STRETCHING CAD DETAILS TO FIT ON LAYOUT SHEET
Chopsaw replied to chiefuserjohnG's topic in General Q & A
I think it was X10 when we lost that functionality. It would be great to get it back even as an alternate. Welcome back to the new forum. You can add your current version and computer spec's to your signature so it is always there when you post. It helps us help you. -
STRETCHING CAD DETAILS TO FIT ON LAYOUT SHEET
Chopsaw replied to chiefuserjohnG's topic in General Q & A
Wasn't that great, just like a picture... Try shift select and grab the top tab. Do you mean SHIFT + C ? -
Yes I only use the 3D PDF's in specific situation for a lot of the reasons you have outlined. I have a method using chief's .DAE export file that is quite involved but does a good job of maintaining chief's assigned textures so I wanted to compare with Turbo Cad and the new method that @zbrant57 mentioned using Avicad. The screen shot below is 96 dpi of zbrant57's posted file and I am noticing using Adobe's Solid Outline rendering option that the textures are quite pixilated on the post footings and deck railing as well as the elevated wooden floor joists. Where as the concrete slabs are quite similar to one of chief's default concrete textures.
-
It looks like you have some textures embedded ? Are they carried through from Chief or reassigned in avicad ? It sounds like Mark does not get them in turbocad. Is that your experience as well @RodCole ?

upgraded, but does not appear in digital locker

Let us know how it goes as I am not sure we actually got an answer last time this situation came up. -
If you put in in your default room label it will be in all your rooms with the room name.
-
Ok so it does work if you turn off Scale Images but I don't think that is what Bryce was asking for.
-
Try this in your room label: %room.height.ceiling%
-
That is the difference. Resizing definitely does not work with a Note Schedule.
-
Yours seems cramped for some reason. This is what mine looks like set to 12" for the Note and Schedule.... Not sure if this works for notes ?
-
Ivan, I think I would just use a manual callout and make sure they all match then turn off the ones generated by the schedule after you are all finished with revisions.
-
It seems to show on the floor but not the walls ? Is it the same material ? You may need to post the plan file and or a link to the viewer model. Not sure if it is a viewer issue or a material issue or just a lighting issue.

CAD detail from view of truss detail is wonky for me
Chopsaw replied to GeneDavis's topic in General Q & A
Gene, here is one I did recently. I wish I had a truss company like Rob that could do stuff like this without drawings but my truss company has difficulty even with drawings. Not nearly as difficult to do it in chief though. The tough part was re-cutting the opening with a chain saw on the top of the ladder because they could not get the trusses right even after finally getting the drawings correct. -
Hole in truss for window? Available? Workaround?
Chopsaw replied to GeneDavis's topic in General Q & A
You will also likely need to delete your framed end wall just to be able to build the default truss if I remember correctly. -
The other option is to set you "Subfloor Height Above Terrain" to 0". This allows you to manually build the terrain with values that are relative to the subfloor.
-
Assign framing category to members placed using General
Chopsaw replied to GeneDavis's topic in General Q & A
Same problem as walls. As far as I know that is hard coded for automatically generated members. If you want it to look correct it is a matter of copying an existing member that is properly categorized. If you do a lot of that type of thing it might make sense to keep a folder of properly labeled items in your library. Actually it seems it can be customized..... The default comes from the %automatic_description% in Object Information, Description. Delete that and enter your custom description there. -
Is a Polyline table possible for its labels?
Chopsaw replied to Michael_Gia's topic in General Q & A
Thanks Michael, The soffit and chief schedule almost works and I had not thought of it. We were hoping to get an area total without having to use Excel. Is there a way to do that without a whole lot of ruby ? -
Is a Polyline table possible for its labels?
Chopsaw replied to Michael_Gia's topic in General Q & A
It could be done with a note schedule and manual entries into custom fields or for a fee I think I could make it a little more user friendly and automated with my ruby skills if you are interested, providing the lots are true rectangles and drawn in 2D. -

Chopsaw replied to Michael_Gia's topic in General Q & A
The area and label are not a big issue but length and width bring in another level of complexity. Are all the lots consistently rectangular with 90 deg corners ? -
Or check your plan and see if there are any wall breaks that can be eliminated or resolved.

Were you thinking area analysis or something else altogether ? Can you provide an example. -
I think to make it show fill you need the Walls, Layers and Walls, Main Layer Only layers to be on at the same time.
