  1. It is definitely a great goal but you have to remember that chief still has difficulty knowing how to frame a wall. Compound miters are likely a programming issue that needs to be addressed to be able to do this with any amount of elegance. It might be better to ask for an official chief video that shows the correct use of manual tools which may lead to streamlining of any deficiencies and some more robust manual tools that can be used for other custom situations as well.
  2. Have a look here: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-03044/optimizing-a-chief-architect-plan-for-export-to-the-3d-viewer.html
  3. That is definitely possible but there is the potential for them to get out of sync. You could leave both callouts turned on until the end to be able to quickly confirm they are the same and then just turn one off before printing.
  4. It should be fine Rob, even in vector view.... Unless there is a change in material or even a copy of the original will cause that line.
  5. I really hope that it was not intentionally programmed that way because it could cause a lot more trouble than being a benefit if you don't happen to notice what is going on. If there is a particular setting in a DBX that does not apply in a specific situation it should be grayed out, not do something unpredictable like provide you with a substitute switch. Just in my test plan that I was checking with I already had both switches of the two gang switch wired and in substituting the singe gang switch it left the other circuit dead ended with no switch so the electrician would think you wanted two unrelated circuits wired together. I think chief needs to just fix it so it works predictably.
  6. I think Diane is doing it the "right" or only way it can be done currently, but I thought I would double check to see if that setting works with a double gang switch and it sure does a "number" on it. Set a two gang switch to use " Automatically Change Switch Type When Wiring " and then wire it as a three way circuit. When I did it it changes the switch to to a single gang and labels it a a 3 way circuit.... Very Helpful....
  7. I believe you are correct. If an absolutely perfect 3D presentation is the priority then you could add text to your multi gang switches otherwise cram the singe gangs together that work properly.
  8. Maybe try creating a Room Schedule and use find in plan or check that three way wall intersection with the two different wall types. Invisible room divider ? Island room ? Short of that.... Post the plan and let one of the experts play.
  9. You can use the delete surfaces tool to remove the parts you don't need and then remake the symbol from the remaining visible parts.
  10. I guess batteries then, or possibly you rearranged something on your desk and it is interfering with the signal. Is it just in chief or every application ? Check Task Manger to see what your computer is up to. Maybe you have an old USB mouse somewhere for troubleshooting ?
  11. Check the cord or batteries and check for dirt. Is there lag in the jumping ? Maybe your computer is doing something else it thinks is more important.
  12. Depending on what version you are using it should just connect and snap to the stairway automatically.
  13. It should do that automatically, but if you deleted or lost it somehow it can be restored by running plan check providing it is still turned on in General Plan Defaults.
  14. Hi Larry, There are quite a few methods and discussions about "fascia mounted deck railings" but I think this might be the one you are referring to.
  15. Your welcome, I just followed your instructions. I remember the topic has been discussed before but would have to search to find their solution. Someone else that was involved my provide some more comments.
  16. Not too difficult to do that manually with some type of polyline and multi copy tool but nothing that I am aware of to do it auto unless you use a flooring material and adjust the offset the way you want it but if you do it manually you can label the sheets and display the cut sizes as well. Just depends on how far you want to take it. It gets a little more complicated to do it for roof sheathing.
  17. Likely a few ways to accomplish this but a duplicate roof plane that is only 1 1/2" wide seems to provide a fairly quick and clean solution.
  18. There have been some discussions about computer upgrades for X13 on the forum but here is Chief's take. Hope that helps. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/blog/computer-for-design-and-gaming/
  19. Preferences > Edit > Snap Properties > Snap Indicators > Display Angle Snap Grid > Deselect
  20. And yes I could just rotate it in plan and all would be fine but I have two separate layouts with different orientation. Hoping I don't have to rotate all the rest of the sheets just for this because with my luck that would create a bigger issue somewhere else.
  21. Yes the Black and Yellow Triangular Caution Symbol is the Picture Box sent to layout from a Plan CAD Detail. I tried the Unicode Symbol first in a text box but it prints out as blue and not black and yellow in my PDF. Not a text issue but a dimensioning issue... They seem to think it is better to flip over 180° rather than just rotating 90° with the layout box.
  22. I give up ! Is there a setting somewhere the controls that ?
  23. It only seems to be happening in my CAD Details.... Same thing the dimensions are doing. Ug
  24. In X12 ? Upside down.... I guess I need to try again. This just seem wrong for some reason.
