  1. Could someone confirm for me that when a Picture file contained in a Layout Box is rotated 90° that the Picture File rotates 180°. It would appear that as the Layout Box is rotated the Picture file rotating in the opposite direction at double the rate the box is rotating. Maybe I am seeing things incorrectly but if this is true that must take some pretty sophisticated programming.
  2. Thank you for posting the solution. Could you also let us know your video card specifications so this will benefit others in your situation.
  3. Have you checked out Chief's Substance Player ? If you don't see what you need there Dustin is taking requests.
  4. Not quite sure what Eric did but I was able to achieve the same result by using the Edit Wall Layer Intersections tool on the short 6" wall and creating a mitered joint.
  5. So is the offset less than the wall thickness ?
  6. It is not exactly clear what you need to achieve. Maybe post a screen shot or your plan file. Short walls are not that common so chief struggles to know what to do with them. There are some settings and workarounds that might work depending on the exact situation.
  7. Thanks for logging the 1" minimum bug Dustin. I just wonder though based on your explanation if there is another underlying issue when creating symbols. Prior to creating the symbol of the triangular shaped single face there was no issue with the material application. Does this mean that the assigned mapping is lost at the point of symbol creation, but only for some types of objects ? I have not had hours and hours available for testing so I don't really know exactly what shapes and sizes of shapes work and don't work at this point. A simple square or rectangle seems to maintain it's "mapping" when converted to a symbol so maybe I don't understand what is really going on.
  8. Looks like your modified material is the workaround to go with. So thank you for that. It does not seem to be the thickness that matters..... This one is 1/8" and the material actually works on the edge faces but not on the rectangular face that I need. It must just be another one of those things where chief just falls on its face dealing with angles. I will send this one in when I have a breather.
  9. I won't likely get to this today but could you expand on that part of your statement for me. I am not quite clear on what you are suggesting.
  10. What is this method you are talking about? Being able to display screening properly by applying it to a single face.
  11. A screen shot would be helpful but you can not arc a roof edge so you need to make many little straight segments or use polyline subtraction to shape the roof edge.
  12. Interesting idea. I will give that a try to see if it makes a difference as it seems that theoretically it should not. I am actually using Dermots method that was specifically recommended for this purpose.
  13. Yes I agree that the metric annotation standards are in mm but I think the software still does it's base computations in cm and inches.
  14. Apparently the same issue exists in a metric template but it appears to only be an issue as soon as you go below a single unit in metric or imperial. metric units being cm and imperial units being inches.
  15. Thanks for taking a look Michael. That was actually the same suggestion that Glenn originally made but it does not seem to work at anything less than 1"
  16. No sorry. I forgot about that setting but wanted them different anyway. If you turn on " Global Symbol Mapping" the DBX preview appears to match the resulting texture in standard views but that is no help either. Thanks for playing though. This might be one for Dustin on Monday unless we are missing the obvious somehow.
  17. Thank You Eric !! There is no way I would have believed that if you told me. I had to watch it 5 times... Make a setting for a completely different type of window that happens to use the same DBX for an item that has no relation to what you would expect to fix a problem that should not exist. WOW !! That makes for a $200.00 window opening that no one will ever see.
  18. I am not sure I have seen a posting of this nature so here goes. Any ideas why my chief material is scaling up by 32x when applied to a symbol ? It does not seem to matter what I set the scaling at it gives an 18" pattern when I want it at 1/2". I over compensate and make it 1/64" and it applies as 18" It seems to apply to to other symbols ok but this is a single face but I have done this before with faces but maybe not in X12 so I don't know what is going on. I am using this as mosquito screening and not the de Havilland mosquito kind ! Here is the Symbol if anyone want to check it out: Gable Vent Left.calibz
  19. If only the delete key could return all the time that was wasted I would be just fine.
  20. I tried that on an attic wall on the same project and it was a disaster but this wall is balloon framed so it might work. Thanks. Otherwise yes for material regions.
  21. Apply house wrap to the frame ? Ingenious How about a pass-through vent with no frame, no house wrap and no "siding wrap" ?
  22. Is there any way to prevent siding from wrapping into a frameless opening of a pass-through ? It would be great if the house wrap did this when you wanted it to but not the siding....
