkward way with my middle finger but as you get more experience you will get used to selection and zoom settings even thought they are not all perfectly intuitive.
