Open the wall DBX ( Dialogue Box ) and under the roof tab add 12" to the default overhang and you should be good to go. Also deselect "Same Roof Height at Exterior Walls" in Build Roof DBX.

It looks to me like the issue may be that the birdsmouth for the hip rafter protrudes beyond the support beam at the corner. It would be great if chief knew how to do this but it may be a while yet before that is an automatic feature. It usually is hidden in the layers or sheathing and siding but is quite apparent if you have a post and beam type structure. You can apply a custom rafter tail to the hip beams if you need to although I don't think you will get it perfect without doing a laminated beam or building your own with a solid. Please let us know the exact issue as you have the wiling talent here to get it done even if chief won't do it for you automatically.

Likely it has but can't be sure. It would be on my list of nice things but not way up there like the things that need to be fixed just so a workaround can function.

We discussed a few ideas a while back here :

High transom windows without wall sections
Chopsaw replied to mariannekbauer's topic in General Q & A
Yes it will. You could do it just like that and manually add the supports or even do it automatically as a panel railing wall. -
Do you want to list the shutter type or size etc for the ones that have the shutters ? You could just put that info in the comments column for all the windows.

Plan Check is not highlighting what needs checking
Chopsaw replied to KimHist's topic in General Q & A
Where did you see that ? There is a copy link tool in the upper right corner of every post or just use the link from your browser. It just shows up like Eric's screen shot for me. -
Is there a lot of green in the terrain or the background you are using ? Usually an outdoor PBR is not too much trouble.

How to make furniture visible on elevation view
Chopsaw replied to Floriance's topic in General Q & A
You may need to post the plan file as it could be an issue with the furniture and not the software. Check it in the same type display view that it is visible in 3D maybe. -
Object movement with arrow key blocked but no obvious reason

Seems fine here. Low batteries in your keyboard maybe ? -
How to make furniture visible on elevation view
Chopsaw replied to Floriance's topic in General Q & A
No trick. Just figure out what layer it is on in the view where it is visible and then make sure that layer is turned on in your elevation view. -
I was not suggesting to change the room type Gene. There may be some other issues that result from my suggested method but floor tiles are not one of them !
-
Hi Mike, The software is not quite that user friendly such that you can just redefine a specific room type. However there are preset room functions and you can assign them to a room type. So redefine your Laundry and Garage to be a Bath room function and you are all set.

Did you frame and then install the windows ? If so you need to re-frame. Unless you have "Automatically Build Wall Framing" turned on ?

Pretty sure that that particular layer is locked by default. It can be manually unlocked but it is really strange that all that stuff ended up there as nothing else would logically end up there by default.
-
Not quite sure how it happened but you have a bunch of the items on the Roofs, Gutters layer which is locked and one other item on the Wall Niches layer. Also a random ceiling beam out at X 260" Y 282".... That does not seem bad but your build is no where near 0,0 which is a good thing to check when starting a plan file.
-
Likely something was scrambled at just the worst time. It should be controllable with layer settings if they are not locked. Post the file and someone will likely provide the fix in no time and then you can rush the updates to your engineer. You may have accidentally clicked the Modify All Layer Sets checkbox.

I think this tip still applies Mark.

Have you taken a look at any of these ? https://www.chiefarchitect.com/products/samples.html

You can always record a video of the situation and post the plan file. Someone with the same or similar computer specifications can run the plan file and see if it is a hardware issue or look to see what may be causing the issue in the plan file. Also please post your computer specifications and the version of chief you are using in your signature so that it is always there as a reference.

Removing unwanted details in an elevation without deleting them
Chopsaw replied to BostonRobb's topic in General Q & A
Hi Rob, Welcome to ChiefTalk. Elevation cameras have the option to "Back Clip" the view and then you set the distance in the DBX (Dialogue Box) or drag out the edit handle in Plan View. Depending on what version you have you may also be able to "break" the cross section line and put a jog into it to adjust the view that displays. Your Current Elevation: -
Give it a try. Reducing the width compresses the image and then allows a tighter row height. It is the only way it works since there is really no height control other than font size. You can go as tight as you want but then the column titles become the issue if you don't shorten the image title. It usually needs to have a little size to be legible though.
-
The other trick is to shorten the Column Title so that you can compress the column width.

Must be a "Canadian" term. Purlins was the word that was new for me.
